Not great for BB last night, even though I enjoyed it. Could the fact that BB is on at either 9pm or 10pm i.e. not a fixed time on Channel 5 cause people not to watch?

It would probably average slightly higher if it was on at 9PM every night. But it's just not possible to fit around everything else that way.

Looking forward to seeing the first set of officials on Monday and also how it's doing on C5+24 which will reduce the deficit compared to last year.

From DS

Celebrity MasterChef's return was down slightly on last year's opener, according to overnight data.

The cooking competition served up 4.4 million (21.6%) at 9pm, which is down around 300,000 viewers from last August. Later, Gary Lineker's Brazil special scored 1.8m (16.6%) at 10.45pm.

On BBC Two, Springwatch appealed to 2.3m (11.8%) at 8pm, followed by Welcome to Rio with 1.8m (8.9%) at 9pm. The Fast Show special amused 930k (5.3%) at 10pm.

ITV's repeat of Endeavour attracted 2.4m (11.8%) at 8pm (277k/1.5% on +1).

On Channel 4, Location, Location, Location interested 1.6m (7.9%) at 8pm (130k/0.6%), while The Complainers brought in 1.2m (5.9%) at 9pm (156k/1.0%). Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares entertained 922k (5.8%) at 10pm (142k/1.7%).

Channel 5's Dog Rescuers was seen by 1.2m (6.0%) at 8pm (142k/0.7%), while the latest CSI thrilled 1.3m (6.2%) at 9pm (123k/0.8%). Big Brother: Power Trip continued with 1.2m (7.5%) at 10pm (103k/1.2%).

On E4, New Girl tickled 529k (2.6%) at 9pm (171k/1.0%), followed by The Mindy Project with 147k (0.9%) at 9.30pm (120k/0.8%).

Sky Atlantic's Penny Dreadful attracted 211k (1.0%) at 9pm, while MTV's Ex on the Beach brought in 254k (1.6%) at 9pm.

I agree that if it was on at 9pm then it would get better ratings, as at 10pm most people will probably want to watch the news.

If you want a good dog programme then watch Icebound on Sunday night.

Not sure how anyone will enjoy it, Its rubbish editing is really bad and the housemates all sound the same. Plus there is the silly TOWIE style name tags and the narrator gone OTT.

I agree with most of what you say, but I will probably always watch it no matter what. Definitely preferred the Channel 4 and BB7 way of doing things.

Is it being called fantastic by the same muppets who declared that The Royal Bodyguard was hilarious? I await with baited breath.......or not.

So will Ch5+24 be included in the official count, yes? How much are you expecting to pull, a few thousand? tens of thousands or more? The +24 could help this in the officials!

The editing has been toned down. Do you not remember CBB8? That was incredibly cheesy.

We're talking tens of thousands here, but in terms of the series average it could end up being significant who knows.

Ah, that's decent. A difference of a 1.62m official and 1.66m (just 40k) for example would help it rate above BB12 and BB13. So we can grab onto as much as we can

A dose of Piles is funnier than The Royal Bodyguard!

When you take into consideration the classic sitcoms of yesteryear, a lot of attention was made to the title of the show. Nowadays commissioners just agree to anything being made. Names are hardly ever considered. These people should be able to be clever enough to look at the title and think "that sounds shit" and be done with it. But worryingly, they don't!

Without wanting to cause a debate, should we really include that in the official numbers?

By all means quote C5+24, separately, but you can't bundle it in with the 1.xxm, unless you want to do that for all of the repeat airings.

I would agree with that - after all +24 is in effect a timeshift, something that would be included as part of the officials only, not the overnights.

Have any viewing figures appeared for BBC Scotland's replacement of Newsnight, Scotland 2014? (They delay showing Newsnight)

Also what sort of figures does their soap opera River City get? I don't know any Scottish people who watch it.

Over 4 million viewers is good in this day and age. Especially for the subject matter.

River City
- 13/05 - 414k (25.6%)
- 22/05 - 347k (19.3%) [moved to Thursday]
- 27/05 - 317k (16.6%) [vs BGT]
- 02/06 - 415k (24.8%)

Outperforms Holby City percent wise, some strong shares there.

Scotland 2014:
- 02/06 - 44k (3.2%)
- 03/06 - 107k (7.8%)

Very difficult to tell, at the moment.
