Celcus Soundbar syncing issues

Hi folks

Just purchased the LG 47LA620V 3D Smart TV, and I picked up a Celcus Bluethooth Soundbar from Sainsburys, thinking it seemed at bargain at £30. Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem with the sound failing to sync correctly with the screen. The sound is slightly ahead of what's going on on the screen, which is pretty infuriating.

The soundbar doesn't seem to work at all when connected directly to the TV, so instead it's been connected through the SKY+ box. I've tried going through the Sky settings and adjusting the AV sync settings. I've also tried this with the TV, to no avail.

I'm just about ready to give up and return the soundbar, but I thought I'd put a query out on here just in case anyone has any ideas that could help.

Cheers!

What connection did you use to connect sound bar audio to the TV ?. Do you get sound when using the TV tuners ?

I used the standard leads that came with the sound bar. When I connected the lead to the 'audio component in' port on the TV, I got no sound at all from the sound bar. That's when I decided to try it through the Sky+ BOX instead.

That's an audio IN to the TV, so you wouldn't get any sound - LG sets generally have no audio outputs you can use - although using a SCART adaptor you may be able to get audio from some inputs.

Well that's why it didn't work. Those sockets are INPUTs you need an OUTPUT from the TV. There may be a pair of Audio Out phono sockets on the TV. Or a digital out (if the sound bar has digital in). Alternatively you might be able to use the headphone out if there is one.

The headphone out is pretty much guaranteed to carry audio from whatever you are watching. Any audio out on phonos or digital might not.

Yeah, I tried it through the headphone out port, as well as the audio component in port, mostly because that's pretty much all there was to try. Either way, I was getting no joy from the TV, hence using the Sky+ box.

I'll probably just return it and see about getting a sound bar that has a bit more about it. Cheers for the input though.

Daft question, but when you plugged into the headphones socket on the telly you did turn up the volume on the TV remote?

No such thing as a daft question! Yeah, I had it turned up full, and while I was getting sound, it was at a really low volume.

OK a few things to try.

When you unplugged the audio lead from the headphone socket did you get sound through the TV speakers? If your TV is anything like my LG it is possible to turn off the speakers in the Sound settings menu, not sure if that also mutes the headphone output as well.

Do you have a set of headphones you can plug into the telly to double check you get any noise out of the thing?

Do you have something like an mp3 player, phone or radio with a headphone jack on that you can plug the lead you used with the telly into.

The latter two tests should tell you if it is the telly or the lead that is the cause of the silence.

Basically if headphones in telly are silent and lead into mp3/whatever makes a noise then the lead is OK and either the telly is faulty or some setting is not correct.

If the headphones make a noise in the telly and the lead in the mp3/whatever is silent then either the lead is faulty or not plugged into the soundbar properly.

Though from what I can tell from the sparse information on the interweb about the soundbar it only has a single input. So if that works with the Sky box - presumably using the phono to phono lead not the phono to jack lead - then it suggests either the jack lead or the TV is the cause of the silence.

It should work fine from the headphone socket, possibly you had a problem somewhere?.
