I can't see another way for this storyline to go but Amy would never let Ste keep the kids if she knew what was going on..

I'm surprised that Amy has sent the kids to live with Ste full time in the first place

Maybe the actress isn't interested in coming back?

Amy Barnes is a living Hollyoaks legend. I'd be very surprised if she's not back soon.

I'm in the minority but I didn't like Amy, so I was happy when she left and I don't want to see a return.

Maybe because she's a terrible mother. I mean she abandoned Lucus when he was born so I'm not surprised in the slightest she's done this.

She had post-natal depression. You're seriously judging her as a terrible mother when she was suffering from a mental illness?

I liked Amy but I'm not sure what her returning would actually do for the show. She's been fairly ineffectual the last couple of times she's appeared, and I don't always think she's got Ste's best interests at heart.

wow I really hope you don't know anyone with post natal depression because if they knew this was your opinion of it they would be disgusted

Surely she shouldn't have to have Ste's best interests at heart. He's a grown man, they should both be more bothered about their children - and I think they both are.

I'd rather see Amy back then endure any more of these tedious Ste storylines.

I actually really enjoyed Amy's friendship with Ste after he got himself sorted.

Honestly, I have always viewed them as two of the best soap parents around (I know Ste is struggling now, but previously you can't deny he hasn't been a good dad to Leah and Lucas). They showed that despite being very young parents they have overcome their problems and have always had their children's best interests first. That and you actually see their children on the show.

She's concerned about the children, as she should be.

No matter how great a character Brendan was, he was a violent, abusive thug, who frequently threatened and intimidated Amy herself. She was absolutely, always in the right to want Ste, the father of her children, to stay away from him.

Anything else, it's Stes life, she's not responsible for his wellbeing, and like Ste himself, she's an amazing person just for supporting her former abuser after everything he/Brendan did to her/him. She loves Ste, but he frequently messes up his life. She can't be there every time he falls - she has the kids to think about.

BTW - This isn't directed at you personally, but to everyone who watches Ste/Amy.

I must have missed the bit that explained why Ste has them now anyway? I would like to see her back, she was ace and I loved her and Ste as a team, spesh now he's on the outs with Sinead!

I hope so! I am still mad that Emma Smithwick justified a longterm character like Amy to further benefit the relationship between Ste and Brendan! Ridiculous I hope she does come back she deserves to be welcomed back

BIB - IIRC, last we heard, Amy was doing charity work somewhere in Africa with her new man, and the kids are with Ste so they'd have some stability e.g. school, friends etc, rather than moving about a lot.

I think _elly001 is right though - whilst I personally wouldn't mind seeing Amy back, I'm not sure either what her returning would actually do for the show. There's too many storylines being practically ignored as it is, without adding more into the mix.

The problem with bringing Amy back is that Ste would have someone around who loves and cares for him. Hollyoaks want Ste down in the gutter and that can't happen with Amy around.

What I find silly though is Ste has his whole family in the village, yet they're not remotely bothered about his well-being. I suppose it's been established that Danny isn't really interested in Ste, but I would have thought Sam, Tegan and Leela would have been more concerned, but that wouldn't suit Hollyoaks' agenda either. They want Ste at rock bottom so they are alienating him from everyone who can help and support him. And that includes Amy.

I always found her a bit boring. But yeah in reality surely set would let Amy take the kids back rather than social services get involved

^ This. It is ridiculous that none of his family seem to be helping Ste out at the moment. Have none of them seen him lately or something? Not only is he going through a drug addiction but now he is facing social services. I find it unbelievable that not one of them have seemed to notice / heard about it. What is even more shocking is that JP, having only been back a matter of days, had already done more to help Ste than any of his family members have done in the months he has known them.

Instead the writers have shoehorned Leela/Ziggy, are going to have a pointless day-long storyline with Tegan next week and not even mention the rest of his family for goodness knows how long. Why, rather than involving them in his storylines I do not know. I would much rather watch a moving drugs storyline where Ste gets the help from his family/friends than use it as a stupid plot device to further involve him in the crap gangster stuff.

Long run is that it is true that Amy would have already noticed this and at least tried to help Ste through his problems. Even Tony and JP have given up on him too easily (in my opinion), and not even suggested to him that he needs professional help.

Honestly I'm surprised Ste hadn't had a breakdown earlier. Just on the top of my head he; was abused physically and emotionally as a child by his step-dad and mum, abused in a relationship, is a widower, been in a coma, had a close friend (Rae) murdered, nearly slept with his dad, had to cover said dad's affair, almost arrested for a murder he didn't commit and helped his mum in an assisted suicide!

Spoiler
Ste takes the kids back to Amy once Freddie leaves him with no cash after fleecing Grace.

Hmm, it does kind of look that way doesn't it. Ste is the new Mandy - everything bad that can happen happens to him

I have to say, while I could accept Sam and Leela being distracted by the Danny business, you're bang on about Tegan - though since she's apparently dropped off the face of the earth mere weeks after the father of her child was murdered (and she's the one who found his body) I guess we're supposed to believe that she's not fussed either, reinforced by her being involved in a one day bit of fluff next week.

The BIB isn't unusual though... at least for Hollyoaks (yes, I said it). Tom and Cindy anyone? They barely clap eyes on each other, yet they've lived in the same village for years.
