Can only hope Pellegrini announces he'll return to Valencia. Don't want him to be available (to us) for too long.

It's been a poor window.

Seems all to common players that need to get off the books hang around until the summer. Whilst decent players like Lakaku leaves and Mata.

As it stands now it could be another 5 year wait for the title and major rebuild. Hazard likely to go in the summer too. No Champions Leauge football either.

I just hope they find a way back as Man U and Liverpool have both struggled in recent years.

Anyway don't think Guardiola news is as bad as people think especially if Conte were to come in at Chelsea. Guardiola has to rejuvenate a team with old players such as Silva, Toure, Zabaleta, Kolarov. He has an injury prone first choice striker and an injury prone CB who coincidently are so good that he would be unable to find players good enough to replace them.

There's getting them to play his football and be cohesive as a unit, which with the fact he has to change his entire central midfield setup there is a hell of a lot of work to do with City in terms of player recruitment and tactical changes if he wants to implement his style.

Finally any window where you get 25M for Ramires aged 28 is a good window. Pato isn't even an issue any more as it's a loan and Remy was not sold to leicester so is still an option to use as backup ST.

Other than Teixeira nobody was available and Shaktar raised the price to £38M for Liverpool, it's easier to just wait until the summer, keep the players Chelsea currently have then fix the small problems in the squad(i.e. box to box midfielder, CB to replace Terry and a goalscoring attacking midfielder if Pedro and Oscar are not up for it)

Originally Posted by carefree_blue:

Falcao can be ruled out of the equation, he's hardly ever fit and doesn't cut it anyway - if we could have cancelled the loan I'm certain we would have done it. Even at Southampton Austin won't have a guarantee of starting every game.

Remy might wish to leave due to lack of gametime, but as some of us have said he actually would have played quite a bit more if he hadn't been injured a lot of the times Costa was ruled out. That wouldn't necessarily have been the case with Austin, who I also think is a bit better than Remy.”

First paragraph tell that to Remy. It's very likely that the club are going to buy a new striker in the summer with Costa's injury and disciplinary record and the fact that they don't trust Remy with his fitness issues. Drogba tended to play ahead of Remy and Falcao was getting games ahead of Remy...

Could easily be the case that Austin didn't want to end up like Lambert and co being second/third choice. Pelle is also 30 years old and his contract is expiring in 18 months. Austin with his goal record is very likely to be first choice for Soton within the next year or two, Austin would never be first choice for Chelsea.

There is no need for a major rebuild either. This is not the team that had Malouda and Kalou starting at a CL final ffs. That is a team requiring a major rebuild. Not a team with Fabregas/Matic/Hazard/Oscar/Costa/Willian/Zouma/Azpilicueta/Courtois starting in your first 11.

The position Chelsea currently finds themselves in is really skewing opinions completely the other way.

It was a OK window.

Better then expected due to Remy not going.

There was never going to be a massive amount of activity and rightly so. It would have been a waste of time if there was.

Is there a reason to bring up players who left ages ago?

Bit of a blow with Guardiola going to City, we all would have loved him to become our next coach.

Its hard to see who would we go for instead, Pellergrini? Rodgers? Simone?

I can't see Simone leaving Athletico just yet, as he would be my first choice, but i think he seems loyal to the club. I would have liked Klopp also but we have missed the boat on him too.

Suddenly your struggling for managers who could manage us, id actually think Pellegrini would be a decent manager for us, bring a bit of stabillity for a change. I would NOT want Mancini who is the other name being touted about us.

No to Pellegrini and Conte is reported to be available after the euros.

Considering his record at Juventus I think he'll take to here decently. Think a contingency plan would be to give Hiddink a 1 year contract extension.

I think Pep going to City is going to help our next manager.

All the pressure will be on City for the next few years - The most money. Already the best team and strongest squad and now the best manager in football as boss.
Anything less than 2 Prem titles and a CL trophy will be considered a failure for them.
There wont be any serious ideas about us winning the title next year and a top four finish should be considered a successful season, so our new manager won't, or at least shouldn't be under the usual pressure our managers face.

I don't see the Pepe fuss.

He will be going to a competitive league of the first time. If Jose goes to Utd it will cause him even more problems Jose got to him last time and will do so again and put that with the normal premiership pressure that is very different from the pressure he is use to is going to make it very difficult for him.

Great manager but this is a real test for him. Does he rebuild from scratch? Does he keep the bones of the current team?

Either brings its own problems which he needs to deal with from before his first league game.

Every time we have heard a new manager or a club buying X,Y,Z will mean they will walk the league has resulted in nothing. The league is still a tough nut to crack and all teams having access to massive amounts of money (which is only going to go up) its going to get harder and harder over the next 2/3 years never mind over the next 5/6 when a few clubs will have bigger grounds. Really don't see him being there by the time our new ground starts to take shape never mind is anywhere near open. Might see out the 3 years but more likely 2.

Rodgers?

Are you having a laugh

Klopp is hardly pulling up trees, i think he is the emperors new clothes, he will be sacked within a year.

A few lads on here doubted whether the team were any better post Mourhino. To any honest observer, the change re' performance, motivation and results was obvious, and it's sad that a supporters thread like this can get attacked and undermined like that by a few bogus posters.

A recent link sums up the points:

http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest...r-quality.html

'Cheeky' (a player I said many times should be given more of a chance):

'He spoke about the fluid movement and interchanging between the four attacking players during Sunday’s game.'

‘That comes from the training ground,’ said Loftus-Cheek. ‘Training has been top and I think that’s why we haven’t been losing in this last run of games. Hopefully we can keep training well and bring it into games.'

Come on lads, genuine fans please..

You want to put your money where your mouth is? I'll bet you Klopp will be there for his tenure, you really don't have a clue do you?

Sorry if i was misunderstood but i wasn't suggesting Rodgers would be a good manager for us, quite the opposite. The point of my post was to say there isn't many decent available managers at the moment

I think Klopp will do well at Liverpool personally, he could well win the league cup for them this year.

Tit Top would like Rodgers in due to his Liverpool connections

Totally agree. The Kloppster is doing very well, as is Pochettino and Ranieri. Bringing in yet another manager who doesn't know the club though might be risky. Ranieri knows Chelsea, as does Hiddink obviously. The squad has quite a few leaders now, and they know what they need to do. A manager coming in doesn't have to make any radical changes, and that's why Hiddink is doing so well at the moment. Just a few sensible tweaks here and there, such as utilising the squad, bringing balance in MF, attacking in numbers and giving the youth a chance.

If I was the board I'd consider giving Hiddink another year. I'd also consider Ranieri.

Yoka lad wants Mozza back! You're on your own there lad, and if you brought that up at The Duck, you'd soon be shouted down.

That's a very good point, and he might have to change more than he needs to to get what he wants. Change takes time, and while new mega stars are bedding in, we could open up a healthy gap. There are already too many stars at City. Look at Sterling. Did brilliantly the past few seasons, and now looks ordinary.

Trying to fit him, De Bruyne (who will start to get marked out of games soon, like Silva) plus other mega money stars in could bring a lot of imbalance.

He's a fantastic manager, but it's the PL, and what's he going to be like when he's up against 'lower' more physical teams who refuse to lie down. It might be a nasty shock compared to leagues where there are only one or two genuine contenders.

As long as we go with a manager who knows the club, and doesn't change too much, we could do very, very well next season, and not too badly this season.

Liverpool are currently being played off the park and are taking a beating, you must be devastated.
