Nexus 5 Revisions
TheVoid

Hi, I ordered my Nexus 5 from Amazon this week and it's here!

However, I think it's the very first model with the smaller speaker holes and the phone rattles very slightly when shaken - due to the power button I think.

Does it matter? Is it actually faulty or is it fine?

Thanks

Is there somewhere you can check serial numbers?

Mine doesn't do that, which i bought from JL a few months ago.

mine is the first model too and doesn't rattle.

but if it is the buttons i figure they may be full of detritus.

Mine is Rev 11 and not the latest 12. The power button rattles slightly.

I think it's ok, was just a design flaw which was rectified later on.

There are no hardware revisions, the 10, 11 and 12 mean manufactured in October, November and December thats all.

As I said in the other thread, there is indeed a different revision. The latest one has a modified power button so it doesn't rattle and bigger speaker holes.

Yeah - Stiggles is correct. Amazon are sending me a replacement tomorrow. I guess it's pot luck if I get an old version or a new one, but for £280 I'd expect the latest revised model in all honesty.

Not a hardware revision then is it.

Oddly my first one with small holes didnt have a rattle on the power button and my second one with marginally larger holes doesn't have a rattle on the power button.

Here is a quiz for you.

What do you call a revision to hardware? That's right a hardware revision.

It may be the camera rattling, not the power button. The camera mechanism has some moving parts - mine makes a rattling noise if I tap the phone near the camera. Solution: don't tap the phone

New one came tomorrow. Has the bigger speakers holes and the solid power button. Happy!

I've had this with multiple phones. It's for the autofocus, I think.

My N5 rattles a bit, no idea if it is the buttons or not. It's in a case anyway so it doesn't really matter.

I see you're able to time travel and somehow get a delivery on a Sunday
