Tumble's tagline is that it is 'The Greatest Show Off The Earth'. It launches next Saturday and is set to become the most successful new entertainment series of the last 16months.

Itv meanwhile has released an 'Autumn 2014 trailer' with Young Cilla Black being their big new headline show this Fall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwt_...NVEBRvwL0EW8Gw”

I would've thought Granchester was their big new headline this Autumn given its likely to be a returning series, or even The Great Fire. Cilla is likely to do 4m at best.

It's a while away, but worth keeping an eye on. The weather for next weekend looks.... grim. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1681.gif

Edit - the remains of Tropical Storm Bertha, for anyone wondering.

Since when did you become a model watcher?

That's an awful looking chart for August. I guess we were due something like this after a sustained period of settled conditions.

Depending on the timing, it could be good news for the Ratings Thread's most discussed programme Tumble.

I seen Ian Fergusson (who normally tweets out the F1 forecasts) retweet something from Matt Hugo: https://twitter.com/MattHugo81/statu...06440990302209

I guess after a warm settled spell, things were always going to take a tumble.....

(sorry, sorry)

This is what Doctor Who fans do. Check the weather is crap in the hope ratings will get a boost!

A little bit of old BBC1 continuity from the day of BBC1's highest ever rating, he says trying to find a ratings link, which had me laughing by 20 seconds:

I don't normally join in the DS whinging show thread club, but the closing ceremony is disjointed and underwhelming so far imo-still should get a decent rating though due to its event status.

The opening wasn't that great, but I would love to have had Middle of the Road singing Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep and Kelly Marie doing Feels Like I'm In love tonight. They're local enough and would have added a bit of camp cheese and humour to it.

The closing thing is making me want to go to sleep.
Very boring I am finding.
Have turned over.

My Australian source tells me that there has been huge ratings developments with their version of the XFactor so far this year. In previous years, XF Australia used to win its slot quite easily with audition episodes getting about 1.5million viewers. However this year, XF has struggled to rate over 1.1million with its figures down 30pct yoy and it has been beaten by shows including MasterChef, The Block, Nine News, Andy and Hamish etc. In fact, its latest episode saw it sink to a 4yr+ ratings low of only 914,000 viewers. Looks like after last year's XF failure in USA, the trend is continuing in Australia too with underwhelming ratings there for this series. Could this pattern be replicated here too?

Incidentally the Voice Australia auditions just a couple of months ago were hitting around 2million viewers, double the XF's.

Cilla will be panned.

Sure she's an important figure in ITV history, but no doubt it'll be a sanitised version of her career. Such a wicked women.

There are many other celebrities they could have chosen. It's the one part of the trailer I think looks out of place with the more contempary feel to the other dramas. Alex Kingston looks great!

Cilla did do a lot for the itv brand in her time so I guess thats why she is being profiled here but she's very out of step with the actual real viewing public.

"Grantchester" looks very stylish and I think will be a refreshing quality drama, with a lot of depth behind it. Perfect for autumn evenings rather than bland mediocre old rubbish

Itv believe her rags to riches story would make a good television drama. A young girl from a working class background living in a small household in a run down part of Liverpool, making her way up to become a television icon.

On paper it sounds like a nice story. But it will rate badly because these kind of biopics hardly ever rate well and Black isnt very well liked these days anyway. Last year the Cilla Black entertainment special only got 3.5million viewers, this'll rate in that kind of ball-park.

This might be of interest to some - I believe there will be a 'BARB first' when the officials come out tomorrow. BBC One's top 30 (w/e July 27th) will include shows that have rated below 3 million viewers. Given the Commonwealth Games ratings, this shouldn't be of any major surprise, and may well be repeated next week too.

This summer's schedule is the worst I've ever seen from ITV.

I very much doubt she's as important as you suggest, probably only a footnote in ITV history. There seems to be general hostility towards her which is not a good omen.

SamuelW's Australian source is about as informed as regular Ratings Thread readers as we've covered X Factor Australia's underwhelming ratings this season at least twice already.

It doesn't mean anything for the UK show, really. Both are in very different places and although Australian TV generally is poorer than ours, this genre is incredibly competitive and it's not unusual for three of these big event TV shows to clash.

I'm asking the intellectuals here.

When is BBC +1 being launched?

Thanks

From the snippets I've seen it looks like a very strong drama that could do well against New Tricks despite Samuel's hope it fails.

Certainly not an intellectual but it's due Autumn 2015 after BBC3 closes. It'll only run from 8pm until closedown each night.

It could be a returning strand depending on how strong it is away from the trailer. The "Happy Valley" villain Tommy Lee may add some extra interest when it launches with the press or how he can role reverse!! He's a great actor

I don't know why you persist with this. Just state the facts and put the source underneath. Don't bother with all this 'according to my source etc.' it just makes you look silly. We know you've got it from either another forum gossip or online source.

As you say she isn't well liked, but she isn't even relevant enough these days to command a three-part drama, on a good timeslot. Awful singer, who says she's "proud" of her roots...........yet treats Liverpool like a plague and is disowned by its people.

ITV history yes, but you cannot deny she was a big game player for LWT. One of their "entertainers".
