Have Corrie bosses changed their minds about axing Dennis?

He's burnt his bridges. Rita may be putting up with him at the minute out of pity because he had nowhere else to go and she could do with the company what with losing Tina but there's no way she'd take him back. Him ditching her and swanning off with Gloria was a huge betrayal, remember him smugly waving goodbye to Rita as they drove passed it was very cruel. The problem with their relationship was she held all the cards she owns the house they lived in the business they worked in and lorded it over him. If they were to get back together now her forgiveness of his betrayal would just be yet another thing she has over him. He'd feel just as emasculated and insecure as before if not more so and would lie, cheat or run off with another woman again.

I hope it's Philip Lowries decision to leave and not the producers, because that would just be a downright moronic decision to make, especially with the likes of Maddie and Tina's awful flat mate and her brother taking up valuable screen time, and wasting Weatherfield oxygen.

Yes i really want him to stay.

Not really sure why they got of Brian...but some times you can understand why they ditch certain characters even when they work well in the show eg. Eddie Windass was axed so Anna could get with Owen.

They've probably delayed his exit for later this year.
Or alternatively, they could be planning a stunt, like a fire, that will kill off the remaining departing characters

Can't he just leave and take Rita with him

I want him to stay; there is so much potential for an extended Tanner family especially this actor.

Agree that Dennis should stay....and knowing Dennis from the past I think his extended family would be quite hilarious ....

He should go as he has burnt all his bridges.

That shoddy excuse of an exit was so insulting to both the actor and the character. There was so much potential in Dennis with his history on the Street, an unexplored back story and his connection to the Grimshaws- which seemed to get dropped like a hot potato.

I agree, appalling exit, I wonder how he p*ssed them off to deserve that

It's Blackburn, pure and simple. The man hasn't the first idea what viewers actually want.

What bothers me is that we probably won't find out what happens to him. He will just vanish and be forgotten. Is he safe right now, or back on the streets once again? He apparently doesn't have any money so how will he survive, and has Julie and Rita heard from him?

Hate it when things are left off like that.

I'm not sure that a connection was ever established - although Elsie Tanner's maiden name was Grimshaw so maybe it's just an idea somebody on here mooted.

EDIT: actually, Wikipedia says

"In 2011, it was revealed that she and her son Dennis were distantly related to Eileen Grimshaw and Julie Carp, as her cousin Arnley Grimshaw, was their paternal grandfather, the father of Colin Grimshaw."

Don't remember that at all!

Disgusting the way he's been axed. He had lots of potential , more than a character like Sean Tully who is such a crap character. Yet Anthony Cotton's contract keeps being renewed. Stuart Blackburn is stupid. Wish he'd find some other soap to ruin.

His real exit was worse than his old one...

I suppose that would explain why he was living with Julie for a while.

Poor Exit, Bad Storyline altogether. Character should have stayed and reconciled with Rita in my opinion.

They should never have paired him off with Rita in the first place. It was the kiss of death for Dennis.
