Bertrand loaned to Southampton.
Don't see the point in another loan, should have just sold him. It's not as if he's going to come back and play for us now. It's an area we're well covered in with Luis, Azpi & Ake.

Can only assume Southampton couldn't afford to buy him.

Surely they can afford his transfer fee with all that money they've made this summer. Is he on ridiculous wages like McEachran?

We do seem to have a problem with our wage structure. I'm guessing this is why we ended up selling Ba so cheaply too (you'd think we at least would have got our money back on him otherwise).

Don't blame any club really for wanting to look at him for a entire season before investing money by buying him plus I think he will wanna play premiership football and with Southampton it makes sense to go there for a season to see if they can stay up

I cannot believe we're going to start the season with just Costa, Torres and Drogba.
Going with those 3 means we are praying that Costa hits the ground running and stays injury free all season. If not, we are buggered!
Having said that. it's good to see that we are now running the club like a proper football club again and no longer throwing money around like it was going out of fashion.

We got good money for a player that is nowhere near the finished article - and not at Chelsea standard.

I am pretty sure Costa is going to be fantastic for us.

The problem is backups.

Torres, well, flashes of the old player but once in 10 sitters.

Drogba - fantastic, but has had poor seasons in the last 3 - will be great to come on with 20 minutes to go and monster the opposition.

Ok, so what then, do we have players to cover?

Well yes, Fabregas has done it for spain and ive a feeling that Schurrle could play up top too - and we certainly have cover for those if we push them forward.

I would like another top class striker, who wouldnt, but we will be ok this season or until Torres leaves.

I see Kakuta's out on loan again, this time to Rayo Vallecano. Another player we just can't seem to sell.

im just fed up of sky showing games they think i want to watch, not the actual ones i want to watch.

Its madness that in this country, unlike others around the world, we cannot watch which PL game we want to on national tv.

Its backward thinking.

I want a chelsea TV channel that broadcasts every chelsea game, live, for the season.

The only way that this could happen would involve shafting 50-75% of Premier League clubs.

Still, you seem to view all clubs (apart from your own) with massive disdain, so let them go to the wall, eh?

I dont understand you repeatedly goading and posting negative things about chelsea and their fans, in the chelsea supporters thread.

Is it that shocking to find a chelsea fan wanting to watch all their games live on tv in the UK, when you can do exactly that in Europe and America?

Even so I do think sooner or later this will happen.

People choosing their "entertainment" is becoming more and more important and more popular.

I can see a time when Sky (or BT) will offer a "live" match day choice.

It's neither 'goading' or 'negative'. It's factual.

If each club could negotiate their own TV deal (the only way that this could realistically happen), then most clubs would end up dramatically worse off. This is what happens in Spain, and it's hugely unfair.

I'd love to be able to watch every United game on TV, but I'm aware of the negative impact that it would have on the league.

Don't be so sensitive.

I hope that it doesn't happen. The only real winners would be United, Liverpool and possibly Arsenal.

Chelsea and Spurs wouldn't do too badly, but most of the rest would be buggered, in my opinion.

Can foreign supporters watch any live game they want from their own country's top league ? I was under the impression that they just showed selective games from the host country and a wide range of overseas games, not much different to us ?

I'd love to be able to watch every United game on TV, but I'm aware of the negative impact that it would have on the league.
But a lot of things are unfair.

How come United negotiated a huge sponsorship deal with Adidas for £750 million?

It's because United are a global commodity, and lots of people want to watch them worldwide.

It is a little unfair on Burnley isnt it, what a negative impact its had on them, how can they possibly catch up?

Sponsorship, stadium sponsorship, player endorsements, image rights, they all contribute to a bias in the league and, according to you, have a negative impact.

And yet it is the Uk fans that suffer. If i were in europe, or the americas, or the middle east, I could watch any PL game i wanted to - live.

As a UK based fan, because of this perceived negativity, i have to suffer.

As a thought experiment, assume that everyone who has a sky sports 1/ BT subscription is a fan of a PL club.

What would happen if they said, ok, this year you can either choose to watch the range of games that sky choose, or you can watch your own team in all of their live games.

How many subscribers would:

A) Cancel their subscription
B) Keep their subscription

And how many fans, who are annoyed that only 10% of live games feature their team, would sign up as a new subscriber?

I put it to you that there would be MORE money coming from TV revenue.

They can watch live Premier League games.

When people "stream", they are basically watching the feed from a non-uk based tv channel.

Oh i agree it could very well be a bad thing but I can only see "on demand" tv getting bigger and bigger.

But i think its just the natural progession when football started giving Sky and BT all the power.

I sure I saw somewhere that already due to the changes in the games there are 11 games where away fans will not be able to get to and back from the games on the same day (due to K/O time, transport etc) and from a Chelsea POV it was only yesterday we would know it was worth booking transport for the first game of the season (and closer you get it gets more expensive).

Its not the best road to go down but I do think its one we are more then likely on

They do have alot more choice then us.

I often get messages from a Chelsea fan in Canada telling me about the choice of games they have (and when its Chelsea game and I am not there or not on TV telling me whats happening), When he lived over here he was surprised at the "lack" of choice we had

Yes, but I thought you were suggesting Germans can watch every Bundesliga game live, Italians can watch every Serie A game live, etc. Unless they want to watch the EPL, they're no better off than us.

But its madness.

All the fans that cannot get to games, especially away games, would jump at the chance to buy into this facility.

I'd sign up day 1.

Sky have got:

Arsenal v Palace
Liverpool v southampton
Newcastle v city
Burnley v chelsea

Bt have united v swansea

So Everton fans cannot see their new £28m striker play on the opening game!

In week 2, chelsea are not live on any UK channel - ridiculous

I agree, it would be great. I'd pay a hefty premium to watch any game live. I'm not sure how it could be arranged though.
