The good thing is it will be decided by the best people possible if he is part of the first team next season or not.

Jose and his team are the best possible people to know what he is and not able to do.

I have no doubts whatsoever that they will make the right decison
True. I don't see Ivanovic as a weakness myself. He has always liked to get foward whenever the opportunity arises and usually reads the game well. I don't see much difference in his game.
As for changing things around, I think Jose needs Azpil at LB to provide cover for JT, which has meant fewer appearances for Luis who doesn't appear so defensively sound.
The real weaknesses are at CB, but I'm sure Jose knows this only too well.

Cahill and terry with zouma as backup would walk Into any pl team.

Its a tough call.

Saying he losing it or a "weak" link is as you say unfair.

At this part of the season we don't know what injuries/knocks he is carrying as well

I remember I think its was our first titling winning season either JT or Lamps was playing with a hole in their foot.

With Jose in charge the work for next season will have already started, Am sure they are already compiling the reports on each player and what part they will play next season and looking for replacements if needed.

As you say Brana is not the biggest concern we have at the moment

Strangely, you're probably right. Our main rivals have also have problems. But Cahill and the current, ageing Terry doesn't compare with our own CB parings of the past 10/15 years.

JT is going to be a hard one.

His performance's last two seasons have been great. Will he just "go"? His intelligence and reading of the game (always his biggest strengths) could mean he could carry on for a while yet.

But have to say I do trust him to say when he thinks its time to take a step back from being a first team regular

Yep, can't argue with that. His reading of the game is second to none. With a "new" version of Ricardo Carvalho alongside him, we could probably coax another season or two out of him. But alongside Cahill (a decent but limited player in my opinion) we have looked suspect at times.
I would hope he stays and gradually makes fewer appearances, the knowledge he could pass on to Zouma and any other young signings wound be invaluable. Even without signings, we have Kalas and Christensen who are very promising young CB's.

I think JT will stay.

Might work along side Jose much like Giggs does at Utd.

He has learned alot from some great managers like Jose,Carlo and The Tinkerman.

Dont believe the media, or fall for their comments.
FTR, I really fu**ing hate getting that response.

I posted it because it was similar to my thoughts on the subject, not because they'd convinced me I felt that way. I'm pretty sure other people in here have said the same things lately.

Bran has been a great attacking threat this season - invaluable when Costa was off-form, but his defending has been poor and Cahill's reckless form a few months back maybe masked how poor he has been this season. Could be poor form, could be decline, either way people are noticing it.....

Our biggest concern is that we are one bad injury away from being a very moderate team.
Next season It's crucial we bring in some new blood to take some of the pressure off Hazard's back.
Today's rumour of Juventus signing Oscar would be a good start!
We could probably get £60-70 million for Oscar, Willian, Ramirez and Mikel. I'd definitely take that kind of money for those four.

I'd hang on to Willian personally. Even though I agree we should look for an upgrade in terms of the 1st XI he's still a useful player to have in the squad and can be brought in for certain matches. I can't see anyone offering close to the £30m we paid for him anyway, so might as well keep him.

I'd look to move on the other 3 though. I could see Oscar still attracting a good fee, and I would take it after two underwhelming seasons in a row. Ramires and Mikel's best days are behind them now.

Who would you get to replace them ? Don't forget, our signings don't always turn out like Hazard, Matic and Costa. Luis, Salah and Caudrado cost us about £55m and haven't exactly set the place on fire.
Be careful what you wish for.

Mind you, if it meant we'd be getting Bale, Pogba and Varane I might be interested.

My predictions:

Main award - Eden Hazard. Not least for his high level of consistency over the whole season

Young player - Raheem Sterling. How about Sterling and Hazard leading the attack for the club?

Barcelona are showing how attacking football beats opponents like PSG. Hazard, Sterling and Costa? We're getting there..

Willian is very good, but doesn't attack enough, he doesn't beat players enough. As for Oscar, thankfully it looks like he's on the way out to a slower, cosier league where in those cold, winter days he can drink a warm cup of cocoa at half time. Get to a boxing gym and toughen up lad!

I don't want sterling at the club, he is going to be trouble off the pitch throughout his career, we don't need those kind of headlines.

I didn't watch the game, but I did smile when I heard about him being nutmegged twice. Serves him right (not for scoring against us, but for trying to get Costa sent off).

I agree. Liverpool would probably want £50m for Sterling and I just don't think he's worth that kind of money. As Gary Neville said, he wouldn't be an automatic "shoe-in" for any of the top clubs around Europe. For that kind of money, there's better options avaiable.

