Yep that's right, which they were then widely reported to have done a couple of months into the loan spell.

So those reports were wrong, and he's still ours then? If so, I wouldn't mind seeing him given another chance. Never really got much of a look-in under JM, but he's done well since then.
Don't remember any reports of them taking up a permanent deal have to say. Think his future depends on any buys already being looked at. Am sure plans are in some advanced stages

Here's a few reports, which all quote a statement from Roma. A lot of other media sources reported it too at the time.

I'm not sure he'll return either, but if it was a choice between bringing him or Cuadrado back I know which I'd rather see.

Conte's boys still doing well!

Torn between wanting him back early to start working on Chelsea but wanting him to do well because he is our new boss!

It is a tough call.

On one hand the sooner he can start making plans for next season the better (Last seasons transfer marker was a difficult one to operate in and this one will be even harder) but having him come in after a successful tournament would also be a help to us.

I don't think it matters if he comes back early. Planning for next season will have started a few months back, the club will already know his thoughts on transfers so what much else can he really do before the start of pre-season anyway?

I caught the tail end of someone on Talksport saying he had handed in his list of preferred players to buy months ago.

So yes, hopefully......these things are in the works...........

Yep, there's more to gain by him coming in on the back of a successful tournament, especially in helping to persuade transfer targets to join us. Of course I would love England to win it but seeing as that's highly unlikely....

Also hope Belgium have a decent run in this tournament, for Hazard and Courtois' sake.

Hear, hear! Andreas Christensen to feature in next season's first team squad. I think he did very well when he played in the Carling Cup two years ago, and didn't put a foot wrong. I also think he should have played at RB last season regularly. Well he was voted Borussia's player of the season last season, and if we don't bring him back, it could turn into another De Bruyne farce, where he's sold for £50 million + in a few years to Man City or Man Utd.

Come on Chelsea board, let's bring some of the stars through, and stop selling them off cheap. Give some of the youngsters a chance, and that might also include Dominic Solanke. Tottenham have done it, Southampton have done it practically every season and Everton do it. There are some gems out there, and some of them are already owned by the club.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. Michael Emenalo is still the one pulling the strings. I'm sure last summer's transfer dealings had a lot to do with the mess we found ourselves in the season that followed.
Why Roman Abramovich ended up giving the guy so much power is a mystery, his CV before Avram Grant brought him in was nothing special. Conte will probably ask for Leonardo Bonucci and get another Papy Djilobodji.

Yep, but we were told he's gone the same way as Torres and was finished.
Oh well

Yes, it was a fantastic performance by Hazard, he really was unplayable at times. De Bruyne was also outstanding, it makes you realise what we have missed by not having those two playing together.
I was also impressed with Lukaku in the first half, he showed some wonderful touches that must have surprised a lot of his critics. He faded in the second half, but there were signs that he could be well on his way to fulfilling that early promise.

Yes, Lukaku was good. Played in a very unselfish way as well. De Bruyne is class act

Been catching up on the game this morning. Great to see Hazard's mojo restored. Belgium really are a pleasure to watch in that form.

Conte marches on. Italy beat Spain to go on to the Quarter Finals.

Been really impressive at these Euros.

Well, what a tournament Italy are having!

Fantastic performance last night, got everything right.

And watching Conte direct the team from the technical box, like a conductor at a symphony, was fascinating to watch.

I'm not going to do a LVG/Utd fan, suddenly I think we're going to win everything because he is performing well at a major tournament, but as a Chelsea fan, he really excites me and I hope the Chelsea boys are excited to work under him.

Yep, Italy very impressive again. Conte showing what a canny manager he is. Just hope the club don't let him down in the transfer market.

conte is doing well this tournament - good signs.

It pains me to watch hazard, de bruyne and lukaku linking up so well though

we could have had most of the belgian team.

Well, let's hope they give Conte the backing he's going to need.
I'm sure Conte will do the best with whatever squad he finally finds himself with at the beginnining of next season, but we all know that there are gaps that need filling before we can hope to challenge for top honours again.

Ake gone on loan to Bournmouth.

While I think him going on loan to another premiership club is a decent idea I not sure we have picked the right club. I think a more established premiership club would have been a better option (or another season at Watford). The only plus point I can see is the Bournmouth manager who I think could really help him in his education.

Juventus didn't quite do well in the Champions League under Conte, however the performances against Belgium and Spain were brilliant. He outwitted Del Bosque easily, Spain didn't look like winning the game at all, tactically Italy were brilliant in that match. I can see him doing pretty well for you guys the coming season.

From what I saw last season, Ake could challenge Baba Rahman for the LB position. Ake looked better defensively, Rahman is probably a bit quicker and occasionly puts in a decent cross. But Ake had a good season and I'd have found it a difficult choice between the two of them.
Rahman is already sounding disgruntled about not getting enough starts, and Lazio are apparently interested at around £13m. I hope this isn't another decision we live to regret.
