I think Abi is a top contender...I reckon, she was secretly pregnant, knew Jay would want to keep it after the last scare, got Lucy's help taking her to a clinic etc, Lucy blackmailed her over it? Then Lucy saw a Jay and Lola kiss, told Abi, Abi lost it and pushed her, didn't think she was dead...

Making an edit to my top three (Denise, Phil, Whitney). Move over Whitney... come in Dean.

I'm pretty sure the killer is either Denise, Phil or Dean. If not, I'm also pretty suspicious of Whitney and Peter.

No, he didn't. Peter did. But Peter didn't kill Lucy. Either Denise, Phil or Dean did.

I think Abi did it and Jay covered for her. He may have hoped that the police would think Lucy was killed by a random mugger. I don't think it's a coincidence that Jay once hit Lucy in the head and took her phone and now Lucy has been found dead with a head injury and a missing phone.

I didn't watch the show before the murder so I'm just going from what I've seen since then.

Jane and Denise - I don't think they're as innocent as made out to be. Denise in particular looked worried when the murder was revealed

Abi - she always looks suspicious, particularly when she knew about Max and Lucy

Though it will probably be someone like Aleks or Les, I hope they make it quite a central character with a strong motive, like Denise or Peter

You've got it The clip of Peter in the allotments on the 'There's a killer amongst them' trailer is significant to an act of Peter's in the actual show. As is Max taking out the bins - he disposed of evidence that put him in the frame for killing Lucy.

Anyone else not noticed how at the start of the 'There's a killer amongst them' trailer, we see a view of Albert Square from above Phil's house, with smoke emitting from Phil's chimney? And Denise is the first person in the trailer to be seen? And there is very clearly a dark-haired figure watching Ian and Lucy in the middle of the Square gardens in the ariel shot at the start of the trailer, in a similar way that Dean was watching Shirley and the Carters from in the shadows for a while before he publicly returned. That may be Dean.

Watching the reactions of the suspects over the course of the story is not neccessary. Their reactions could mean anything. What we should be looking for are the little clues hidden in plain sight by the producers, like those above.

The killer will be either Phil, Denise or Dean.

I've been sticking with this for a while. I think it'll tie in with the Nick/Les storyline. I suppose you could add dots grandson into the mix for my third choice.

I'm convinced that Nick Cotton has something to do with it...

We still haven't found out what he was hiding to do with Nicks death, what he was paying les for or what his mother was helping him hide.
There was a moment when Dot went to the station and they hadn't heard of him (he said he was under cover) there seem to be far too many unanswered questions and things we don't know about him

Do you think it may have been Peter who buried the phone/purse? In the trailer for the who killed lucy storyline, Peter was in the allotments digging, which was a bit weird.

Could be a red herring though.
