I wouldn't necessarily say she's homophobic. But she does have a rather restrictive view of what constitutes a 'proper' relationship.
Opposing contraception seems pretty nonsensical to me, but she is from a religious background, so I imagine she was brought up around people holding that view.

With or without her permission same sex marriage is written in the law and can be practiced, so what she thinks or believes is her given right and should not make any difference to what a gay couple can or can not do.

Nobody is saying that anybody can't have an opinion. All that's being said is that an opinion which expresses homophobia is a homophobic opinion. She's allowed to think that gay people shouldn't be allowed to get married, and we are allowed to hold the opinion that that makes her a homophobe.

I agree, and there is a lot of religious hatred which seems to be ok with the same people who accuse others of homophobia.

Hmm, I'd wager some are opposed to it. But to say that most of those who object to gay marriage are gay themselves is plainly wrong. Most of the opposition to it came from the Church and social conservatives - groups that are chock-full of straight, white, and usually old, men. They might include some gay people, but by and large, they're a straight-fest.
