Just wondering if anyone else would clarify what they mean?”
I think in most cases, posters are referring to the character not the actor. However, just as in life there are some who have difficulty distinguishing between fiction and reality. For example, there have been many, many posts about the character of Michelle in corrie, many of which are negative. Some posters come out saying "but I thought Kym Marsh acted that part brilliantly!" It's not a question of whether she acted it well, but of the character herself drawing a negative reaction. On the same token there have been posts about not liking the character of Michelle because of the actress and so on.
There are some who like or dislike the actor and that fields down into how they like or don't like a character, which I don't really understand myself but we all aren't meant to understand everything I suppose. To me, liking an actor doesn't mean their character can't be flawed, make mistakes, 'do wrong', or otherwise, in the same way disliking an actor doesn't mean that the character they play isn't likeable or deserving of admiration or sympathy. There are multiple characters I'm not fond of, but I can't say I dislike the actor/actress as I don't know them and I cannot really dislike someone I don't know personally. Even their persona in interviews, in magazines etc may still be a facade, or just a drive to get more attention, and may not be an accurate representation of who they are out of the limelight. Myself personally I tend to admire the actors who treat their roles as their job or career and are not constantly in the tabloids with personal stories to tell (different from celebs that are photographed out and about and in tabloids or magazines,) but that doesn't mean I have anything personal against those who are.
I think they're all kinds of fans on this forum and that makes it a quite enjoyable, if not sometimes infuriating, place to escape the real world
