I see Romeu's signed a new 3 year deal. Bit surprising as I thought he'd be among those we'd be looking to offload, unless it's simply to keep his value up?

Hmmmm........

"I have to say my club did a fantastic job, and not just becaue of what we bought, but because we did it in almost record time. The transfer market closes 31 August and we close our market on July 19. We finished the market today."

"The club did fantastic, we knew the targets, we knew the players and the club attacked them and their clubs at a very early stage. We got exactly what we need and what we want. The squad is one which I like very much and I look forward to starting the season."

"I dont think so (sign any more players). The market is open, but we are so happy with what we have. We feel that our squad is what we want. We don't want a squad of only end products. We also want to bring to the first team, three or four under-21s, we are going to develop players and are happy with this balance we have."

Could explain the Romeu deal.

The bookies seem to think we've bought wisely, were now favourites for the PL.

Jose likes to tease the media. Hearing that makes it almost certain that we will make at least one more big signing before the window closes.

With no strings attached ?...I say take it. We would save approaching £20m in wages.
Our asking price is apparently only £13m anyway, but why didn't Atletico go for this kind of deal when we were signing Costa or Luis ?
Don't believe it myself.

^ I don't believe it either, as much as I'd like it to be true. I don't think Atletico could afford his wages so unless he's prepared to take a significant salary drop or we're prepared to subsidise them then it's not likely to happen.

New boy Mario Pasalic has been loaned to Primera Liga club Elche, hopefully he'll get regular games there. He joins T. Hazard, Kalas, Wallace and Traore out on loan. It'll be interesting to see what we do with some of the numerous other young players we have on our books. Surely we've got to start offloading some?

I don't mind loaning out players, that seems sensible and perhaps good business.

What I do mind are the dozen who will never get a game for us, like romeu and Moses. Just seems to be money down the drain

It appears Jose is quite impressed with what he's seen in Romeu. Don't know why, he didn't show much at Valencia on loan.

he may like him, but who realistically is he going to compete with for a first team place - matic?

He was just coming off a knee injury.

We only get to see the players on the pitch, The managers get to see them day in day out. Jose knows how we will be playing next season and if he is to be believed what players he has in order to play that way maybe he has shown something in training that separates him from the other players?

From the small bits we have seen he is a pretty decent player and during the season we are going to need a couple of them to come on during injuries, suspensions and when the games are coming thick and fast

It's not the strength of your first team that wins you titles it's the strength of your bench.

Every time Jose has won a title a major part of it has been those little chances he makes. That's always been on of his strengths

It's something we have been lacking since he has left.

I've read they've offered £14mill but we're holding out for £20mill. It's very unlikely whatever the figures are. We've done business with them on Costa and Luis without any major trauma. If they'd wanted Torres I'm sure he would have gone already.

Drogba back as player/coach is being reported in lots of places. I'd love him to mentor Bamford and Lukaku.

i hope lampard comes back as a coach too.

Terry, Lamps and drogba will hopefully be the future management of the club.

The figures for Torres are different to those I read this morning, but who knows ?

I would love to see Drogba back, but only only as a coach/ambassador for the club. I don't want to see him struggling to get on the end of crosses, or blasting the ball wide from ten yards. My lasting memory of Didier as a player will always be of him scoring that match winning penalty in the CL final.

And that's what I want my last memory of him to be.

Not getting a red card in the early round of a cup game against some 3rd division team.

It ended perfectly as a player and it should stay that way.

Indeed that's how legends should bow out.

I just don't see a upside for bringing The Drog back as a player.

If Costa doesn't score in his first two games even if we win both 3-0 there will be calls to put him back in the team (because according to some we get extra points).

The time of the Drog has gone while I know Jose likes big personalities in the dressing room (and with Ash and Lamps gone we are missing some) but it's time for new players to take up the mantle and become the next successful Chelsea team

Drog back as a coach would be fine.

Not as part of the first team coaching staff.

He needs to learn his craft. He needs to complete his coaching badges.

If we had a new manager who did not know the english league or had no connection to the club then ok I can see the point but this is not the case.

We have gone past the point of giving jobs for the boys.

Let him do what he did to get to Chelsea team in the first place and earn his place on Chelsea's mangement team

I think you could make an exception for someone who would be a great motivator and ambassador for the club. I'm not generally one to support "jobs for the boys" either, but in Drog's case just his presence might be lift for players and supporters alike.
I guess the argument against that is how many more ex-greats would we want to employ..so perhaps you're right.

perhaps its time for JT to start his coaching badges right now?
