While I think the English game due to the competitive nature of the league will remain league focused (or at least I hope it does as for me the League will always come first second and third) I think leagues which are less competitive the Champions League will become even more important. Do I see PSG winning the Champions League before we do? Yep I do and I think it will be a different type of kudos you will see in the future. It will not measured on competitiveness but on different measures.

Playing at "the top" or "being the best" can come via different challenges.

PSG for example is a massive project and with that comes different challenges etc.

The English league offers very different challenges but we should not be dismissing challenges like PSG and for example China can offer top players.

If you call up and say "Hazzard is a lazy C*nt who JT should kick around the dressing room and needs to remember that he is earns loads of money and should remember the nurses and play for the shirt" which even if that is clearly a load of nonsense you are more likely to have that view put on TV/Radio/printed then if you actually discuss the manner in a intelligent sensible way.

Social Media's entire existence seems to be to give stick nowadays. It comes from not policing access to things facebook and tw*ter. People seem to think their views suddenly count or are important. I am bored sitting on the loo I know I will make up some nonsense or become offended by something that has nothing to do with me that will amuse me for 5 minutes

If something is on social media nowadays I find its best to consider its complete and utter nonsense then give it a second thought.

If he is set on leaving, the club should let him leave. Look at Stones at Everton. His form has dipped, not long after he had handed in a transfer request. Holding onto a player who wants away does not work.

If it's more of an injury / rehabilitation issue having said that, then his best may yet be on the way in a season when we need his magic. One of the few players in the world who can turn a tight game, such as a crucial cup tie against world class opposition, or a make or break PL game such as Man Utd away last season.

People go on about Willian, and he's sometimes very good, but at his best, he's not in the same class as Hazard.

Not easy to pin point what is wrong there. Rehabilitation problems or a lack of desire to play in the very tough PL? He was also the most fouled player in the French league, so he might not get it any easier if he moves.

Every player needs to track back to some point, even a striker. A problem this season is the holding mf's not doing their job properly. Makalele in that position covered ground to spot threats very quickly, while there have been massive holes in front of the defence at times even when Mikel and Matic have been playing together. With those two, there should be virtually no space for opposition danger men to operate.

I think as Don said in a previous post, he just wants to move on. It probably started as a falling-out with Mourinho, but I think his mind is now made up.

I'm almost resigned to Hazard leaving now, but I'm also hoping we can get something like the figures that were quoted before in any upcoming transfer deal. I'm not talking about the silly prices of £100m+, but we could have reasonably expected £60/70m given his age and potential. Do you think we will still get a figure in that ball park if he leaves ?

If he goes thankfully for us form rarely plays any part in the fee's.

Real will want him to show a statement of support for their manager and start preparing for life if the transfer ban comes into play and PSG will want to show they are a force in the game etc.

The only concern with the possible fee is the ability of Chelsea to actually negotiate a suitable fee.

I slated Willian for very good reasons - He was contributing next to nothing. He was passing the buck letting others do the difficult things and getting away with doing bugger all except run aimlessly round the pitch following the direction of the ball.
He is a completely different player now with 'end product' and using his running ability and energy to run into areas that actually hurt the opposition, making or at least trying to make the 'killer pass' taking players in the final third, getting crosses in and taking shots. Now, he is a player and you won't find me say a bad word against him if he keeps playing like this.

As for Hazard.
It's sad seeing a player of the year and one many expected to become a genuine, top five world class player, have their form fall off a cliff and become a player struggling to justify a place in a mid table team. The real worry is this is not just a blip in form. It started in the final month or so of last season when we were all but Champs by then.
But, the fans have a right to start slagging him off, especially after the comments about PSG.

The Torres comparison is actually a very good one.

I don't see any similarity with Torres. It's still a mystery to me how today's extensive medicals didn't show up any deterioration in his ability to react dynamically from a standing start. It was clear after a few games that something was wrong. That's not very technical, but you know what I mean. We basically bought a player who would never be the same again no matter what we tried.

The nearest thing to the Hazard situation is probably Robben. At his best he was unplayable. Unlike Hazard, Robben (in those days) was always likely to have a sulk. Hazard to me has always been a brave little player who took his knocks with little complaint. For that reason losing Hazard seems even worse. But Robben went on to become one of the best players in the world.

You can count the number of decent games Torres had at Chelsea in his career on a couple of hands.
Last season Hazard was player of the season and at times single handedly one games.

Anyone seeing Torries is his last run of games for Liverpool could see there was issues.

His injuries robbed him of some of the things that made him the player he was.

Torries was bought in as a complete player Hazzard was not.

Hazzard has had a injury and due to a number of reasons really has not had a chance to get match fit.

Hazzard is a highly courted by a number of clubs who can offer him very different things then we can. Torries was not.

The comparison is not a decent one never mind a good one.

We won't know anything until Eden is fully fit at the moment looking at him I not sure he is even 80% yet (and is still performing better then Torries did at times when he was 100% fit)

Same old story. We look great going foward (should be 3/4 in front) but still vulnerable in DM ans at the back. Fabregas and Pedro look great combining together. Hazard seems a bit sharper and Costa/Willian are working hard as usual. But whenever Man City break out they look a threat.
