I dare say he will disappear for a while!

Another goal conceded from Ivanovic being inept. Far from the only one making mistakes, but he should have had this one sorted before the ball reached the area......

Tried calling them but sadly they would not connect me as I used a word with more then two syllables and was able to spell my own name

Willian played well.

That's it.

Every so slight improvement in places but the issues are still there which is not really a surprise as there is no quick fix to them. Southampton at the weekend a far bigger and more important game

I thought it was quite a good game..if you were a neutral. A lot of end-to-end stuff which people enjoy. But from a Chelsea fan's point of view, it wasn't a "Mourinho team" out there tonight.
Jose always built from a strong defensive unit at the back and a midfield which usually controlled the game. We've now conceded 2 goals or more in seven of our last twelve games. We played some good stuff at times, but I never once thought we had control of the game.

Basic errors in defending are costing us. Begovic must of wondered what he has joined.
Ivanovic desperately needs a rest, I just don't think Jose trusts the new left back enough so there is no other option.

With Willian actually playing well on the left, I'd like to see him stay there with Hazard playing through the middle. Always baffled me that Hazard is stuck playing down 1 side when he's our most (only) creative player.......

He needs to sign a new keeper, one with experience and has preferably won the CL before.

Am not sure switching Eden to another position will help him at the moment. He needs to get his form back before we start moving him around, He really looking like he has a lack of confidence and the hype surrounding him might have got to him. Once he gets back to anywhere near the levels of last season then we can look at getting him to perform a different role

The moment I see ivanovic in the starting lineup, I honestly think that Mourhino has totally lost it as a manager. Maybe some players are thinking the same. Are they distant cousins or something?! How Ivanovic can justify any part in games other than coming on late, I have no idea.

He scored again. Great, he needs to keep on doing that, along with shooting on target more, being prepared to take players on in the box, and getting accurate crosses in. If he can turn his form around, I'll be happy.

As for the poor form of the team in general, I'm sticking with my earlier criticism of Jose, that he has never proved himself at a club for more than two seasons, and he struggles imo to change a team that has been successful in the past season or two. If he can build at least two successful teams in one term as a manger, great. As said many times though, I have my doubts.

He's very conservative by nature, and likes to play the same system, the same players in the same way game after game. Sadly that becomes far too predictable for the opposition, and the opposition start to work out exactly how to stop us from playing.

As I said at the end of last season, the first thing Jose should have done was to ask for some new fast, creative players to tweak the team, and make us more flexible. Instead, he said he was perfectly happy with the squad and didn't want to buy or sell anyone. What worked last season won't work for the next season. Far too conservative.

On the subject of his bizarre inclusion at rb, I'm wondering whether Jose is too proud to play him at cb simply because it's what his predecessor Rafa did very successfully. As Rafa said, the cb position requires a lot less running, and for an ageing player that is key. Mourhino said when he arrived back that the Europa league did not belong to the club, and that Ivanovic was a rb not a cb. That to me is just extreme arrogance on both counts.

Ok, he doesn't like Rafa, but saying that about a manager who inherited a dire situation and managed to win a major trophy, finish 3rd and get to two other cup semis is crazy.

Imo, some key players sense that Jose is suffering from blinkered thinking and do not have confidence in him any more as a manager. No matter what he does, there are some fans who will always back him no matter what, but for me the club comes first not the manager.

Only watched the 2nd half last night, although i did see the goals from the first half. Seems it was more of the usual poor defending that we've now become accustomed to.

Away to Porto has always been one of those potential banana skin fixtures anyway, even when we have been in good form. We were unfortunate not be awarded a penalty for that handball near the end too.

Looks that way. Does seem a bit crazy paying £20m for a left-back that doesn't appear to be trusted to play against meaningful opposition yet.

Does Mourinho even like Rahman? No matter how you look at it, there's no logical reason for him to not be in the team right now, and it wouldn't be the first time we've signed a player he has no interest in.

I'm not sure that dropping Ivanovic will solve the problem though. We look lightweight in midfield without Matic at his very best. Matic did an incredible job for us from the moment he arrived half way through the 2013-14 season until earlier this year. Now he's performing sub-par our deficiencies are exposed.
I have to say, I think Fabregas is a large part of the problem. I've never liked the idea of him playing in the pivot, and could never understand people who said Matic/Fabregas was the perfect partnership. Unless we're totally dominating games against weak opposition, we need another midfield ball-winner, someone more dynamic and physical.
If we believe Fabregas is worth playing for his occasional exquisite passing, I think you have to let him have a role free from defensive duties..something totally alien to Jose's philosophy Otherwise the balance of the team is all wrong. Too many opposition teams are running all over us in midfield, we've become a soft touch.

Dropping Ivanovic would solve the problem of Ivanovic playing. That's a step in the right direction.

I get that our CM aren't doing enough to protect the defence (last night they were bossed by an 18yo), but there's no denying he has been a complete disaster this season. He causes the other deenders to panic every time the ball is near him. We have a RB at LB, and a LB on the bench. Make the change, see what happens. At the very least we can't be any worse than we've been so far.

I don't get what has happened with Terry so far. Has he really regressed so much over the summer that he now can't be in the team? He was fantastic last year, whereas Bran has been declining for a while.

Yes, it's difficult to see that Baba Rahman would be much of a risk the way Ivanovic has been playing recently. Besides, Jose was prepared to play Zouma in midfield last season, and that looked a risk at the time.
I also agree with you about John Terry. Was he really that bad earlier this season ? We have been short of leadership and organisation without JT, just his presence gives some assurance. He was playing really well right up to the end of last season, less than six months ago !
But I guess if he was playing, a lot of fans would probably be calling out for him to be dropped. Sometimes a manager just can't win.

i honestly think we need to have two holding players at the moment. The defence needs helping out. Matic and one other and stick with it for a while. Got to stop conceding goals. Move Cesc further forward.

It's not just me who has serious concerns about the manager and his out of touch attitude.

It would be great if he turned things around, but I can't see it, and that's reality. His ego is far too big for the club. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to say so.

Do you think the poor form from Matic is contributing to Terry's poor form? Last year he had a better shield in front of him, with that gone he's more exposed?

An article in a newspaper mate. You know, something written by someone who spends 6 days a week being paid to know what's going on in football.
