I recall Kate Mulgrew appearing three times as well. And she played all three characters so differently as well.

I know Ruth Roman did, and Gloria de Haven and Kathryn Grayson who I forgot to mention in that list. They all appeared together working in a Beauty Salon.
I believe that Angela tried to get as many of her old MGM colleagues as possible. Quote:
Charles Laughton, a very young Prunella Scales as his daughter, John Mills, and Brenda de Banzie who steals the film even from the great Laughton.

Sounds like Angela Lansbury was quite popular in Hollywood amongst the old guard. Did you see her shocking confession a while back?! 😱
Sounds like a good choice. I dare say it will be considered ripe for a remake soon knowing Hollywood! I have never known a remake that was a success, but it doesn't matter to me because my cinema going days are long over.

Something we have in common, I have been sleeping in the raw for the past half Century!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Does it make you feel very sexy? Are you doing it in anticipation of a lover seeking you out? 😉 Not something I can Imagine Jessica Fletcher doing! |

Hard to believe that she was 85, but then then Margaret O'Brien the younger sister is the same age as me, so I don't know why I am surprised.

One of my favourites too Walter with the original and best version of this song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yudgy30Dd68 ![]() She was such a big box office name by 1944 that she took second billing after Judy, and over the legendary Mary Astor. Incredible to realise that she turns 80 next month.

You don't feel sexy at almost 80 Hilda, as you will discover if you are lucky enough to reach it.

Perhaps I can help him appear in your Christmas stocking suitably minimally dressed?! 😁 😉 |

Time flies so quickly! Would Margaret O'Brian presumably be the only cast member still alive? Long may she reign!
Awe Congrats at your achievements and much deserved compliments at the gym today. I wonder if any Hollywood actors of similar age to you are still working out at the gym? Robert Redford perhaps? The Daily Mail or some paper where trying to slate his body's condition on a beach a few days ago but he looked in damned fine condition for his age even if at 80 he had a little paunch compared to his sex God days! A definite DILF or sexy grandpa 😍😁😘 I will pray for Danny Mac to feel the pull of your crush towards him in a strongly magnetic way! Perhaps I can help him appear in your Christmas stocking suitably minimally dressed?! 😁 😉 Robert Redford has more wrinkles than me, probably all the time he spends in the sun, the teeth look capped, and that blond thatch on his head looks very unreal. I don't want Danny minimally clothed, I would like him in white tie and tails please Santa. It is much more fun unwrapping your present.

As a huge Issabelle Huppert fan, I thought I would post a link to this film, she has won a lot of critics awards this season. I know we don't post reviews of films but this one is special as it mentions Barbara Stanwyck quite a lot and harks back to the fabulous "women's pictures" of the 1940's

Yes, Margaret is the only member of the cast still alive, and this year Judy has been gone 47 years, exactly as long as she was alive.

I ask because I recall seeing a clip of Shirley Maclaine saying in a Michael Parkinson interview in the 1970s slightly tongue in cheek but making a series point that it was getting harder for older women to get roles because Robert Redford was playing all their parts! 😁 Was he seen as a new man modern man as feminism took off?? |

Your rather harsh on Mr Redford 😁I find ageing sex gods very appealing and I think he's holding up better ageing wise than Clint Eastwood and the ladies on Sky News paper review agree with me 😁😉

Interestingly, he got his first big movie break playing Natalie Wood's gay husband in Inside Daisy Clover. |

I don't really know much about Robert Redford, I only saw his films with Paul Newman, for obvious reasons. He just paled in comparison to Paul, although they were a good team. He was just a new leading man who appeared in films that didn't interest me.
Interestingly, he got his first big movie break playing Natalie Wood's gay husband in Inside Daisy Clover. As Joan Collins said at her recent show Paul Newman was one of Hollywood's best. |

A great slideshow of Kirk Douglas pictures in this article and an absolutely BEAUTIFUL photograph of Kirk with Lana Turner. I genuinely hadn't realised how good looking and masculine Kirk Douglas was at his peak. The picture shouts out sexual chemistry to me. I will post link in Walters Kirk thread too so that maximum number of people get chance to look at it. There's also a good pic from 1999 of Kirk on the Oscars red carpet with Janet Leigh. |

Thanks Walter I will be sure to check them out. YouTube indeed the internet is such a blessing for fans of anything from Hollywood's golden era or in some cases gaining new fans for the era amongst younger film lovers. Would you say The bad and the beautiful was a camp film? It certainly sounds camp and also sizzles with sexual chemistry just in that picture of Kirk Douglas and Lana Turner! ![]() Was there an enduring friendship between Kirk and Barbara Stanwyck given his first major role was with her? PS Do you know who the actress is in the linked hot picture of Kirk Douglas please?
