That was a bit of a shocker. Think Sunderland now have a much harder game on Sunday.

With the story doing the rounds that Sterling wants to leave Liverpool I hope we don't make the massive mistake of going for him. Not only is he not good enough his attitude is all wrong to be playing for a top team.

I don't know why every goes nuts over the things players do in this sport. It's become a sport for babies.

Fabregas kicks a ball at a players head, brilliant, one of the funniest moments of the season. Yellow card, get on with the game.

But no, everyone goes crazy and says Fabregas is stupid and the ref had no choice but to send him off..................IT'S A FOOTBALL, it ain't going to kill the guy, he probably barely felt it. It's not like Fabregas smashed it at his head.

The sport is full of babies. When was the last time you seen a player get sent off for kicking a ball at a player ? The only one i can remember is Rivaldo's overreaction for Brazil.

Agreed. We've wasted enough money on Cuadrado as it is. I'd sooner have Moses or Salah than Cuadrado, that's how little an impression he's made.

I don't think we can have any complaints about the red card, it was a stupid thing for Cesc to do. I don't think it would have happened though if the ref hadn't made a pig's ear of dealing with the incident before it. Why was only Costa booked and not the WBA defender? That just summed up the lack of consistency shown by refs all season….

You are right it is "full of babies" as a mature professional adult would not have done it.

It's totally irrelevant if it was a football or a cannon ball, it's totally irrelevant if it hurt him or not

He was a idiot and as such got punished.

Funny? Mmmmm maybe if you are one of the babies you accuse football being full off.

People kick footballs at each other all of the time. Football is petty, really petty. The way the West Brom players turned to the ref as soon as their player was hit with the football was pathetic. "Oh ref, look, Fabregas kicked a ball at him". Babies.

When was the last time you seen a player sent off for kicking a ball at a player ? It happens quite often you know and nobody get's sent off for it.

Sent off for a kicking a football at someone..........wow.

Fletcher running up to Fabregas and shoving him was worse than Fabregas kicking a ball at a player.

Just because Ref's don't always enforce the rules regarding it doesn't mean that's acceptable.

He broke the rules he gets punished and that's how it should be.

He knew what he was doing and could have avoided it quite easily.

If the rules was enforced more maybe football would not be so petty?

Now we getting the old "what player a did was worse then what player b did" nonsense. Mmmmm it seems what goes on the pitch is not just petty seems it extends off the pitch as well

Imho, this has been a rather strange season. Something has been missing for many months now!

For the first half of the season we played great football that was well worthy of being champs! The second half has been nothing a relentless grind scratching out results, even against the poorest teams and without Hazard on top form we really are not up to much.

What's worrying me for next season is just how long we have been struggling to play well and that we are getting worse and worse. Due to the lack of quality from the other teams we have got away with this season, but eventually sub standard performances will start to catch up with us and those scrappy wins will start turning into draws and draws into defeats.
Next season, if we continue with the form we've had for the last 5 months we could easily struggle to finish top four.

Don't ALWAYS inforce the rules ? If this is a red card offense then they must NEVER inforce the rules because tonight is the first time i have seen a player sent off for it since the Rivaldo moment.

Nowhere in the rules does it say that kicking a ball at someone is a red card offense.

What would this even be classed as anyway ? Violent conduct ? Serious foul play ? It's ridiculous.

Even Mourinho thinks it's ridiculous.

I watched it in the pub. I thought the biggest laugh was Sky trying to stir up some interest in the game, I was about the only one taking any interest. Surprisingly, nobody could even be bothered taking the piss out of us for losing so badly.

The usual crap refereeing, it's become so commonplace now that I can't even be bothered getting angry anymore. A bit of pushing and shoving and Costa gets a yellow card. Fabregas harmlessly kicks a ball at a group of players from about 30 yards and gets a red. Yes, it was a stupid thing to do, but did it really warrant a sending off ?

As Mourinho said afterwards, we just weren't up for this game. Neither the manager or players were motivated, and even the fans who had made the journey didn't care that much. Fair play to West Brom though, they looked a decent side and have a real gem in Berahino.

What can we take from it ? Hazard looked as sharp as ever, Loftus-Cheek gave another assured performance. Costa is still up for a scrap, but he'd probably start a fight with himself playing patience.
The downside, apart from the score...I think £ for £, Cuadrado could turn out to be our worst signing ever. I hope I'm wrong but the way he's playing now some of our young acadamy players must be better. A strong breeze knocks him over !

One game to go, let's celebrate by ending the season in style. I'm sticking my neck out and forcasting a big win, 5-0.

CM desperately needs strengthening this summer - if either Mikel or Ramires replace Fabregas for our first 2 matches next season I will quite literally cry.

If you can lose your best players for the start of next season, why play them?

Jose should out the entire b team out last game

Because you need to respect the league and competition. Our last game still has a part to play with regards to other teams in the league. As champions we have to show respect to the other teams that our result effects.

You earn the right to do this over the season. The game last night had nothing on it whatsoever, nothing at all. It was a dead rubber.

In actual fact with Cesc not playing, it has hurt the teams like newcastle and hull as we will not be able to play our best side.

The ref should have applied some common sense, but he wanted to make a name for himself. I guess the FA are going to make it even harder for us to win next season. Expect terry and costa to be sent of next weekend.
