As you say, it was all too easy to draw many conclusions from the game. Pato looked decent, it was a great penalty and he played a key role in the superb third goal.
Miazga was ok for a young guy making his debut in English football. Pedro and Fabregas both looked sharp and so did Kenedy. In fact there were no really poor performances, but Courtois continued to spill a few simple balls..must be a confidence issue ?”

Yep, he's looking shaky for sure. If his heart is not in it I would give Begovic a change again.

Begovic is less likely to be at Chelsea next season then Courtois so don't see the point in giving him any starts. Decent player but not a number one at this level.

RLC played very well and with the next game being Swansea I would start him, If it was City or Spurs or Liverpool I would not say the same as I think he played well he could have done better against such a poor team and how well we played as a team

So Conte is confirmed. Not sure what i make of it, although it isn't a surprise. I don't know enough about him to judge him yet so i will wait and see how he does.

A shame that we have to wait till after the Euros to get him though, may hinder our preparation for next season somewhat.

If anything i feel we will see quite a lot of personnel changes in the summer, especially up top with Falcao/Remy/Pato probably all going. A lot of underperformers this season so i fully expect a clearout. JT leaving as well means it feels a bit like an end of an era.

I am sure we will see Terry still playing for chelsea next season

Prob the most logical and sensible appointment with regards to the names we would have been looking at and who was available.

At least its been confirmed and we don't have to go thought the summer waiting for him to finish his current job and then it being confirmed.

A clear out has to happen not sure of it will of not but selling Hazard and Costa would free up the odd £50-70 million to rebuild. I think the egos have to go aswell as the Facao players. Chelsea have signed some poor ones past few seasons.

Does being a First Team Coach and not Manager mean he has no say over transfers?

If so, does not bode well.

I think the time of the coach/manager having control over transfers has long gone.

Different in the days when managers was a long term appointment but today when managers are in the job for no more then a couple of years I think its harder.

If we get the right people in charge of the transfers then it can work and the current lot have had a degree of success but I still don't think they are the entirely the right people. I think we need more people who have more experience at this level (someone like Guss would be ideal) of the football world. As with any business deal it helps if they people conducting the deal have a connection of sorts. I not sure people like Emenalo have that when talking to their opposite numbers

Isn't that Diego Costa's job now.

Unless you are called Arsene Wenger.

If anyone could complete this questionnaire for my research project it would be greatly appreciated.

It is looking at the effect of sports betting advertisement on sporting consumption.

Many Thanks.

But he is a long term manager.

I very much doubt once he goes the new manager will be afforded the same amount of power.

When he got the job being in sole charge of transfers was the norm for the top clubs just like it was for SAF. The way clubs are run nowadays have changed

Isn't that the title we've been using for a few years now ? I wouldn't read too much into it anyway. Conte is very much his own man, he'll want a big say in who stays or goes at Chelsea and who we bring in.
Quite an interesting article from the Telegraph about Conte. He certainly sounds a hard taskmaster.

Rumor's are Conte has met with the players and had a chat to Guss.

If so its at least another step in the right direction.

And he's going to be talking to players who might be leaving and further meetings with players during the coming weeks until he takes over. Sounds like a good thing to do.

I wonder if Roman has talked to Guess about staying on in some capacity? A sensible, wise, well liked guy with decades of experience behind him could be just what we need behind the scenes.

I think if Guss was interested in such a role it would have been sorted out before now or even happened long ago.

If you look at his work history he will more then likely take another international job. At his age I don't blame him, He is young enough to still work on the training pitch but at the same time having the pressure of day to day management will not be the most appealing of prospects. There will always be international jobs available to him and with his experience they will be well paid ones

Would be a good appointment but I think its more in the realms of fantasy booking then reality. He is the type of person we should be looking at for such roles but that depends on if any such roles are available (with the current personnel with their current job roles I not sure it would work).

Indeed, as it gets the ball rolling for those who are in or out as such.

Also he gets to see the training facilities etc.

Him turning up at the ground rubber stamps the appointment if you like. It showing he is already in "Chelsea" mode.

Who ever made the decision for him to turn up was a very good move.

If it was his own idea its another sign it was a good appointment

The Conte thread is closed so I'm posting here

Another group of Journos and ex footballers have said Conte is very 'Jose like and then some' in regards to be pragmatic and doing litlle more than trying to grind out results by stopping the opposition playing, score a goal then shut up shop. Adding, if you want to watch attractive football you can forget it under this guy.

They (the media) talked about watching Italy's Euro qualifiers and even against the really weak teams like Malta they struggled to create. The Italian fans have not been at all happy with what they have been watching. So, even by Italian standards his football is awful to watch.

It must be a myth about Roman wanting to watch good football.

Press suggesting Conte has talked Costa into staying and that Begovic is replacing Courtois as number 1 keeper. What do you all think?

But the media are never wrong????

Or maybe unlike you Roman and the board actually do some research and not just follow what other people tell them. There is an awful lot to say for having and forming your own opinion

Did YOU watch the games they talked about?

How many Italian fans have YOU spoken to? Or did someone tell you that Italian fans are not happy?

You give Rafa a chance but not Conte. Nothing more to be said.