If we are going to sell people we need to buy players who are an improvement. We might get 60-70m for them but would need to spend more to replace them. Its awful business.

We have to stop the buying players and shipping them out circle.

Oscar Willian and Ramirez and very good players they have the right attitude, Have experience and have potential and as a club we should be working to bring that out of them. We have to start to create great players not buy them. People accuse Jose of not creating talent but then we want them to sell players rather then work with them and improve them.

We need to have a core bunch of players who have been at the club for more then 2/3 seasons.

Sterling? Sorry but nope in a million years.

He is overpriced from a transfer fee price and will be way overpriced from a wages price and god knows how much his agent will want, Also from what i have seen lacks the attitude needed.

That's not taking into account he at the moment is not good enough to play for us. He is just currently "our great English hope".

We could go and find a player of similar ability with a better attitude for half the price and wages and would find quite a few to pick from.

Not saying taking Liverpool's new darling and sitting him on our bench to annoy the Liverpool fans is not tempting but that's the only reason i would want him

It has the potential to be £50m down the drain when the kid goes off the rails.

His rap sheet is longer than most now for a 20 yr old, fathering a child at 17, arrested and charged for an assault on a young woman and his latest "legal" drug encounters to say the least.

I was listening to some pundits who were trying to value sterling this week, and £50m is the figure they plucked out of thin air. IF we disregard the bale argument (if bale is worth £85m then x player must be worth £60) then sterling is not worth anywhere near the figure they are quoting.

Sterling has potential (but he cannot finish) to be a great player, i imagine his worth being £25 at best in reality - plus the english tax.

When players like costa and cesc, proven at the highest level go for £30m, i think my value is correct.

Oscar is going to be worth much more in the future that we sell him for now - its very similar to de bruyne.

In his first 18 months he was by far a better player than hazard, and if asked i would have sold hazard in favor of oscar hands down at that point.

He has been constantly played, week in, week out, and dragged brazil through their many tournaments.

Yes has has gone off the boil, but we owe him a summer off and another season.

Ramires is a great player - he is just rusty from not being a permanent member of the first 11 like he once was.

I agree..again. I'd take Oscar every day of the week over Sterling.

Oscar has a great football "brain". When he arrived, I'd never seen a player so young with his ability to read the game. He has gone off the boil, in my opinion that's partly because his role in the team has become rather confusing with the arrival of Willian and then Fabregas. That, along with tiredness..he has to carry a lot of responsibility playing for Brazil, and the manner of their demise in the WC would have shattered any young player.
If Jose decides he's not a good "fit" in the current line-up then we'll have to live with it, but I don't think we'll find a better player of his type around. If we do sell, I think we should go for someone completely different..Pogba maybe ?

There are lots of players around in the same "mould" as Sterling, he just happens to be English and he's been given a chance to shine in the PL by Liverpool. He might become a great player or he might go the same way as dozens of others who once showed potential but then faded. We have a couple ourselves, Boga and Traore have tremendous potential.

Not for me he wasn't. Hazard was the better player out of the two right from the start. That's not to say Oscar didn't impress at all in his first season either but since Mourinho arrived the gulf between the two in terms of performances has only widened further.

CB this must be a first and I totally agree. Oscar? A luxury player in the PL that we just don't need. He plays well for Brazil where the tempo is more like Serie A, but he just can not handle the tempo and physicality of the PL. Hazard has been firing on all 4 cylinders from his first match and has been outstanding. Value? £100 million, minimum. A player to keep at all costs.

A few people have commented on Cuadrado. £26 million?!!! Hazard nailed it from day 1. Cuadrado's You Tube vid's looked good, but that was in Serie A. Schurrle's also looked good before he arrived, and on current form I'd rather have Schurrle than Cuadrado. Let's hope he improves for next season, but at the moment.. shocking.

In a match like this, it's nice to see JM in charge. He will prepare the players just right, and will probably tell them that this is a game we can not lose. We can comfortably afford a draw whereas Man U HAVE to win. Remember the FA cup final where Drogba scored the winner? Perfect tactics, and that was when Man U had Rooney and Ronaldo at their best.

This could be a 1 - 1 draw, but if I was JM I'd definitely ask the team to attack decisively where possible. The team has been very poor at times when just sitting back on a draw or a lead, and that could be dangerous. Where possible, ATTACK and get those goals.

Come on the Chels'!
