Fingers crossed our LB puts in a MotM performance and ensures we don't see Ivanovic for quite a while.

Was not sure if I want Oscar to start or not since Saturday is the more important game but can see it makes sense to play him tonight

Some absolutely massive changes here to the first team!

Is that the defence of the next 5 years we are seeing?

RLC and fabregas in the middle? thats where the game will be won or lost.

what a soft yellow for RLC after 40 seconds!

why not a red for the keeper there?

awful penalty miss by hazard

Soft yellow yes but the second you make a tackle like that you force the ref to make a decision.

a lucky goal, but the team looks better, even if the players confidence is shot to bits

aww darn it, our best player off with a hamstring!

we are having terrible luck this season

Robbie Savage a first division player who got lucky and would fight in a empty room having a go at Costa for how he deals with opponents, heard it all now.

team has a higher work rate this evening, remy leading from the front

a good 77 minutes by RLC, especially in the circumstances and getting a yellow after 40 seconds

Its now 4, lets get another!

Not a fantastic performance, With the level of the opponent that was always going to be a tough ask. But we got the job done, The issues so far this season are still there. Saturday will be a utterly different type of game.

The pressure is far from being off us. This result should never have been in question, even in our current form. It was a game the team could play with a less pressure which is something we might have needed but the pressure is back on us again

First time they've been worth watching this year. Good performance, should give them confidence.
You just can't get away from Robbie Savage, can you?

That just about sums it up for me. Difficult to assess the performance really, Maccabi appeared to be a very weak side. A bizarre free kick that somehow beat the keeper, and a rather lucky penalty decision. That's all we had to show for all our possession for a long time. We again seemed to be trying to pass the ball into the net most of the time, for heaven's sake, somebody take on a shot occasionally !
But there were some decent individual performances. I thought Hazard did look a lot sharper. Remy never stopped working, I would have loved to see him get a goal. Oscar does make a difference and gives us a better balance. RLC was ok, though both he and Fabregas had a fairly easy time. Same with the back four, they looked solid enough but let's be honest, it wasn't much of a challenge tonight.
Still, it was a good result. If it raises spirits and gives a few players a bit more confidence, that will be a bonus. Onwards and upwards..hopefully.

Tonight for me no matter if we was top of the league or bottom of the league was about getting the job done (and avoiding doing a Arsenal).

There is no point in judging anyone's performance. All we can judge (and again it be the same no matter how the league was going) is how professional we are.

We came out of it just as that.

Some good to decent performances but at the level we was playing at that would be the very minimal we should expect from any team we put out.

Pedro and Willian missing for the Arsenal match.

Please no Ramires on the right

I notice in this distinguished football forum that there is a sever lack of posting this morning.

I can only conclude that its either due to random chance, or because United, Arsenal and City all lost and Chelsea had a good win.

In the cold light of dawn, we did not look great last night either, but there were some positives.

RLC looks ok and could play alongside Matic
The new left back Rahman did ok
Traore looked full of energy in midfield
Willian was the best player until he went off injured
Costa scored a good goal, from a cesc pass

Things that i noted

Hazard looked absolutely terrified before his penalty miss - he is feeling the pressure of being one of the worlds best at the moment. He did however start making some fantastic runs, dribbling past 5 players. His final ball/ shot was bottled though.

Cesc, when calmly slotting home, bust a gut to get in there even when he thought another chelsea player was going to score. He looked so relieved to score, he mopped his brow!

Probably because were not gloating at having the easiest team in the CL at home. & AW didnt lets us down in playing a weakened team & coming a cropper (part 99)

Do you think it's similar to how you disappear when Chelsea lose? Like this past weekend? You're such a silly child.

But,but it's only a matter of time before everyone else turns to crap again and Chelsea rise like a Phoenix from the ashes and resume their rightful place at the top of everything.

We'll probably according to Codeblue anyway.
