Similarly in Thailand once I had a really bad hangover (too much Thai whisky!) and the only food that I could cope with was a McDonalds chicken burger. The next day I was fine and back to eating the street food - but I did try to stop off the local whisky.

The other good thing about their restaurants is that you know that they will have air conditioning, clean toilets and free wifi so they can be good places to escape the local heat and humidity for a while.

People might want to know if the product tastes the same as at home or the country might offer different items on the menu.”

On that point, I watched a programme last night called Fast Food Gone Global which was exactly on that topic.
It showed the variations in different countries for religious or cultural differences.

It seems a shame that the only changes we get to a menu in McD is a cheeseburger with a different sauce for a month.

The show is repeated on Saturday on Food Network

There isn't really such a thing as 'typical Spanish food' though. It's a country whose cuisine varies widely. I expect if you asked most people their idea of 'typical' Spanish dish they would say paella - which, of course, is traditional to a coastal area of the country.

Naturally, if you go to somewhere like Barcelona you're going to find a lot of places doing fish, but it's not difficult to find a wide variety of good restaurants if you get off the beaten track a bit. The Catalans make some fantastic sausages, for example.

I read an article, well it was mainly photos of the variations available within McDonalds in different countries. The vegetarian options within Indian McDonalds look so much nicer and there's more available than the UK vegetarian 'option'

There's a Wimpy in Nottingham. Not seen a Wendys here though.

We prefer proper restaurants rather than fast food places
