GiffGaff Help- Tell me how it works?
I ordered my free Giffgaff SIM after reading it on here, and wanting to know a couple of questions before activating it-
1) What exactly is a goodybag? Is it just like a prepaid, where you top-up set amount and it just deducts from that? 2) If the answer to question 1 is yes, if I want to use it in Europe, it says that data is 45p/mb. Would I get charged extra for using it abroad, or will the money be deducted which I have topped-up? ![]() Btw, I am hoping to go for the £20 unlimited text/data if my questions are answered..

![]() It's also worth understanding the limitations giffgaff places on it's "unlimited" data should you actually be able to use it. |

It's worth checking that giffgaff meets your data needs in terms of performance especially during peak day. It appears to have issues with capacity that often makes data unusable.

Up until a few months ago I was a regular user of GG
Please be aware that the data speeds are terrible and also loads of probs with goody bags not working and trouble getting credit back. I'd use them as a backup at worst and not as a main number |

I've been with giffgaff for a few years now and have never had any problems with goody bags and I get H+ mostly where I live.

80 pages and growing of recent customer 3G performance issues -
http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Con.../td-p/12005946 Giffgaff data experience response - http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/New.../td-p/12877838 giffgaff 256kbps is a good download speed capping - http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/New.../td-p/13096395 giffgaff's change your data usage behaviour or we won't let you buy more unlimited data goodybags - http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/New.../td-p/13059998 giffgaff "unlimited" data FAQ and the we don't have a FUP - http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Lea.../ta-p/12999304 Some customers report receiving data warning to change their usage behaviour after streaming video. "I received an email, what did I do wrong? You haven’t done anything wrong. However, there are certain usage patterns that affect the data experience of other members and this appears to match your natural usage pattern. Sometimes, these usage patterns are seen when very data heavy services (such as high definition streaming or large file downloads) are carried out very regularly during peak hours. Isn't this a fair usage policy? No, you are still free to use your existing data allowance as you see fit and our unlimited data allowance is truly unlimited. We are simply improving the online experience for the majority of our members during peak times. All members can use the full allowance of any goodybag they have purchased. However, members who are found to be in breach of our terms and conditions could be prevented from purchasing an unlimited goodybag in the future." |

I wouldn't go for giffgaff at all, their performance for data usage is possibly the worst of all networks. Using my second phone on giffgaff was horrible to use, which I later switched it to lyca.
If you were needing a network which runs on O2, I would go for lyca, which includes 4G data for no extra cost if you live in a 4G area, or even Three which is also so much better. |
