I would settle for a sensible pre-season unlike last season.

Good to see the club finally came to their senses and offered JT a new contract. Im certain it will be for less wages as he is a top earner at the club, but will likely play a reduced role in the team next season. Will be interesting to see whether he accepts or takes a more lucrative offer overseas.

My issue is we don't know what the offer is.

It could be 5k per week, It could be pay as you play etc etc etc.

It could be a utterly ridiculous contract that we would not offer to a 19 year old.

Think he would sign a sensible contract and hopefully that's what we have offered rather then just offering a contract so there is no backlash during the player awards (which I think is tonight) and the game on Sunday both will have a certain amount of media attention

Aye, been an awful season, no real positives to take away from it. Hope we can rebuild and come back stronger for next season but i feel it may take more than one summer to turn things around. Conte needs some time before we judge him and hopefully Abramovich doesn't sack him if we have a few poor results...

For me, Oscar, Ivanovic, Pedro, Costa, Remy, Falcao, Pato will probably all be leaving. Hazard is a possibility too if Real/PSG offer £50m+, but id rather keep him as we know what he can do.

Didn't bother watching it, but just looking at the match stats now. Pato as an unused sub again, even with it being a meaningless game? Why we even bothered signing him is one of many mysteries from this season.

Trouble is next season we are going to be really short of experienced players with JT going and are going to need players like Brana and Cahill more then ever. I think that's one of the reasons they gave Brana a new contract, They knew they was going to get rid of JT

Lovely montage of JT, audience started chanting his name, he got extremely emotional.

He stated on his Instagram page that the new contract is a 'new role' so I don't blame him at all for considering all his options.

Very strange love in yesterday with the Leicester and Chelsea fans yesterday. Leicester fans singing 'Eden Hazard, he's won of our own'. Then Chelsea and Leicester doing the 'stand up if you hate Tottenham'! Leicester fan outside the ground saying they want a statue of Eden put up in the City.

Lovely exchange between Roman and Claudio and a much deserved Guard of Honour was given.

Loved the specially brought in banner for JT in the crowd. Then JT's speech to the SB faithful, he got extremely emotional and choked up, this man clearly wants to stay and Roman giving him a huge clap and smiling....not quite sure what to make of that!

Oh and Spurs being even more 'Spursy' if that was possible. Only Spurs could finish 3rd in a 2 horse race. Don't ever change!!


Thank goodness this horrific season is over, the players need to take a good long hard look at themselves. Let's enjoy all the sport over the summer and let's hope we have some good news re who stays, who goes and new acquisitions!

Exactly. Ivanovic was shambolic this season - hardly the cool, experienced head that was needed on the pitch.

It's a shame, because he was a good player for us for many years, but will end up tarnishing that by staying at the club longer than he should have.

I agree with you about Falcao, Remy and Pato. I thought there might have been a glimmer of hope for Pato, but he can't have impressed in training.

I'm reluctantly coming around to agreeing with the majority about Oscar. I think a fresh start might be better for him and us. It's a great pity because I still think he has enormous potential. My proviso would be that we get a decent price for him though, one that reflects his age and international experience, and not just based on recent club form.

I'm hoping Costa stays, some of the alternatives mentioned don't impress me. I've seen Higuain put foward as a possibility, he's a good finisher (as his cv shows) but there's not much more to his game. I don't see us being able to improve on Costa without European football.

I don't see why Pedro would go, or why we would want to get rid of him. He had a shaky start in the PL, but after a lifetime at Barca I think that was to be expected. In the latter half of the season he did well, in fact he was often one of our best players.

I think Hazard will stay, the amount Roman would want for him should discourage most suitors. I suppose the Euros could change that, if Hazard has a fantastic tournament someone may come in with a silly offer (£70m or more) otherwise I can't see us selling.

I think we might as well hang on to Mikel. He's not going to fetch big money and he's a very useful squad player. I've never heard any reports of him complaining despite all the time he has spent on the bench. You can't buy that attitude, and he's a more than adequate utility player to bring on in defence. We will need another player in DM, but I would keep Mikel as cover.

Matic worries me a bit. He transformed the team when he arrived, he was the player we had been needing since Michael Essien was sadly injured. His form was great up until the end of that season, that continued into the next. Then he had that sending-off for retaliation last season and he hasn't really looked the same player since.
I don't know what it is, his confidence may be shot ? The falling-out with Mourinho ? But whatever it is we really need him back to his best !

As bad as our season has been and its been bad I would have been more angry and upset if we had Spur's season.

Think it was 5 points or something clear and 3 games left. Looking at the form of the three teams (Us Southampton and Newcastle) and Spur's form I would be annoyed if we did not get 6 points but really upset if we had got 4 but to come away with the results they did would be totally unacceptable. Its all well and good saying "oh I would take 3rd and Champions League at the start of the season" but as the season changes so should what you regard as a good season, Spurs measuring stick should have changed drastically as the season went on.

This season has been so bad for us I really have laughed it off but I not sure I would be so relaxed about it if we did what they did. I have questioned if our players have it many times though out the season but if they performed like that after playing the way Spurs have throughout the season I would be questioning them even more

Looking like Costa wont be going to the Euro's.

If he stays that might be a big plus for us next season if we can work on his fitness issues, Get him back early if we need to.
