McEachran's gone to Vitesse. On loan, of course.
Well he's never going to leave considering the contract he is on.

Am so excited that the Premier League is back and that Chelsea are on TV tomorrow night.
Can't wait to see Costa (hopefully we have got a good striker this time) and Fabregas I always thought he was a great player and think he will be great for us and as a bonus he knows the Premier League.

Agree with a lot of others on here about another striker, if Costa gets injured or his temper gets the better of him and he gets a ban, don't really want to be relying on Torres!!!

Here's to the new season and Up the Blues (win or lose)

Really looking forward to tommorow, I diddnt pay much attention to pre season as I usually find it's dull and doesn't give you a real indication of where the team is. Hoping for a marker to be laid tommorow with a strong performance and good result, 3-0 to the blues!

Going for a tight win myself. Not sure if we going to play the team we play for most of the season or the ones that are as near fitness as possible.

It's a very good test for us as this is the type of game we have struggled with.

Not expecting to much from the game. Get in get the job done and go home

Never easy, a newly promoted team, away from home, first game of the season. I will be satisfied with 3 points, not much bothered how we get them.
Man City didn't look great yesterday, but you couldn't fail to be impressed with their strength in depth. If Arsenal splurge some money on a top class striker they would be a real threat as well. Liverpool looked weaker than I had expected, and Man Utd need to do a lot of last minute shopping to have any chance in my opinion.
It's going to be interesting.

Haven't seen any team news for tonight, but I'm expecting Ramires and Matic in CM, with Fabregas ahead and Oscar on the bench.

I'd like to see van Ginkel play.....still get the feeling he'll be loaned out in the final days of the window

I think Ramires still has one game to serve from his suspension at the end of last season ?
I'm expecting Fabregas to start alongside Matic, with maybe Mikel coming on later to shut up shop when we're three goals up.
Looking foward to this, friendlies are one thing but now the real business starts and I want to see Costa and Fabregas in action.

Rumour is Courtois starts over Cech... looking likely that Cech is leaving before the end of the window too. Real Madrid keen.

I'm happy with Courtois starting. Nothing against Cech, but if we're going to lose one of them I'd rather it not be the one who could be with us for the next decade+.

Forgot about Ramires. Really hope it is van Ginkel in his place. I can't believe we're heading into another season with the prospect of seeing Mikel in a Chelsea shirt

Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry (c), Azpilicueta; Fabregas, Matic; Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard; Diego Costa

SUBS: Cech, Zouma, Filipe Luis, Mikel, Willian, Torres, Drogba

Glad both Azpi and Ivanovic start, neither deserve to lose their place. Harsh on Cech, but it was always going to be a hard decision. I too would have liked to have seen van Ginkel alongside Matic with Fabregas further forward in place of Oscar. Oh well, hopefully this team does the business tonight - I'm hoping we can better City's win and go top.

Yes, Mikel is ok if you know it's going to be a "backs to the wall" defending job. But hopefully we won't get many of those. Otherwise he's just useful to bring on to shut up shop for 15/20 minutes. Hardly worth a squad place for that alone.

I think Oscar is a project of Jose's, I think he really likes him and will be one of his untouchables

I think Oscar is a good player but not yet a world class one, hes a work in progress but theres no doubt he has potential to be world class. Still, so does Hazard but hes stuck out in the wing and it doesnt feel the team is built around him. Oscar seems to be getting the team built a round him, wheras Hazard seems to be trying to be moulded in the same fashion as Ronaldo as a winger/striker. I am not sure if that is Hazards strength, i thought his best position was in the centre but oh well, im sure Jose knows best.

That would be one hell of a bench if you could turn back the years, two of the best strikers in the world.

It's arguably our strongest side, though Cech, Luis or Willian could come in without making the team any weaker. Good to see Jose is going straight in without any messing around, he means business.

That bench is weak if things aren't going well. Team looks strong though.

How long do we give Costa without scoring before labelling him 'worse than Torres'?

Thirty minutes. Didn't take long before we are victim of a ridiculous refereeing decision, Costa get a yellow for diving after clearly being brought down.
Still, 1-3 and more to come.

Agree it was an awful decision
Doesn't look like it will affect the result though

Poor decision.

Terrible defending for the goal we conceded, but our second was fantastic Fabregas....have I mentioned how happy I am we signed him?

Good to see Costa off the mark, and what a lovely move for Schurrle's goal. Two assists already for Fab.

Really poor from the ref as everyone else has said.

Some superb football going foward, that second goal was magnificent. We don't look so solid at the back though. That's not going to worry us against the likes of Burnley, but better teams ? Let's hope it's just a few early season lapses in concentration.

Well comfortable in the end, and not far off my prediction part from the shock opener. Defending wasnt great and i thought Courtois could have done a bit better - diddnt even move to try to save it although i guess he couldn't see it.

Diddnt matter in the end, fantastic going forward. Finally we have a striker who looks like he can poach goals, feels like forever since we had one of those. If Costa does that all season we will have more than got our money worth.

Was impressed with Fabregas and Schrulle too, Hazard showing flashes of brilliance as well. A great first result and im looking forward to the season ahead!

That second goal is even more stunning when you realise there was 25 passes in the build up, a fantastic Hazard dribble followed by two stunning passes from Ivan and Fab and a brilliant finish from Schurrle. Team goal of the season? Hard to see how many could top that.

No, not a great second half but it's nice to be top (yeah I know it's only one game in but start as you mean to go on). Fabregas and Costa both impressive on their debut.
