Willian makes it 3-0. Brilliant assist by Costa.

Made In Chelsea are definitely in control of Geordie Shore at the moment if you want to reality TV reference the game.

I have been really impressed with Chelsea tonight but how bad are Newcastle I wonder if Chelsea can get a similar result in the Champions League

Well, there's a huge gulf in class between PSG and Newcastle. They have a frightening depth of quality in their squad. But who knows ?
Yes, we looked very good today. There were some impressive performances all round. Even without the two goals, Pedro probably had his best game for us, he never stopped working from start to finish. Willian (again) and Costa were great. Cahill was solid at the back, and Rahman finally seems to be getting the hang of defending. Actually, I couldn't fault anybody.

I know Hiddink will play Fab at AM while Chelsea get dominated for 90 mins again in a big game.

Understand that its PSG away though. Chelsea's best bet is to lose by a goal(hopefully scoring one as well) as I'm confident that Chelsea can beat PSG at Stamford Bridge.

There's always the risk of Chelsea spending ages defending with that Mikel/Matic/Fab trio and going a goal down early. Fab is Chelsea's best player atm along with Costa so it makes zero sense to drop him(and use Oscar/Willian at AM).

Reckon Chelsea will just defend for 90mins and go for the 0-0 while focusing on set piece situations...

Good clinical performance though it has to be said that Newcastle were pretty awful.
Big ask to beat PSG over two legs.

Really ? I think Willian is clearly our best player at the moment, with Costa not far behind.
I watched Fabregas carefully today after our discussion last week. He was ok, and provided a couple of exquisite passes. But he still doesn't pick up opposing midfield runners, Willian (and even Pedro) got him out of trouble a few times.
Having said that, I'd keep the same line-up after today's performance and hope Willian plays out of his skin again. The guy doesn't seem to mind having to do 2/3 player's job every week.

I'd like to be positive, but I fully expect to see Mikel and Oscar back in the team on Tuesday.

I agree that there is obviously that issue. But the benefits of Fab is that early ball from deep and changes us from the insipid defensive possession team to a more ruthless fast transitioning team.

Mikel and Matic obviously are better in that regard but the issue(especially with Mikel) is a false sense of security, they don't let their player go goal side but they don't know when to get tight to their man which allows them to get a run on them. Also you don't have the benefit of the early ball or quick transition play when Chelsea do regain possession.

Disappointed with Hazard though. Needs to be more ruthless in front of goal. On another note, Azpilicueta offers so much more attacking wise on the right than Ivanovic. Baba needs a chance too.

A lot to cheer about, and a very smart performance, hitting Newcastle early to ease pressure later in the game, and to give some vital rest to a few players players in view of the PSG match.

Newcastle were up for it to start with and there were some tough tackles that were rightly penalised by the ref'. Should take nothing away from the very fast, very decisive attacking play of the forwards, getting in behind. That wasn't Newcastle rolling over, that was very good attacking movement and clinical finishing. Here, here lads!

Nice to see Pedro up for the PL. He looked very out of sorts a while back, and is showing the right attitude now.

Cahill and Ivanovic at CB is solid, and that's reassuring given two huge injury blows in a short space of time now. Also good to see Traore and Cheeky on the pitch. Fantastic goal by Traore. You see muffins, if you give young players a real chance, they can deliver. You have to give them the chance though.

Willian motm. He's run a lot this season, and sometimes that looks impressive but the stats don't always support the plaudits. Goals, assists and completed passes is what I go on. Mata was brilliant there, and there's no key stat for 'looking very busy by running around a lot'. When he's looked busy before, he has also misplaced a lot of passes, and put in corners and free kicks that don't even clear the first man.

On Saturday having said that, a brilliant through ball for Costa's goal, a great run and goal himself, and the ability to beat a man, run with the ball and track back when needed. You can't argue there.

Excellent!

It's always been about 'end product' with him. There was almost none of it up until this season.

The end product is now in open play too. Before he was just becoming a set piece specialist.

Well Matic is suspended so Mikel is a given, but at least we'll be spared having both of them lining up together again.

Oscar should be on the bench, if available. I'd stick with Pedro, Willian and Hazard.

Are you sure about Matic ? Most sources are still predicting he will be in our line-up.

A bit of good news, Blanc believes it will be "too risky" to field Marco Verratti, who is recovering from a groin injury,*or Javier Pastore who has a calf problem. Though Ibrahimovic, Silva and Maxwell can all expect to return.

I think we have a chance. PSG have only lost one of their last 39 games. But that stat tells it all really, most games are just a walk in the park for them. Forget the top teams in the PL, most of our teams from 5-12 would be challenging for a top finish in the French league.
So, PSG only get really tested in European competition. Whereas, our relatively crap season playing better opposition at least means we are battle hardened, we should be up for a scrap with something to prove. That's the straw I'm currently clutching at anyway.

He not only used to run around like a headless chicken but play like a Chicken, always passing the buck and letting others do the really difficult stuff in the final third of the pitch.
Now, we have a real player who is now doing what he should always have been doing and it's great to see!

Hazard is the one who should be dropped to the bench!
He's lost all confidence as well as half a yard of pace. It's worrying that after all this time he still looks million miles from the player he once was. The really top players never lose form for this long a period.

Think the only way Hazzard will get back to anywhere near his previous levels is by playing 90 min's as often as possible. He has not been fit enough to do that really since the season started.
