I know people are not religious on here and that is fine but I think it would be a good if Eastenders bring in a brand new family with no connections to the Square who are Mormons? So should Eastenders introduce a Mormon family

I wouldn't object to having a family of any religion as long as the characters were interesting.

Excuse my ignorance but are there many Mormons in the UK? If there are not, then I would say the production team should probably stick to a family who practice a religion which more viewers can relate to.

If the polls are about varying subjects then I really don't seen the problem.

Last count I can find there are roughly 190,000 in the UK, so around 0.3% of the population.

I for one welcome our new moomin overlords.

Why do we need a Mormon family ? Sometimes people want soaps to be too varied. Mormon(ism) is a very minor religion in the UK and if people want to be educated about a religion and their practices, I feel documentaries are more appropriate for this than soaps.

Agree, it's more suited to documentary type show than a soap, I rather just have characters who are good rather than ones defined by something.

Well the Masoods are Muslim and they are religious. There are lots of Mormons in the united kingdom so it is not a minor religion

It's not personal, I don't like characters that are brought in to be the 'new muslim family' or the 'new mormon family'. I think it limits those characters.

I thnk that's the problem in our politically correct world. While I agree diversity and representation of different minorities is important, people seem to want to bring in characters just to tick boxes.

We need more gay/black/Mormon/ older characters. No , we need layered , well rounded characters played by competent actors, who have plenty of potential and depth to them .

But the Masoods are a great family. Maybe a Mormon family could be good as well not just in Eastenders but in Coronation Street and Emmerdale too

Of course not. It's a minority that barely anyone cares about. They're not relevant in the 21st century.

I voted no as I like new characters to be defined by their character and not their religion.

You asked peoples opinion. Look at the poll. They have given it to you. Why do you insist on putting pressure on everyone?

To be interesting EE would have to challenge their faith, and potentially ruin everything they stand for including destroying the family unit.

She asked politely for people to explain their decision. I see no harm in that, makes for an interesting thread.
