Simple question and it would be interesting to see people's thoughts. There's a poll to come and hopefully I haven't left out anyone too obvious.

I think one of the Argentina players is in with a good shout because they have a relatively weak group where they can ratchet up the numbers and have a good chance of progressing deep into the tournament.

Btw, how long does it take for a poll to appear?

EDIT: Appeared as soon as I hit post...

Messi, Neymar and Fred are obvious shouts. Argentina and Brazil have groups that they COULD tear up.

I went with other though. Fancy Higuian as an outside shout granted he get's the game time for Argentina. I fancy Germany to possibly win the entire thing too so might throw something on Muller or somebody else in the side.

Voted Messi.

Djeko, Drogba, Y.Toure and Lukaku should be up there.

I've voted for Aguero.

My only doubt is that he was rinsed by City in the last few months of the season & he might not be fully fit.

Voted Balotelli but think Fred could be the man.......

Im going with neymar. I think he will be the player of the tournament. Massive point to prove after a disappointing season with barca. The stage is set for him to light it up. Id fancy brazil to get at least a couple of penalties at some point as well which should be converted by neymar

Higuain and Klose are possibilities if they can make the first XI and they have a decent chance of that, I think. Could Villa make the Spanish side or is he going to be supersub?

If it's horses for courses then I'll go for Klose. Why not?

Difficult to look beyond Neymar or Messi. But if the scoring for Brazil and Argentina is shared, Diego Costa might have a shout..if he's fully fit and Spain progress to the final.
I will boringly go for Neymar, but it's not something I'll be betting on.

I've got some squids on Benzema, Lukaku, Van Persie, Klose and my outsider bet of Kerzhakov, hoping for another Salenko deal there.

Voted other as I'm going for Lukaku. 33/1 with Coral has gotta be worth a £1 EW of anyones money.

Voted for Neymar and have also had a bet on him at 14/1, as well as Dzeko at 80/1 and RVP at 35/1. Just a tenner on Neymar and a few quid on the other two.

Definitely someone from Argentina as they should absolutely breeze through to the quarter finals. I don't know enough about the squad to pick one name though.

Sorry OP, but had to snigger at Rooney/Sturridge being on the list. I'll eat my hat...

I understand but I'm not English and was a bit worried about catching some flack from England fans for not including some of their players.

I've gone for Messi, mainly because Argentina's group is ridiculously easy. Can see them scoring 5 or 6 against the likes of Iran and Nigeria. Also, although I think Brazil will win the World Cup I think their goals will be spread out amongst a few players.

Can see Ronaldo getting a few in the group stages but I'm not sure Portugal will actually get that far in the competition.

I voted Van Persie. He seems to be the only one with his shooting boots on for Holland, and they did make the final 4 years ago.

I'm surprised Suarez is receiving so many votes. Uruguay are by no means certain to get through the group. At least one from Balotelli, Suarez and Sturridge will only get three games.
It will probably take 5 or 6 goals to win it, and I can't see even the minnows getting a real thrashing..teams are so well organised defensively theses days. So in my opinion you need a player who is with a team that has a chance of going all the way.

Oh I don't know.... Group B? Poor Australia are going to be target practice.

Aguero or Dzeko.

Gone for Aguero.

While the opposition will be marking Messi out of the game, Aguero should be able to find plenty of space.
