External mic for iPhone 5
I want to use my iPhone as a dictaphone but with an external lapel clip microphone.
I have a basic mic for my computer and I plugged that in but the playback was pretty poor and quiet. I don't really want to spend loads on a new one but I just want to check if it really is a simple case of plugging a 3.5mm jack microphone in to the headphone socket before I splash out and that the current problem I have is due to the basic mic being a basic one. It does record what I'm saying if I speak directly in to it and it would be fine if that's all I want it for but my plan is to connect the lapel clip mic to just inside my sleeve to record conversations covertly. In threads like this it's usual for at least one public-spirited individual to pop up and state the legal side etc but my planned use is within the law and I'll outline why once I get a solution

Apple have recently said they are going to allow lighting connector headsets so imagine they will also do microphones as well that might be a solution for you. Seems funny they announce that just as they buy beats doesn't it.

As I mentioned in my original post I've already tried using my microphone plugged in to it.

Sorry, I'm going mad, I completely misread your post. I believe making recordings in a public place is fine, it becomes an issue in a private location.

As with all these things it will be down to what you want to spend.
Theres this http://www.musicmatter.co.uk/rode-sm...FabItAodvyYAxw Or this http://www.staples.co.uk/headphone-a...FSjItAod0zQAUg And although other types of mic are reviewed this may give you some idea as to the quality to expect http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ06qn0czak |
