Firstly - a slight update to modernise the opening titles and theme. This updated version of the theme will play as video images of Manchester go by, then the last 20 seconds will be The Viaduct, Rovers, Coronation Street and a cat walking along the rooftops like the old days with "Coronation Street" appearing in smoke in the skyline.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lebx8wdQE-8

Secondly - Next some good storylines and material for the cast, which will be downsized slightly. A few will perish in a small disaster. Details of the exciting plots coming up are written in italic font at the end of this post.

thirdly - A mix of character driven scenes about day to day life, and some comedy and some drama. Most episodes will end with a cliffhanger. Some example cliffhangers appear in bold and italic at the bottom of this post

fourthly Catchy music in the background of most scenes. The Rovers would play songs like these

http://youtu.be/z15vxE_muXc?t=1m56s
http://youtu.be/CTUyKPp30pI?t=55s

However, to keep in with characters, Rita and Emily would play this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNuX7bs2qAM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ke8mzgex4U

and kids would play chart music. Roy would have classical.

Here are the plots that would make every episode unmissable - there will be comedy and everyday scenes mixed in too don't forget!

Rita has to retire from the newsagency and move in with Emily. Scenes of Rita and Emily gossiping over dinner / tea become the norm like in the old days. Spider returns to live with Emily, but soon Spider's wife who is a hippy turns up and surprises him with the news that shes having his baby in 2 months but has only 6 months to live herself. Furthermore, the commune on which Spider's girlfriend lived a large part of her life is coming to hunt down the baby as it is the chosen one.

The Rovers is sold and Norris is deeply shocked when his nephew and family are the new owners. The eldest son causes a lot of trouble in the street as he comes to terms with his diagnosis of huntington's disease and his bisexuality. The other 3 children are unique in their own way, with one being a goth who is also secretly pregnant, a cheeky chappy whos always in trouble at school, and a young Hannah Martin from Neighbours type.

Mavis returns to help out Norris in the Newsagents for a while

A big twist is revealed whe the nephew reveals to Norris hes his son

Sally is diagnosed with a tumour on her spine, she can be saved but might never walk again.

Some returnees crop up for surprise guest appearances. Sarah Lou, Martin Platt, Bet Lynch, Garry Mallet, Reg Holdsworth, 60's - 80's characters, Raquel.

Dev is shocked when Reg Holdsworth buys up Better Buy chain and revamps the supermarket with cheap deals he finds it a struggle to compete with. The Better Buy supermarket is more prominent and characters get jobs there, customers are fun to interact with, and Reg and Dev end up wrestling in the fruit section to the amusement of other customers.

Dev and Dedrie re ignite their flames of passion in time for Ken's return. But which of Dev's ex wifes is having a breakdown and begins stalking Deadrie?

Gail wins some money on the lottery but unfortunately gets diagnosed with MS shortly afterwards. Some days she finds it hard to walk, and she loses her eyesight. David takes advantage of blind Gail by slowly making her think she is losing the plot. David does get redeemed though. in a massive plot twist, he suffers more seizures and is found to have a brain tumour.

A mysterious Russian woman turns up claiming to be Kevin's sister. Said Russian woman develops an obsession with Roy much to Mary's horror

A lorry crash wipes out 4 long term characters

Cliffhangers

Gail is pushing Sally's wheelchair when she has an attack of MS and is pushing Sally towards some very steep steps outside a museum

As Dev and Reg fight, they knock over a display and it crashes down on top of Eileen

Tyrone takes a car for a test drive and its brakes fail

Kirk and Maria get a huge castle left to them by a rich aunt whos passed away...their faces are shocked when they see said castle

Gail is blind and David is in the corner of the room sneering and he has re arranged the furniture

Rita falls asleep leaving the iron on

The only revamp they need is Jimmy McGovern in as exec producer and chief storyliner. I've been re-watching his three series of The Street and it's testament to how powerful and emotive Corrie could be in the right hands.

I think the main prob with corrie is that is suffering from the competition, all the other soaps are better, the producer of corrie seems to want it to be camp and abit dreary just floating along, which is fine for brain dead viewing but its not really appointment tv anymore, were as eastenders is now going from strength to strength

whilst some of the ops ideas are ok, theres not much point writing fan fiction here,

i think corrie just needs some stroylines, and good ones, everything just seems a little last min, this tinas murder has been dire, and its a shame as cala especialy been brilliant

I have to say, much of that just sounds really depressing. I for one wouldn't want to watch any character suffer with MS, having had a family member suffer with it for many years.

Dev and Deidre...really?

Castle...huh??

Like the idea of Rit and Emily though, and the idea of funny filler scenes is certainly a good one.

I'm pretty sure the OP's post is an extended satire both of those forum members who seem unable to accept that it's 2014 and not 1984 (somebody on here the other day recommended bringing back Debbie Webster. WTF??) and of the Corrie producers who still cleave to the tired notion that Corrie mixes tragedy and comedy, melodrama and the mundane, in golden proportions dictated by some alchemical secret formula.

The sad truth is that the writers confuse drama with sensationalism and the everyday with cliche. Coupled with the fact that the show has become saddled with a growing number of "lifers" in the cast who are way past their sell by date, it can be a chore at times to watch.

If you watch Neighbours Susan't MS comes and goes randomly, its the nature of the condition for some sufferers.

MS can be in remission for a long time and then return. It's a recurrent condition and one that a soap could explore, although I doubt any of the current writers have the patience to make it a potentially long-term storyline without sensationalising it with assisted suicide or something.

Like they did in Waterloo Rd (suicide with no assistance) and EE where she just was such a forgettable character, that I'm not sure anyone remembers anyway (that she had MS) market manager's ex wife, you are right, they don't have the patience for it......nor do I, and I have actually got it!

Bring back Percy! Very simple just use old footage and by the power of modern technology he can be sat in the Rovers having a chin wag with his new pals Michelle Connor and Kirk Sutherland.

I damn well hope so. If not then maybe he should stick to his precious Aussie soaps.

Personally the whole street should be flattened and turned into a massive car park. And the final shot should be the camera going past the residents sad faces. Roll on credits. This should be part of the 55th Anniversary and sort of familiar to the save the cobbles plot from 2000, only this time the council succeed. And the man behind it is Les Battersby who comes back for a guest return and he rubs his hands together and cackles.
