Surely the reason it took so long to be shown was because the BBC knew it was rubbish and had sound issues and dumped it at the time of year it didn't really matter.

Pretty certain I read that Miranda isn't ever coming back because Miranda is busy doing too many other things.

A clash with Emmerdale meant EastEnders slipped to 4.68m/24.1% last night. The Yorkshire soap meanwhile averaged 5.82m/31.7% over the hour.

Ouch! Knew that would happen. Unsurprisingly, low ratings all round last night it seems.

Away from BBC1 and ITV, BBC2's #Springwatch came out top with 2.31m/11.8%, followed by doc #WelcomeToRio (1.82m/8.9%).

A new series of @BBCOne's #CelebrityMasterchef kicked off last night with 4.42m/21.6%, yesterday's most watched in the 9pm hour.

Good for Masterchef. Really enjoyed it last night and I'm liking all the contestants this year.

Those clashes really don't help EastEnders. Good to see Welcome To Rio up. It's a good programme.

Absolutely dismal for Enders.

They will get their revenge on friday when Eastenders has a 10 minute head start on Emmerdale from 7pm.

By the way when did 5USA start showing new episodes of Law or Order on fridays at 9, ones not shown on C5 and as Inside soap calls it new to Freeview. You would think they would tell people.

I'm very surprised how badly EE is doing in these clashes. When it was strong in 2010/2011 it used to run Emmerdale extremely close and even beat it despite 30minutes headstart from Emmerdale. It appears its not quite as strong as we might have thought. The damage Kirkwood and Newman have done is going to be forever apparent.

Springwatch did well, as it always does.

I don't see an out of its usual slot EE doing very well at all to be honest, head start or not.

Pretty sure all series of Law and Order were screened on C5 at some point. Possibly a mistake.

Eastenders is getting rave reviews in the DS soap forum, but I'm not convinced that typical viewers share the enthusiasm of some DS members. It's definitely improved but still seems far from perfect to me.

That's a pretty strong line-up. Not too fussed about Mel B, but I am pleased Simon and Cheryl are back.

That`s brightened my day. Leaves a serious hole though in the "tall woman falls over a lot" comedy genre.

Radio Times says it was first shown on Sky1 makes no mention of Channel 5 and I don't think I have seen season18.

Not sure what you can do about Emmerdale. Its like a thorn lurking in the background waiting for when Eastenders to get a bit of air in it so it can rush on and burst it. And even though ED is effectively sacrificed by ITV its not really losing out at all. Anything beginning with a 4 for a soap is dreadful and it must be pretty soul destroying for the Eastenders hierarchy.

Ideally Eastenders would want the relatively free run that Coronation Street gets to nurse itself through the quieter periods. Not sure what schedule would give it that luxury though but- ITV wont leave it alone as things stand.

Mel B has been good on AGT and XF: Aus, reaction to her doesn't seem great here though.

Sometimes you must wait for the best things - Sherlock took 2-3 years in the making for instance. Car share is fantastic according to an informant and will be a hit with non-DS viewers.”

they filmed it in June and July 2013. It was announced with great fanfare in march 2013.

it's going to be a great steaming turd and they clearly don't have a clue what on earth to do with it

Still Open All Hours was announced last October, location filmed in November, recorded in December and aired on Boxing day. Car Share is taking longer in production than a Nick Park animation!

And I suspect over the next few weeks we will see it drop below 5million more often

She'll provide a talking point though, that's what it desperately needs this year. It's a good/safe choice. She was heavily edited last time too, so she can either play on that, or she has the opportunity to reinvent/redeem herself as all eyes will be on Cheryl (and Simon) from the beginning.

Welcome back Robbie!

Yes completely agree, for something that was announced just under 16 months ago and hasn't been shown or barely been heard of since gives you an indication of what it will be like. Also wasn't it supposed to be shown on iPlayer first?

The X Factor going back to arguing? I am stunned!
