There is too much love for Mata at United.

I can't imagine doing without his weekly blogs tbh.

He's intelligent both on and off the pitch and a thoroughly decent bloke. Just hope LVG sees what Utd fans see.
I am sure some fans (not sure how many have signed the bring back Mata petition, Last I heard it was one man and his dog) would say the having the blog's would make it worth the transfer fee alone (which is a good thing because he would not be getting any game time if he returned)

A few media sources have Oscar leaving and Pogba or Koke coming in. The midfield definitely needs a shake up imo, and Oscar should go. Also talk of Sterling coming in. He says he wants trophies and Chelsea would give him that. If the club did get him, it would take a bid approaching a bid for Bale having said that. Both players are world class attackers who would give that extra dimension.
I would be surprised to see him leave as wasn't he one of the reasons there was no place for Mata in the team?

Oscar should not go anywhere.

He is probably one of the hottest prospects in world football. We need to keep players like this.

Letting kdb go seems also to be a mistake, but where would we have played him?

It would be great to see a Pogba matic midfield though

The main problem with Pogba is his agent. He has some high profile clients who seem to move clubs a lot. Super Mario and Zlatan for instance.

Pogba is on his third club already.

Is that the agent who is now advocate for Lukaku?

He was in the press saying he was better than Costa!

Yes,the very one.

I'm sure Pogba had a different agent when he first joined Utd. I'm sure he was partly responsible for him getting cold feet at Utd.

As for Lukaku, I wish him luck at a bigger club because I think he's found his level tbh. Well done getting 28 million for him.

I think he will do very well at Everton (if he stays) ok they not the biggest club in England but they are a decent sized club and are well run. He could have a really good career there

He could, but unf Lukaku believes his own hype, that's why he was surplus to requirements at the bridge.

Look for him forcing a move to a club that's too big for him.

It was more of the system that made Mata redundant in our team rather than Oscar. Mata has fantastic vision, ball control, first touch and set piece ability but he lacks pace, mobility and he's unable to keep the ball when under pressure. For this reason he can be marked out of the game very easily. Now, you could probably argue that Fabregas possesses the same weaknesses as well, but Fab is tactically more flexible than Mata as he can play in CM, AM and (I sincerely hope this never happens but as a last resort) he can play upfront as well. Mata's best position is the number 10 as that's where his weaknesses are less exposed. If we played Mata as RW with Ivanovic at RB, this will be worse than suicide. Willian already has a hard time trying to cover for Ivanovic and using a player with no pace or stamina would be murder. We need players who can play quick one-touch football, make intelligent passes but above all else, we need players who can keep the ball in tight spaces. The likes of Barca and Bayern all have players who possess these qualities and it's not a coincidence why they are all so dominant in Europe. This is where Mata falls short as he doesn't have the athleticism or physique to protect the ball under pressure and ultimately, you can't hurt the opposition unless you have possession.

Not keen on the team selection. Would have Zouma in for Cahill, Ramires in for Oscar, and maybe try and squeeze Luis in. Remy starting is a welcome change, and too many teams have effectively shackled Costa this season. Costa coming off the bench might work well for a change.

Can't afford to drop points now. Come on the Chels'!

Do you actually watch many games?! Mata was player of the season two seasons in a row for a reason. He was brilliant at holding the ball up, and was never marked out of any game from memory. Where do you get this stuff from?! He was not good at tracking back, and that is the only reason for his departure. Period.

Cantona was terrible for Man utd at tackling and tracking back but sublime going forward, and Man utd recognised the importance of attacking football. Especially at this stage of the season, the team needs to attack. A turn to negative football could be disastrous.

A return to negative football would be disastrous yet going on about a player who played for us during our worst two season for god knows how long (and am counting the seasons before Roman) is a good idea. Shinning in a poor team is easy (as he has proven again during his time at Utd and he not even doing so to a great level). Top class player in a team fighting to get 3rd or 4th but absolutely has no place in a team competing for the title

Our team is lacking pace. The last thing we need is another forward like mata who is painfully slow.

Let's see how remy plays, if it changes our method of attack

Great goal, keeper at fault though.

Stoke are a horrible dirty team, hazard got hacked down just before they scored

I'm not sure why you inferred I don't watch Chelsea just because we have a difference of opinion. Mata was constantly marked out of the game against the likes of Man City - teams who have a very physical and strong midfield. Hazard is someone who is brilliant at holding the ball up. How many times do we see Hazard shielding the ball with his body and dribbling past 2 or 3 players? There's a reason why Hazard is one of the most fouled players in Europe and Mata is not.

Remy must have a ridiculously good minutes to goal ratio.

3 points and that's the main thing.
You wouldn't want to play Stoke every week. Too physical and not punished enough.

A bruseing game but 3 massive points. We are not playing well but at the moment we don't need to.

One more massive step towards winning the title.
