With Sport Relief back in July, the BBC should commission a series of Sport Relief Does Fame Academy . It would be fantastic and would raise the profile of Sport Relief and generate a hell of a lot more cash on the phone votes than Strictly Dance Fever for example.

I would love to see Cat 'n' Pat introduce footballers, athletes....sports stars singing live to the nation on BBC One. A good idea?

That would be a ratings winner! But doubt bbc would do this

He isn't essential but Paddy Kielty will be hosting Celeb Love Island during Sport Relief I'd predict.

The Beeb won't be making a Sport Relief edition but Comic Relief Does Fame Academy is very likely to return in 2007. Would be great if it was even sooner though...

I am quite sure that it will be back but only in the Celebrity format for charity.

There was some kind of "racing" programme on recently, withh all the Fame Academy "staff" Richard, Jeremy, David and Kevin racing each other!
They do seem to be keeping the concept alive

I only liked the first Fame Academy with Malachi, Sinéad, Davidetc on it. Didn't think much ofthe celeb ones, only the one where your man from Two Pints of Lager....... was in as he was a good singer.

Couldn't even watch the one with Alex etc in it as it was rubbish.

I would guess now that Alex has been dropped that there's no chance of there being another normal series of FA. Maybe just as well considering how everyone except Lemar who has managed to get a record contract has been treated poorly by their companies.

I'm in favour of the BBC maybe commisioning a documentary style music show rather than a normal talent show

The trend seems to be for celeb reworks of the theme - celebs can wrestle, sit on beaches, dance, ice dance, learn to sing, cook, drive fast cars.... but non celebs are not distinctive enough for the BBC....

They've also got a real problem with the fame idea. The viewers may pick the best singers to get to the finals and win but its not now clear that being able to sing means wanting to sing songs that bring you fame or that music buying audiences buy. Fame academy looks an increasingly odd title....

Yeah, I touched upon this in my last post, but what I would like to see is the BBC commision a new show, in which basically, a "talent search" type thing is conducted, like in fame academy, that goes around looking for singer/songwriters that seem to have potential, but who have very little experience. A few (3 or 4) would be picked to go on the show, and they would all be given (small) record contracts at the beginning of the show. The show itself would then be a documentary, following these artists as they get vocal coaching, songwriting and dance/fitness lessons like they did in FA, but without the big brother element. You'd also get to follow them round some gigs that are set up for them, so there would be an element of the winners story documentaries from FA too.

The public wouldn't be able to vote people in these shows off, as they would all stay until the end of the series, but you could have votes maybe that influenced their development, such as having songwriting competitions etc. at the end of it though, they are all winners, with small record contracts, and from there they can work their way up, rather than starting at the top and inevitably falling from there very quickly

I think the BBC should have made "Fame Academy: Just the two of us." and instead of the likes of LULU had the Fame Academy team tutor and then judge them. It should have happened from the Fame Academy and worked in the same way as Comic Relief. I think it would have been a much bigger ratings winner.

Gotta love the way "Just the 2 of Us" is presumably original and valuable wheras FA which showed the processes and was a far better format can't be shown because its derivative. Love the way too that "just..." got the nod because it got there before its ITV clone. Gives a whole new meaning to original and distinctive even if the standard of singing is far worse than in either FA or CFA and we llearn nothing about music or shaping a song for presentation.,

The X Factor completely stole FA's thunder. Can't see it ever making a comeback now...

It wont be back, it wasnt the huge success the BBC wanted, although it did quite well. I prefered series 1 on a Friday nightt in 2002, brings back memories of when I lived in a caravan and used to wrap up warm to watch it.

I think David Sneddon and Alex Parks were a big part of its downfall, like Michelle Mcmanus brought down Pop Idol.

With a Celebrity version of The Apprentice comissioned and expected to be striped nightly on BBC One on the run up to Red Nose Night 07 I doubt that Comic Relief Does Fame Academy will be brought back,I really wish is was tho.

BTW; Sport Relief presents..Only Fools on Horses is made by the Comic Relief Does Fame Academy production team under Exec Producer Louise Rainbow. Ruby Wax is taking part too!

The one and only satisfaction i got from the run of Celeb X Factor was how evident it became that Comic Relief Does Fame Academy was so superior in every respect.

Dont keep hanging on for the regular Fame Academy's return people. It 100% is not happening! Deceased. Fact. Shame.

sad to say your are right. regular Fame Academy's os gone for good..........but...keep a eye out for a new show in 2007 on the bbc, based on the Fame Academy idea, there is somthing afoot, ideas are been made at the bbe about a show where we can view 24/7, after a feww weeks the show will spin off into once a weeek show for 12 weeks.

all sounds a bit much to me, but there should be a ad going out in Stage by the end of the year if the money is put up.

this will be the 3rd time a show like this has been put to the beeb lets hope they run with this run.

thats all i know about it, not even sure its to do with music, the last idea the beeb ha was to do with acting and west end shows.

Why would the BBC not want to bring Fame Academy back when it seems to be so popular? I don't understand.

The bigger question is, Will Cat Deeley return for the CFA?

Didn't the BBC announce an end to the copycat shows some time ago? I guess this was the signal to end FA as it was very close to the Pop Idol /X Factor format.

I think programmes like Ground Force and Changing Rooms ended around the same time.

Cat Deeley is unlikely to be back. She'll be fronting the new series of American Idol for the British audience on ITV throughout the series. No time for Comic Relief in her schedule. It'll be Fearne Cotton that'll do it
