Another reason to watch Broadchurch on ITV Encore. Extra footage for the finale, okay it's probably on the DVD but I'll still watch.

Look away Dancc!
From The Guardian: Big Brother a target for ITV - Channel 5 show understood to have been a target as new owner Viacom faces issues retaining rights to key programming ITV executives have weighed the merits of snatching Big Brother from Channel 5 – the broadcaster’s latest two-year deal expires at the end of the year – to boost programming across its expanding portfolio of channels. The huge success of ITV2, the biggest digital channel in the UK, has led ITV to launch a spin-off channel with a core focus on reality and non-scripted shows. The female-focused channel, called ITVBe, will become the home of shows including The Only Way is Essex and Real Housewives. Big Brother, and its celebrity stablemate, could be used to give newcomer ITVBe a major boost against rival channels. Or Big Brother and CBB could be split across channels. It is thought that discussions at ITV are unlikely to progress to a bid for Big Brother, because the rights remain at a level of about £20m per year. “It has been discussed, these thing are, it is not a completely ridiculous idea,” said one source. “But it is quite expensive to run on digital channels, I can’t see it happening.” However, one media executive said the plan is ‘“still boiling” and no solid decision had been taken. |

Yes, good to see all the episodes over 6m, although presumably the figures are still being underestimated because of the omnibus issue.

My interpretation of this would be that ITV don't want it but they can see how big it is for C5 and they think they are getting it too cheaply so they want to drive up the cost and ensure C5 has to pay more to keep it. As mentioned it would be very expensive to run on digital channels. When I look at the schedules for itv2 currently it's already full of repeats. In a year in which they are launching two new digital channels we can expect itv to invest a little but not to the extent that BB becomes a realistic target I don't think. It just looks like a spoiler to me and I'm not concerned. |

Well they need some content to fill up these channels - I wonder if it would be worth it for them?

Way to go Guardian on an incredibly contradictory article. One hell of a scoop that. Oh for the days when MG used to actually report, you know, facts.

I find it hard to believe that Viacom wouldn't have money to hold onto some Channel 5 programme rights.

Quite a poor rating for Soccer Aid, its worst ever rating as expected. The Itv weekly reach crisis limits the casual audience who watch their shows so its no wonder it was down compared to previous events. Will be fascinating to see how much their World cup ratings trail behind BBC1 this year, could be more than last time due to the acceleration in weekly reach decline for Itv compared to BBC1. The formula one rated better than expected yesterday but Quirke was down due to losing its AR oap-boosting lead-in.

The conclusion we've reached from the tennis is that ITV should probably show the Mens Final on ITV but everything else including the ladies final and any Murray matches should all stay on ITV4.

Is it really necessary to continue to mention everyday about the ITV weekly reach crisis?! It's beyond tiresome. Every post, is the same.

For the record, here is how the F1 has rated this year, race on race:
Australia - down 3% Malaysia - down 17% (BBC live in 2014 vs highlights in 2013) Bahrain - down 23% (BBC highlights on BBC Two due to race starting later this year) China - down 21% (BBC live in 2013 vs highlights in 2014) Spain - up 9% Monaco - up 11% Canada - up 1% |

Bad form from ITV, there. The eight or nine million people who watched the first run deserved to see those scenes last year.

Take the initials ITV and BBC1 out of his last post and what he says actually makes perfect sense. He is merely stating facts here but it is use of the term of ITV that makes people think he's being negative.
It's dragged this thread into the absolute pit recently. I'm not sure why you're constantly running to his rescue. Any sane poster knows he is trolling 99% of the time and it maybe the facts but its the way he portrays them in a very negative, biased way. See yesterday's BGT Final ratings as an example. Utterly ridiculous! |

Glad to see someone else has not forgotten about that.
![]() D.M.N., please could I have the official ratings for the individual EastEnders omnibus episodes (with shares if possible) for the nights of 23/24 May and 30/31 May? And also the overnights for the two omnibus broadcasts please? (I understand these can't be split down into episodes). |

Was just checking the BARB website and noticed there was no appearance by 'From There to Here' in the BBC1 top 30. It was on the week of the BGT live shows wasn't it?
The overnight rating must have been real low, if it couldn't consolidate to above 3.6m (30th place in the BBC1 chart). That's gonna scupper my consolidated average calculation

It hasn't dragged this thread into the pit at all. This thread is just the same as it's always been. And, if you read the thread yesterday you'd have seen that I did not defend Samuel at all when he made his ridiculous red headlined statement about BGT ratings. In my opinion, what is bringing this thread into the pits is the constant desire for everyone who finds Samuel's posts irritating, to take each and every one of them personally and reply to each and every one of them as if he has stolen your sweets. There is a poster who I don't like on a different thread so I simply scroll past his posts and only reply to the ones that appeal to me. However, we all see things through rose tinted spectacles and all of us fail to see we all have faults. Whilst maybe not as blatant as samuel is for his bias against ITV, there are some posters who are so hilarious when ITV get criticised, they act as if their goldfish has been flushed down the loo whilst at school and mummy didn't tell them!

Im just stating the facts. Itv SD weekly reach for most recent week on BARB was 65pct [38million people]. The equivalent BGT week in 2012 had a weekly reach of 72pct [41.5million]. That's a real viewing loss of about -8pct. So on average, 8pct fewer people are likely to tune into a bog standard Itv show these days compared to two years ago. That has been reflected in the ratings recently. Soccer Aid was down 8pct yesterday compared to a couple years ago. Bang on what the weekly reach declines have been recently. This is imo good statistical analysis I am offering and a clear sign and reason why so many returning shows on their channel have been down yoy.

It's a shame so many watched the Men's French Open final compared to the Women's. It was a snoozefest whereas the Women's final was one of the best finals in years. I suppose like with everything else, quality doesn't equal high ratings.
