True!
But if that's the case then Oscar's value will have plummeted and Hazard showed that he still has a long way to go before he can be called 'world class' nevermind a potential top 3 player. I have a nagging feeling we've already seen the best of Oscar, and that he's one of those players who shone brightly for a while when they were young but then fade away into mediocrity. Schurrle's an interesting player! At times he looks a bit awkward and clumsy and far from top class. However, what's really good about him is that he's confident and has a great temperament!. He's a dangerous, very direct player who gets into good positions and thinks 'goal' or trying to create one as soon as he picks the ball up. I think he needs a rest, and I've never been convinced that he would become a really great number 10 or playmaker. But I still think he can become a vital part of our team. With Hazard, I think he was wasted out on the left for Belgium. At least we gave him more chance to roam and switch positions in our midfield set-up. He has great vision and can spot an opening as quick as any player I've seen playing for Chelsea since Zola. Hopefully he'll be setting them up for Costa and improve his own scoring record as well next season. |

looks like arsenal will get to sami before us.
Thats a shame, as him and matic would be great together. Schurrle has just doubled his value. Amazing player and still so young. Lets hope he is a starter in the first team (after a break) Chelsea have already spoken to Real Madrid and agreed to match the Arsenal bid and his current salary..150k a week. Up to the player now. |

It looks as if talks between Arsenal and Khedira have stalled over his wage demands.

Not sure 20m for a player with only a year left on his contract is the best idea. Not unless he was a must have player and not sure he is. Very good player but I not sure he will be the difference between sucess and failing.
But i do like a team with courtois Ivan cahill terry azpi Matic Khedira schurrle fabregas hazard costa With hopefully a rested oscar on the bench, with willian, lukkaku, torres, cech, ramires, zouma, salah ready to come on |

If he's fully fit, I think he would be a good buy. As codeblue says, he's just the player we need to play alongside Matic. The signing of Filipe Luis is also looking closer, that will enable us to shuffle things around at the back when needed. All coming together nicely if the deals go through.

I read the other day that he "doesn't want to leave", No mention of teams actually being interested in him

I guess that £175,000 a week is difficult to leave.
There is no way I would leave a job and not either stay on the same money or get more. I have never left a job for one with less money. |

And who can blame him?
There is no way I would leave a job and not either stay on the same money or get more. I have never left a job for one with less money. He could cut his losses whilst he's still got a few years of his career left and look to get back on track as a change of club or league may do him a lot of good. He might also still be able to negotiate a decent length deal on decent wages with someone, even if it's not as much as he's on now. Or he can continue being derided as a flop at Chelsea for the next 2 years, and fall even further out of favour, by which time he may struggle to get anything approaching a decent contract offer from elsewhere at the end of it. At this rate it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being frozen out completely like Malouda for the final year of his contract. I can understand his decision in not wanting to take a salary drop, but I'm not sure it's necessarily the right thing for him to do. Only he knows exactly how much money he needs in his life though, although as I say it's all swings and roundabouts as he'll end up having to take an even bigger drop in wages in another 2 years' time, and options will be even more limited. |

If I was offered a job that made me a lot happier and still provided enough money to comfortably live off then I'd have no issue taking it. Sometimes you're better off going with your heart than your head. Torres can't be enjoying his football much thesedays. Does he want to attempt to restore (or at least partially restore) his ailing reputation?

I would not be worried being called "a flop" as thats utter nonsesnse anyway. A player has to have the upmost confidance at all times (more so a striker) and I think he has got that and belives he can have a very good season at Chelsea. With the number of games we play (or should play) he will still get a fair few games under his belt and IMO a league title to boot. He has had chances to leave and has chosen not to. Having a player who wants to stay is always a posative thing to have around. If he finds a club that gives him everything he wants/needs then good for him but at the moment he seems to have that at Chelsea. I dont see Lakaku being around this season (another loan or sold) so there will be a spot for him. If he happy to stay then good for him |

Luis in/Ba out. (confirmed)
Just Khedira/Pogba to wait for now. Plus sorting the loan deals out. |

Have done our best in correcting our shortfalls from last season. We are much better suited to a proper decent title challenge then we was last Fully expect us to be the title chase until the last weekend. Of course we will have Utd and City to deal with but have confidence in the manager and the team to be able to cope |

The signing of Luis made sense with Ashley leaving, but I'm not sure it will make us significantly stronger. Fabregas should make a difference, I'm not quite sure where Jose intends to play him. I don't think he will fit playing alongside Matic in a 4-2-3-1, presumably he will play further foward in Oscar's role ? That's why I'm still hoping we get Khedira (or someone similar) to play in the other defensive midfield position. So, with no more deals I would still be worried about our lack of firepower. My ideal situation would have been to do some kind of deal involving Torres, and then bring in another proven striker. Also talk some sense into Lukaku and get him to commit to a season taking his chances when he can with us..otherwise sell him. But I don't think we're done yet.

Our first game of the 2014-15 season against Wycombe.. even though it is a friendly! 1-0 at the moment, Bamford scored.

Ake has played really well at LB and provided the assist. Not sure we needed Felipe Luis with all the young defenders we have who could play that position and get some experience. We have a lot of players. I had completely forgotten about Romeu until I saw him tonight.

Bamford, Da Silva, Boga and Izzy Brown all looked very good. Would be made up if any of them broke into the first team.

If it stays as it is now, an awful lot will depend on Diego Costa. Eto'o and Ba gone,Torres is unlikely to suddenly recapture his old form, and we're not sure about Lukaku.

Also need Schurrle, Oscar, and Willian to step it up. If they do, and if we get Costa firing, I'd make us favourites regardless of who City sign.
I'd really like Pogba and a switch to 4-3-3. Not keen on Khedira. Aside from that I'm happy with the squad now. Just need to decide on Lukaku and try to boot Torres out. |

It looks like Obi Mikel and Patrick Van Aanholt may be on their way out. Seems we are prepared to consider offers in the region of £5m for Mikel. I thought he would be worth at least double that, unless his current wages are a problem ?
Van Aanholt was quite scathing about Chelsea in a recent interview and wants out ASAP. At 23 ( 24 by the start of next season) he's not going to improve a lot, makes sense to move him on. In fact, I don't know why he wasn't shipped out before now. |

Mourinho's looking to loan Bamford to a Prem team. I could see him doing a decent job at a bottom-half club, providing one of them actually comes in for him. This time last year I was sure a promoted club would come sniffing around Chalobah, but that didn't happen......
