Take a look at @Joancollinsdbe's Tweet: https://twitter.com/Joancollinsdbe/s...563772418?s=09

Walters show has just finished!
We had a wonderful evening Hilda, great seats in the dress circle, but they didn't look up at us for any questions, and the usherette didn't have a microphone, All the questions came from the stalls. I handed in my paper which had the photo of Joan and Barbara on one side, and my question, and story about my arrest on her behalf on the other. Percy didn't read any questions, they had a couple of girls in the stalls who went around with microphones. I didn't really expect to speak to her so I wasn't disappointed. Most of the stories were about what you have already told us, Bette and her fags, her fondness for Paul Newman, and the Tony Curtis incident. She didn't mention Joan Crawford, but spoke very fondly of Gene Kelly

She was ten minutes late starting as it took them four hours to travel from London, but I wasn't bothered as I had a lift there and back from my house, and Canterbury is only 20 minutes away by car.

She never mentioned Shirley Maclaine or Warren Beatty, who has always left me totally indifferent, he does nothing for me at all. The film that she turned down was Jack Cardiff's beautiful production of Son's and Lovers, and she would have played opposite Dean Stockwell. Mary Ure took over her role, but she never got an Oscar for it, so Joan slipped up there.

Hi Walter!
Delighted to hear you enjoyed the show but disappointed you had a similar difficulty to many others in getting to ask your question.
It really can be harder than people think! I'm a bit gutted for you but I won't dwell on it as I can see your taking it in your stride!

Any interesting anecdotes or tales to share?
Was Barbara Stanwyck mentioned by anyone and what did your friend think!

Also on Mary Ure I'm not sure if the mess up is mine or Joan's as I've double checked and she was nominated but didn't win? Perhaps Joan did say nominated and not win? Or perhaps she did say win? The muddle is mine or Joan's but not sure who!

She was a Scottish actress who died tragically in the 1970s and her scottishness was probably the main reason she was mentioned at the Edinburgh show to be bespoke for the audience.

Oh I've had many a dream about Warren Beatty Dreams I couldn't repeat publicly!

The show was supposed to begin at 7.30, they were 15 minutes late as it took them 4 hours to travel from London by car. They should have taken the train because it takes less than 90 minutes by rail.

I loved the way that Dame Joan described the word that Tony Curtis had called her by referring to it a C U Next Tuesday!

Hilda, I must confess that I didn't know that Mary Ure had been Nominated for Sons and Lovers. The outstanding performance for me in that beautiful film was the wonderful Wendy Hiller, as Dean Stockwell's mother. Incidentally Dean had a very convincing British accent. in this 1960 adaption of the D.H. Lawrence novel

She never mentioned Barbara, but I knew that wasn't likely to happen if I didn't get my question answered.

My friend Claire loved the whole experience, and left me a lovely message on Facebook, along with a photo that she asked someone to take of us when we were in the bar during the interval.

I have been recording The Virgin Queen for her this afternoon, as she was fascinated with the story of Bette and her fags, and is really dyiing to see the film.. .

Oh I couldn't agree more! Both him and James Dean. I really don't get it,

Brad Pitt is another, and although he is not an actor, in fact he can't even speak properly, I will also add that tattooed horror, David Beckham to the list of so called Sex Gods who's appeal totally baffles me.

To get right off the subject, but to get this thread going again after four days, (where are you Hilda? )

I have just heard that I have a place in next years London Marathon, just 12 days before I turn 80. It should be quite a memorable year!

Thanks Dan, and now my best friend tells me that he and some other friends are treating me to a Wing Walk for my 80th birthday. He wanted it to be a surprise, but I had to get a letter from my Doctor to prove that I am fit enough to be strapped on top of a plane, even though I am fitter than most 35 year olds.

Walter - I think what you are doing is wonderful and inspirational. I am exhausted just reading it lol.

You should contact The One Show - I could see you being interviewed on the sofa by Matt Baker, regarding your joy for life!

Ps - Till the End of Time, starring Guy Madison is on BBC2 on Saturday at 6am - I think that's the film that was on a few weeks ago and got everyone discussing Guy and Walter telling us about Guy and Rory?

Thanks David, that is a good idea, I keep Good Morning Britain updated with my progress since I was last on there in January, but maybe I should give the BBC a try.

I can't recall whether I mentioned it but two weeks ago I took part in the Sittingbourne 10 mile run, and completed it in 2 hours, 1 minute, 57 seconds. Last Sunday I did my best ever run, the Ashford 10, and completed it in 1 hour, 6 minutes, 27 seconds. I came 995 out of 1094 runners, I have never finished with 99 runners behind me, and all younger of course.

Till the End of Time is certainly worth watching, if only for Guy, not a great talent in the acting department, but he had it everywhere else!

Take a look at Joan Collins (@Joancollinsdbe): https://twitter.com/Joancollinsdbe?s=09

An element of speculation about this but it's very curious that Joan Collins has suddenly started following the twitter account of Jamie Lee Curtis daughter of Hollywood legend's Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis -especially given the uncomplimentary remarks Joan made about her father at her recent theatre show?? (still a few stories to tell about this show! )

Can't think why Joan would suddenly start following the loyal daughter of the man she loathes unless word has gotten back to Joan that word has gotten to Jamie about her comments!
Afterall Jamie is married to a British peer I believe and Joan's London Palladium show was widely reported on in the press! 😁

Walter, I would definitely contact The One Show, more viewers and I could so see you on the sofa - its' an inspirational human interest story. I could even see you being filmed in black and white for the wing walk segment

I really admire you. I cannot run for the life of me but feel I should take up jogging. I recorded the Joe Wicks fitness show on Channel 4 the other week but haven't watched it yet lol - I am looking for inspiration to take up some sport.

Never seen Guy act in anything but will record this.

Keep on running x

David, I am 46 years older than you, now that should inspire you to take up running.

I was 69 when I took it up, so you really have plenty of time. I started off on th treadmill in the gym, just remember, take it slowly, there is no rush.

I will definitely contact The One Show this week, it would be fun to be on TV again.

Congratulations to us, we have just passed the 130.000 viewers milestone.

I don't do twitter, in fact I don't understand it. Now you need to catch up on all the messages that you have missed while you have been absent.

I am thinking of giving up Corrie, it is almost unwatchable, and I have seen it from day one in December 1960.

Oh for the days of the divine Annie Walker, and her rival landlady, Nellie Harvey, sheer bliss!

They put today's so called Soap "actresses" to shame, also the wonderful Jean Alexander as Hilda Ogden, and not forgetting the lovely Betty Driver.

LOVED her!!

The scene when she opened the package containing Stan's glasses was one of the greatest pieces of acting that I have seen on TV over the past 60 years.
