The only way I knew BB had started was when someone mentioned it on my local radio this morning?

I only found out yesterday morning when Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs and The Voice mentioned it on twitter

Can't have been much. I watch Channel 5 a lot and have seen absolutely nothing about BB. Most annoying cos I missed the launch which is usually my favourite part

You've missed half the launch, launch part two is tonight.

A wee consolation for me then. Thank you.

Is this the old "if they advertised it, they'd have millions more viewers" myth?

In every paper I looked in, it was not only in the tv listings but highlighted as something to watch.

There's been a advert running on channel 5 now for the last few weeks, not sure if it's had a advert on any other channels, there's been snip bits in the daily star and interviews with ryan and emma in last weeks ok magazine/new/star

I didn't say that. Nobody expects anything like the viewing figures to be like they were years ago but I'm sure if more people knew it was on their figures would be a bit higher. They would have had at least one more viewer last night!!!! Personally I don't read the tv listings in newspapers. All of the programmes I watch are advertised on TV and I would expect BB to be the same.

I only found out this was starting when I looked on here end of May. I don't watch channel 5 much so didn't see any adverts on tv for it

So how many more viewers do you think it would have?

It would have to be a big enough number for it to be worth C5 spending the money advertising it more widely than it already does. I don't think there's any good reason to think there's a large number of people whose only reason for not watching BB is that they don't know it's on.

Do you know of any good reason to think there isn't?

There's clearly a lot less interest in BB than there used to be. Even you're saying "nobody expects anything like the viewing figures to be like they were years ago".

The number watching pretty much always goes down after the launch, even though word of mouth, media coverage of the launch, tweets, and so on, ensure that more people know it's on.

The people at C5 are in a much better position than we are when it comes to assessing whether more money spent on advertising would increase the audience enough to be worth the money; and they've decided not to spend more on advertising.

I only found out it was back yesterday afternoon. The marketing has been shoddy to say the least.

Not just me then. Someone else was on FB saying seeing comments on there about it was her first clue it was back on.

I missed the launch night too. Hadn't seen anything about it. Usually I glance at newspaper front pages when I'm in the supermarket or I look online at newspapers or news sites. There wasn't anything on the forum advertising the start date. I looked at the front page a few days ago and I didn't see any excited thread title such as Thursday night!!! OMG!!! I can't wait!!!! Nor did I know there is a second launch night until I read it on another thread here a few minutes ago. Oh well.

It was very quiet on the forum up until yesterday. I only found out by chance last week as my daughter mentioned it in passing.

I only knew it was on from looking at this forum but I'm not watching it anyway.

Not until we get a live feed.

I'm surprised at that. I would have expected a definite buzz around the forum in the lead up to opening night.
