Your opinion on pet portraits?

I am an artist, and my current work is mainly celebrity portraits.

I am unsure of how to post a photo example here (or if I can) but I am wanting to get some opinions on producing similar works of pets.
(My celebrity examples can be found on Twitter @EmmaBondArt and Facebook /EmmaBondArt)

I would like to get your opinion on the following;

1. Would you buy a portrait, in the same style, of your pet? (or as a gift)

2. What sort of price would you expect to pay for something like this, hand painted?

3. Would you be more likely to buy a portrait of yourself/family/friends/celebrities, or a portrait of your pet?

To upload a photo to the forum you need to first upload it to an online photo hosting site such as Flickr or photobucket, etc, then link to it like this......https://www.flickr.com/photos/peugeo...n/photostream/

Personally, I'm an amateur photographer in my spare time so I would do my own portraits.

I can't help you with the answers to the other questions due to the above.

We don't really have spare cash for stuff like this prefer to send what we have on the dogs but if we did have money we might. Wouldn't spend much though as generally we prefer more candid photographs, making them into collages or albums.

This is something I've considered doing, on and off, for some years now - Producing the pictures I mean (as opposed to buying one)
I've always pencil-sketched, and have sometimes put framed pictures of my own dogs on my walls. Over the years, maybe a couple of dozen people have asked if I'd do pictures of their pets for them (some half-jokingly, but several were serious about the offer)...

So there's definitely a market for it - though I've never got round to pursuing it myself, I've always had other projects on the go.
I suppose the key would be in the advertising - getting your work 'out-there' and seen.

I commission artwork for publishers and I also illustrate. I have a degree in fine art and design and I worked hard for it. I refuse to spend money for Photoshop filters or someone tracing a photo of my dog. Like designer, the word artist is greatly abused these days.
