Still don't see what the fuss was about. Both players were being tits but neither of them deserved a ban for it.

It what a couple of people have said here, Its the way today's game as gone and is still going. The ban's (or ban or even if there was no bans) I am not really that bothered about, Ban's are part of football, Its the language,Tone and am using the words very loosely here the thought processes behind the stuff coming out from "football fans" that is more worrying IMO |

But is that not the same for many many many things in the game today?

Out of interest, who are the successful club teams that you think are almost universally liked? I can't think of any around at the moment.
I'm "tiresome" so i wont bore you with a list. |

No where near the amount we should have.
The level where we need to worry about the views of random's (and I finding myself wondering if some are intelligent enough to worry about if you look at the Costa thread) we are not anywhere near yet. There have been to many stop and starts at the club over the last 10 years for us to get to that level. We need at least 3 more titles and a title defence first Why should we have won a lot more trophies than we have? Have you forgotten that we were up against one of the mega clubs of Europe with probably the greatest British manager there's ever been. It was not a failure to sometimes finish second to them! We probably deserved another CL trophy, but that's about it. |

Maybe its just me but I think today people take it way to seriously , You see it as a business, rather than a sport. ![]() You see young players as nothing more than products. ![]() You are all for winning at all costs and don't care about what you're even watching so long as your team wins.

Have you forgotten that we were up against one of the mega clubs of Europe with probably the greatest British manager there's ever been. It was not a failure to sometimes finish second to them! We probably deserved another CL trophy, but that's about it. We was up against SAF and Utd but was also at a time when at times there was not as good as they had been in the past and towards the end of his time when the team was in need of rebuilding. With our resources and of the teams around us if we are not winning the league we should be finishing 2 or 3 points behind the team that do win it. 12 years of massive investment access to the top class players and top class managers (again we have made to many mistakes in that area) and only one title defence and no title and really no chance of winning the title after 09/10 until last season for me is not good enough to be worrying about what people think of us. Its not just about finishing 2nd. Finishing second is ok if you are 1,2 or 3 points (even then you need to look at who finished 1st and how they finished 1st but if you are finishing more then that I don't count that as a success with our resources. If you looked at the premiership as a film the top billing would still be Man Utd, We I think would be the top co-star yes but we should be with Utd. Once we get to top billing then we can worry about what our image is. The only way to get the top spot is by winning titles. If City win their 3rd title this season they are one behind us and was not bought until 2008, Yes they have invested so much money but we had such a massive head start we should be further ahead then them. We have more important things to worry about then our image (more so when its the intelligence of the media and the people we trying to get on side is at the current level). We have to create a team that can defend its title or one that loses it on the last game of the season, We have to create the winning mentality that the current team is lacking (and I think the lack of experience is the main issue behind that). We just have too many balls in the air at the moment to worry about such things |

It is a business. That's a fact. I see all players as products as that what they are. They are assets, They are something you buy and sell. They are not Chelsea FC, They are people who work for the club. The club is the ground,Its fans etc Since the game is a sport the point of taking part is to win surely? |

The fact is no one likes winners and why would those clubs fans care anyway. Apparently everyone loved Keegan's Newcastle. Great winners they were...... |

Well, Ramires actually managed a few successful passes, so that's a step-up from last season. Mikel was solid, but neither were worth getting worked up over.
Falcao was basically Torres, but I expect he'll start ahead of Remy while Costa is out. |

After such a bad performance last night I have this feeling Newcastle will come out and play like every single World Cup winning team rolled into one. Either that or they will do a Munich on us and win 1-0

Looked good, but not as good as last week.
Less time on the ball, more robust challenges etc, Very different type of opponents. His mentality would have had to have been very different which would have been a important lesson for him But another step forward in his education. Stoke away will be another step in the right direction. |

Nice work at taking offence to a post that wasn't actually about you. Conveniently gets you out of answering the question though, I suppose.
The great Real Madrid team of Puskas and co. The UTD team of Best, Law and Charlton. The Ajax team of Cruyff and co. The great Dutch national teams. The great Brazilian teams, including the 82 team that didn't even reach the WC semi final The Liverpool team of Barnes and Beardsley. The Arsenal team of Henry and co. Keegan's Newcastle. Those are teams that make kids fall in love with football. Parking the bus and cynical gamesmanship might get you a result on the day but that's all it will do. I want to see our club try to become one of those I listed, apart from Newcastle, who never win F all

The arsenal invincible team were awful to watch!
They stifled, dived and cheated, spoiled and conned the tef just to get through it. Aside from that, all those teams are ancient history |
