Loan deal wages would be a issue
Loan then buy next season then I think the transfer amount would be a issue. more so for what could be a second choice striker |

if we cannot match the wages, how can a club like liverpool?
They have different agendas then we do. They need to replace a massive name, We do not They are facing massive pressures to ensure that they finish top 3 next season and will find it IMO very difficult. I dont see us having the same issues. We have no more places available in a very balanced squad. They have places available. We will more then likely play with one stiker they normally play with two. If we had not bought Costa then yes it would have been worth looking at. To now go and spend a load of money again for is a hark back to the old ways of just chucking money at the problem |

Fair enough
Id rather liverpool have sturridge and lambert as their star strikers though. I think that the supporters in kop row z should watch out this season. |

You just don't rate Willian, I thought he he had a decent season. I'd be happy with Ramires if he gets back the form of 2011/2012, poor last season as you say.
You're right, i don't rate Willian, or Ramires for that matter. A top team with aspirations of winning the league and CL, cannot afford to have two players in a team who's main attributes are running around a lot. Willian is supposed to be an attacking, creative midfielder. He should be there to score and create goals but the stats prove he doesn't do anywhere near enough of either! He's like one of those cricketers who's decent in the field, scores you 25 runs and gets 1 wicket for 50 runs off 15 overs. That's OK at county level or one day knockabout rubbish, but it's not good enough for test cricket. To pay 30 million for him was an obscene waste of money! He really is nothing more than a mediocre squad player worth about 8 million, or a first team player for a team chasing Europa league football. |

you need attacking players who will run back and attempt to defend. Ramires (at his best) and willian will do that for you all game, for 90 minutes.

That will win you far more than a player who does little but run around a lot. I expect all players to work hard, but working hard alone is simply not good enough at the top level. |

I can't remember any performances prior to him joining us that justified that kind of money ? But he's actually surprised me, I had him down as a bit of a lightweight with a few tricks. I was wrong, he puts in a decent shift in every game, I just wish there was more end product sometimes. I would have been happy at £18/20m, but that's the way it goes. Don't forget, we paid £11m for Salah..I'm less confident about his future. |

That's true, and it could have been part of some kind of "parcel" deal with Eto'o ?
Deals like this are more likely to be done on some super yacht then in a meeting room |

I wouldn't argue with that on current known form and a bit of guesswork. It's tough on Ivanovic though, he didn't do a lot wrong last season ? I'm still not convinced about Fabregas playing alongside Matic either, but if you're picking for our first game against Burnley it shouldn't be too much of a risk.
for my money, i'd have kept the back four the same as last year - but spending 20m on luis we have to play him. If we keep ivan on the right, it would be tough on Azpi who had an outstanding season. For tougher games, perhaps put ivan back in and change fabregas for another stronger player. Who that player is, ive no idea? Ramires? Van Ginkel? Mikkel? |

I think Cesc will play in a number of roles next season all across the midfield depending on the game and what our next game is |

With the number of games we will (hopefully) play I can see Brana coming in for JT for a good many games this season.

Only way Luis will start is if Mourinho drops Terry for Ivanovic at CB IMO.
Matic - Fabreags should be fine against most teams. I expect we'll switch to 3 for the tougher games, with Ramires slotting in next to them. |

I've always looked on him as a natural no 10, which made him rather surplus to requirements at Barcelona with their abundance of talents. |

Yes, that's why I think Pogba would have been such a fantastic signing. Failing that, his team mate Vidal (which would have messed up United's plans as well) or Khedira.

I'd go with something like this against Burnley: Cech Ivan - Cahill - Terry - Azpi Matic - van Ginkel Schurrle - Fabregas - Hazard Costa I don't really see why Luis should walk straight into the team when Bran and Dave have done nothing wrong. Same with the goalkeepers. We can afford to ease them in, rather than having 4 new players all starting in the opening game. |

He hasn't been playing in a deeper role in pre-season either from what I've seen. It's been Matic with van Ginkel / Romeu.

Same with the goalkeepers. We can afford to ease them in, rather than having 4 new players all starting in the opening game. I do find defensive midfield frustrating. Matic has made an enormous difference, but we still don't really have adequate cover if he gets injured, or another natural ball winner to play alongside him. Mikel is ok for those occasions when you really need to shut up shop, but he doesn't contribute much in other games. Van Ginkel could be the answer, but it's asking a lot of such an inexperienced young player. Ramires would be ok alongside Matic if he can recapture the form of a couple of seasons ago. Still, Mourinho must know what he's doing. If there's one thing he will insist on having, its a strong midfield unit. it's totally against his nature to see one of his teams bullied around in midfield. |
