Not at all.

The top players are not small picture thinkers like that.

They know that a team like Chelsea can afford to spend big (more so if we sell players like Hazzard) and the type of players they can attract is very likely to mean that any time out of the Champion's League is for a small window.

They know that coming to Chelsea will help get the team into Champions League spots and if not they can just as easy get a transfer to another team if we don't

Now, we have players that are not only not as gifted, but can be physically bullied, not mentally strong enough to withstand spells of pressure and lack the on-field leadership of our former greats.
Pretty much the same thing happened to Arsenal, once when they lost Henry and Co.

It's going to be difficult to get back those qualities, no matter how much money we throw at it, or who the manger is.”

Well I blame some of that with the obsession to try and be like Barcelona, the same way as Arsenal.
I hope Conte gets us back to being a powerful and big physical team as we used to be.
Not interested in tippy tappy football.

I not sure how you was saying that.

We have done better because we have much better players

The comment was Utd have team team of decent players and you said we had the same when the evidence disproves that entirely.

You cannot just look at one small window (i.e this season)

Money talks in football, and I don't think our stock will drop that much with one season out of the CL after 13 consecutive years in it.

Also if you think our squad is nothing special as you said a few posts back, then it sounds like you don't think the club have done a good job at attracting quality players in recent years anyway. So what makes you think anything would have magically changed this summer, even with CL football on offer again?

To some extent we do need to go back to that team but also we need to remember that was along time ago and we needed to move forward from that.

There are more teams after these type of players nowadays and teams are finding it more easy to hang on to those players. Its not as easy as it was .

We have tried recently to find a happy medium and really have struggled to do so.

I would like to see the new manger bring someone in with him for not the playing side of things but someone to connect him with the board and decision makers

Looks like Diego Costa is going to get a lengthy ban for biting Gareth Barry

He tried, don't think he actually did bite, teeth looked to have made contact then turned into a hug and a kiss when he realised he was about to be red carded

Do you think Hiddink might start playing Pato from now until the end of the season as Costa will miss at least three games

I'd be surprised if Liverpool don't make any improvement once Klopp starts bringing the players he wants in, but it'll take time for him to overhaul that squad.

United can only improve if Mourinho takes over, but will continue going backwards if LVG sees out his contract.

Spurs are anyone's guess. Will be interesting to see what sort of signings they make in the summer.”

I think Leicester might surprise a few people next year if they buy well in the summer Liverpool should improve after Klopp gets his own players in United should definitely improve if Mourinho takes over and Tottenham will be able to get the top players as they will be in the Champions League and a World class striker to partner Kane is a must

Except he didn't bite him.

Nice try

Forgetting the non-biting incident, what an awful game !
I really can't think of anything positive to say about it at all. I suppose we have to hand it to Lukaku, his first goal was something a bit special. But our pathetic defence made it easy for him. But apart from that there was little football from either team. A scrappy, bad tempered affair, lacking in skill or technique. Never thought I'd say it, but I think I'll be glad when this season's over.

Let's wait and see what happens before we start saying what he did or not do

As soon as I saw Matic and Mikel were both in the starting line-up I knew it wasn't going to be our day. Guus seems to be the only person that thinks it's a good idea having those two play alongside each other.

Let's be honest, he's not done a good job this time around as interim, which really just shows that we might as well have given Mourinho till the end of the season and then re-evaluated things for what it was worth, as some of us thought should be the case before he was fired.

Sort of performance that summed up the season. Awful.
Really poor defensively.

Probably right. Jose could of got us to mid-table.

I agree about Matic and Mikel, did we really need such a defensive set-up against Everton ? I don't really see the point in playing Kenedy as a LB either, give Rahman more games, we paid nearly £22m for the guy.
But I do think Guus has done more or less what we paid him for. We're still undefeated in the PL since his arrival and I don't think anyone honestly expected us to get any further in the CL. Yes, you could say he was partly to blame today. But it was such a crap performance all round that I hesitate to single him out for criticism. I'm hoping it will go down as "just one of those days".

Yes, he was partly to blame today, as were the players putting in a substandard performance. He set the team up wrong and I agree with your questioning of his logic in playing an attacking midfielder at left-back. Likewise why bother bringing on JT to play upfront when you've got Traore left on the bench? I know the game was pretty much beyond us by that point but still....

Looking at the overall picture though I don't think he's done a particularly decent job. Undefeated in the league counts for very little when most of those games have been drawn. I never believed we were in any genuine danger of going down with Mourinho in charge, so we seem to have gained nothing by making the change.

Watch the footage. Clearly weird, but definitely no bite. The faux outrage and outright racism on the thread discussing this is awful.

He will probably get a couple of games. One for the sending off and the other for not leaving the pitch. There was no bite however much some people want there to be.

Faux outrage? Yep, although you're the forum expert when it comes to that.
Racism? Nah.

Left back probably highlights the abject failure of our transfer and loan policy.
We buy and sell Luiz, sell Bertrand and pay a huge amount for Rahman who is clearly not up to it. Too top it all Ake is playing excellently at Watford.
We send up playing a left winger there.......
