Like all of the great stars, Lana knew how to make an entrance, she also had a wonderful walk, and perfect carriage. That was one of the benefits of the studio system, they really trained the young stars how to present themselves to their best advantage, something sadly lacking today.

I am fortunate enough to have that documentary, and it is totally fascinating.

Thanks Walter -I'm sure I will enjoy looking for some gems of Lana Turner on Youtube especially with Joan Rivers!!

As we are getting near the end of the year and Debbie Reynolds is in the news via her daughter Carrie Fisher's health situation I've decided just to link to a few pics that I like and enjoy.

Linked picture is of Debbie Reynolds with Joan Crawford!

I will post more Hollywood golden era pics later hopefully christmassy one's. ☺

Hilda, I have given my Facebook page on Barbara a Christmas look. At least four of her films had a Christmas theme in them, Remember the Night, My Reputation, No Man of Her Own, and Christmas in Connecticut.

That will be the 1930's, or early '40's, she certainly wouldn't have posed for that sort of photo after she became a big star.

Christmas in Connecticut and My Reputation are particular favourites, and I shall be watching both of them tomorrow. There are lots of clips on YouTube.

I know more about Olivia than you Hilda, she became terribly grand after winning her first Oscar.

Goodness Ava Gardner would have been 94 if she was still alive!

Any other big Hollywood legends were born over the festive period?

I am afraid you are even more unsure of the Star Hilda, it is a very young Jean Simmons.

Angela did look gorgeous in that film, it was The Harvey Girls, she was 21 years old, and her saloon girl character was very mean to Judy Garland.

Thanks I think she looks fab in that picture. ☺

Who played the other Harvey girls or was it just Judy and Angela?
