Cant connect Xbox to TV

Hi, I got a new tv but I cant connect the xbox to the tv except by composite connectors which gives really bad quality and cant play half our games. The new tv doesn't have an hdmi slot and everything i've tried so far hasn't worked.

I have a phillips 42PF5520D/10 tv (manual - http://download.p4c.philips.com/file...10_dfu_eng.pdf )
I have the xbox slim
These are the cables /connectors i have
- hdmi to hdmi cable
- the xbox cable that has red green blue red white and yellow ports on the other end ( this )
- a hdmi to dvi adaptor ( this )
- a rgb to scart ( this )

I cant seem to get any combination of these to work, if anyone would be able to help me i would really appriciate it

You should be able to use the HDMI lead plus the HDMI/DVI adapter to connect the xbox to the TV. The TV has a DVI socket on the back.

What you may have to do is play about with the resolution settings on the xbox to find one that works with the TV. Which could be a challenge if you can't see anything! Though if you can get the Composite to work that might let you see the menu settings for HDMI so you can see to change them then switch to the DVI input on the TV and see if it has made any difference.

Another oddity to look out for. We have an old Phillips flat panel TV here at work. It has a single DVI socket but on the Source select menu are two options PC and HD both of which use the DVI input. However if you get a picture on PC chances are you see nothing on HD. And vice versa. Why I have no idea at all as it's the same input!

If your Phillips is the same might be worth switching between HD and PC sources if it has them. You never know one might work

Well that won't work anyway, it's a totally useless item that won't fit anything

As chrisjr said, the HDMI to DVI should work.

But assuming the 360 has Component?, you could get a Component lead for it and use that, it gives HD just as HDMI does.

It's hardly a new TV is it - that particular telly hasn't been manufactured in 8 years. So although it doesn't support HDMI input, it does have a DVI input slot. So, you could use your HDMI to DVI adaptor to convert the HDMI output from your Xbox to DVI input on the TV.

Edit - sorry, started typing this half an hour ago then phone went. It seems Chris and Nigel have already answered.

The manual linked to in the OP is a bit confusing.

It mentions Analogue PC (YPbPr) but there are no phono sockets visible in the diagrams for Component in.

It does however claim that you can plug a VGA source into it via the DVI socket. But the diagram looks suspiciously like a DVI-D digital only socket not a DVI-I hybrid analogue/digital type I would expect to see. Plus I can't say I have ever heard anyone use DVI-I as input, only ever seen DVI-I as output. But not to say it can't happen.
