Surely the decision shouldn't be made by the club when there isn't a manager in place for next season? It would make sense to give him another year and at least give the new man the option of using him or not?

Obviously if he wants to go thats a different matter but it seems a bizarre way of doing things.

From what i am hearing it's the club's decision. Terry wants to stay.

Bringing Benitez in was bad enough, but this ? this is a new low, and something i don't think i can ever forgive to be honest.

Perhaps they don't want the new manager to have to make that decision. If he didn't want him then instantly he's off to a bad start with the fans.

Yep I'm sick of this bullshit now. I've supported the club through thick and thin for many years like others here but never have I felt more like throwing the towel in. It's one poor decision after another. The morons running the club are utterly clueless. Just when you think the season can't get any worse, it does. Once Terry goes we'll pretty much just be left with a bunch of bottlers, with not a leader among them.

I'm feeling the same way.

It started with Sturridge a few years back. He's injury prone, but who knows how things would have turned out had he stayed with us. He would be Liverpool's key player if he remained fit.

Di Matteo was sacked less than half a season after winning the Champions League with us.

Benitez was bought in even though 99% of the fans were completely against it.

Mata was sold to a rival half a season after being voted Chelsea player of the season 2 years running.

Lampard, our all time top goalscorer and most consistent player we have ever had, was released and left to join City after everything he has given us.

Cech, sold to our most hated rivals in recent years.

And now this, Terry being released like he was nothing to the club.

The people in charge just don't give a **** about us fans and what we want.

The most baffling thing about this is that Ivanovic get's a new deal and he has been one of our worst players this season. How can he get a new deal and not Terry ?

The final kick in the nuts will be when it's announced that Mikel is getting a new deal.

But I don't think this decision is football related.

I think this has been coming for awhile now but his form has meant that it was impossible to do so. That has now changed.

This has nothing to do with what he can or cannot do on the pitch.

The decision is not a surprise to me but once again its the way we deal with that is the bigger problem.

We seem to have no understanding of P.R or how to control stories like this.

We was just getting back on track and now once again we not only shoot ourself in the foot we use a bazooka to do so.

Got to agree. Chelsea really are the past masters in creating bad publicity.

The opposition today wasn't great defensively, granted, but there were still some very good learning points. Hiddink is bringing very good balance and more variety. Matic today had clearly been told to stay deeper and not to stray forward to much. Rahman and Ivanovic attacked at times up the flanks, and not just Ivanovic.

On JT. I can understand the club there. A faster CB will give the team more options with a higher line, BUT, the club will lose a CB with a mountain of experience, incredible organisational skills at the back AND a massive leader. Those qualities will be missed, but the club moves on.

Man City in the next round. If you're going to win the cup, you have to beat the best sides, and the team now are capable of beating anyone. The muffins clearly got it wrong.

KDB won't be playing, and he's a big miss for City. He won't have done as well against us anyway, as the spaces will have been closed more. He's getting a lot of space at the moment to play, and that will change as time goes on. A great player, but nowhere near Hazard's standard.

I not sure how you can attack the club for their treatment of Lamps but also say we should have treated Cech badly but not letting him go to the only club he wanted to go to after all he did for us. He was not going to be first choice for us,He wanted to stay in London and wanted to play Champion's League football. We had a choice, make him number one or sell him to Arsenal or pay him the ultimate disrespect and let him be our number two. We are bigger then that (or should be), The respect we have paid when he has played against us has for me been the best part of the season. No option was the best but we went for the one that was best for Cech

Sturridge for all the hype is still a average player who could be a key player if he stays fit for a very average Liverpool side. His injuries wont cost him any where near what his mentality (I still think that's his issue at the moment). He has found his perfect club both over-hyped massively.

Mata again it was a choice of either benching him and selling him. We need top players on the bench but keeping players of that level on the bench (or not being part of the first team) is a pipe dream. There are too many clubs with money to burn for that to happen now if we did not sell him to Utd when we did we would have sold him for half the price the season after to someone else in a very bitter transfer saga.

Chelsea didn't announce this.
The brutal truth is they want to keep Cahill and this sends a big message out to John Stones

You don't have to be the ones announcing something to create bad publicly.

The fact is they should have done and done so in a professional way. Like they should have done many times before but have failed to do so.

I really hope they've given up on pursuing him. A partnership of Zouma and Stones would be a disaster. Zouma needs an older, more experienced centre-back alongside him for the time being, as does Stones.

Why are you trying to write like a joirnalist?

Full of cliches saying absolutely nothing

A great player like kdb will be missed? No kidding!

Cliche #1 - every game is a learning point

Obvious #1 - Chelseas fullbacks at times attack up the flanks.

"On JT. I can understand the club there. A faster CB will give the team more options with a higher line, BUT, the club will lose a CB with a mountain of experience, incredible organisational skills at the back AND a massive leader. Those qualities will be missed, but the club moves on."

Obvious #2 - Club captain, england captain and 35 yr old Mr Chelsea has "a mountain of experience". You dont say.

Speculation #1 - Terry is leaving the club. And yet, the club say they have not made a decision yet.

Cliche #2 - The club moves on.

"Man City in the next round. If you're going to win the cup, you have to beat the best sides, and the team now are capable of beating anyone. The muffins clearly got it wrong."

Cliche #3 - you have to beat the best sides to win the cup.

Just like united did to win the cup, when they played millwall in the final, or arsenal villa

"KDB won't be playing, and he's a big miss for City."

Obvious #3 A player with knee ligament damage will not be playing

Obvious #4 City will miss a 50million attacking forward

How informative.

Not a surprise.

It was as much as a sure fire thing as you can get in the football world.

i think this will harm man citys chances of winning this year!

Yet another manager, and one who might not know the club. That could work with JT moving on, but maybe Hiddink is worth a one year contract after his interim year ends, as long as he does well that is.

If a manger new to the club gets offered another four year contract, that really would be stupid. Two years with an option of a third year would seem to be the common sense approach.

For JT to hear it from his agent is just shameful!
We really do have a right bunch of clueless plonkers behind the scenes. A total embarrassment for a so-called top club.

What i cannot understand is why they gave Ivanovich another year but not one to JT Though he is without doubt on the wane, he is still our best centre half and our only real leader left on the pitch. He was well worth another year!

Having said that, with Pep at City for the next few years, our chances of winning the title will be slim to none, so this is as good a time as any to start rebuilding.

I really don't see why the club are surprised by JT coming out with the news now.

It's OK for them to say wait for the new manager but have they set out a timetable for him coming in? Is it next week? Next Month? End of the Season?

He has to start planning for next season now. He wants to get the best contract he can and have as much of a choice as possible. He has a family to think about and the kids education etc.

They cannot expect him to sit and wait and have no idea what he is going to be doing next season while they sit around and pick names out of a hat as who is going to be manager next season.

Them saying "wait for the new manager" while giving out contracts to other players say to me this is not a football decision but one that has been planned for quite a while and I think before Jose went (and prob even came)

Well you said the same when Jose cameback to you ain't the worlds best tipster mate.

So long as we don't have to wait as long as Liverpool then it's all good eh Dixie
