Hilda - I am not sure about Hitchcock assaulting any other actress but I agree with Walter, that he was obsessed by blondes and Tippi had mentioned before he was cruel to her on set etc, I think a few actresses have said before that he was not great to work with as he could be a tyrant on set. Saying that, quite a few actors and actresses worked with him more than once so maybe he was not all bad?
Love many of his films though.”

David - it was November 1936 that Barbara, Zeppo Marx, and William S Hart purchased 127 acres of the Porter Estate, Northridge, Los Angeles. Fifty of the finest Kentucky thoroughbred racers were moved in as soon as their quarters were ready. The ranch was designed to be a thoroughbred breeding, boarding and training ranch. A six furlong racing track allowed the young yearling's that they bred to be trained. Barbara and Zeppo were not directly involved with the training. That was the responsibility of their ranch manager Harry S Hart.
Bob Taylor owned an adjoining ranch, but after their May 1939 marriage he moved into Marwyck, and he helped run the ranch, and shared Barbara's love of riding horses.
Incidentally, she did all of her own riding in Forty Guns, including the drag when her foot was caught in the stirrup. Not surprising that she was made an Honorary Stuntwoman, as well as being adopted by the Blackfoot Indian tribe, and given the title, Princess Many Victories lll.
