The offer was too good to refuse, but he was extremely popular with the fans.
For all his gaffes (and there were plenty) I was always pleased to see his name on the team sheet. On his day he could be fantastic, his attitude and enthusiasm lifted the whole team.
Should we buy him back ? My heart says yes, but my head says no. I can't see it happening anyway.

Then there's Traore. He did well in the few appearances he made last season. He would surely be in with a chance of games now with only two experienced (if you can call Batshuayi experienced) strikers ?”

I can only assume we're loaning Remy out because clubs are too concerned about his fitness to offer a permanent deal, so want to try before they buy. Otherwise it makes no sense.

I agree about Traore. Should have kept him, as like you say he surely would have made a reasonable number of appearances.

Having only 2 first team strikers is sheer negligence from the club, but then it comes as no surprise when defensive cover is virtually non-existent too.

We need a defender and we have fell short in bringing in our top targets.

Luiz is a very good player. His passing is excellent and can play in defence and in midfield, also we could use him as a sweeper if we go 3 at the back.

The price of around 30m+ is about right in today's market. He is about the right age has the right attitude and mentality, Knows the club and the league and will have no trouble settling in England. He is not on the list of our first choice options when it comes to who to bring in but is a very decent player from a 2nd choice list.

Still don't think it will happen, think we have left it too late

Maybe the new PSG manager doesn't fancy him. Not sure if it's the right thing to do or not. Would be good possibly in a 3 at the back.

If the money is right, we get a player who clearly loves the club and can play in many positions.

CB, DM and AM

He is also a threat at corners and can score free kicks / penalties.

It would be a good 2nd choice signing.

I would happily take Luiz back - we'd have a defender who is capable of bringing the ball out of our defensive line. We've seen how Kante has made a huge difference to our play, not only does he break up opposition attacks but he also distributes the ball very quickly which helps to sustain our attacking pressure. Now if only we had a defender capable of passing the ball with such technique and intelligence as Kante - 9 times out of 10 our CBs will either deploy a long ball which reaches the opposition or they will pass back to Courtois and we end up conceding possession which is incredibly infuriating.

I wouldn't be opposed to either, no doubting hes a good footballer although prone to a mistake every now and again. He knows the club and the league and should fit in easily.

Would he be any riskier than some relatively unknown defender from abroad? It seems any half decent defender is commanding a £30m+ fee these days anyway.

i think its pretty unanimous then, we would all want that signing. make it so, mr roman

I'm saving my rage for when it actually happens.

It's so stupid that it almost certainly will, of course.

It looks as if Marcos Alonso is officially a done deal. Alleged fee is €28m with add-ons.
Must confess, I don't know much about him. But coming from Fiorentina, Conte must have have had him noted down as one to watch.

Probably expensive back-up rather than a challenge to Ivanovic.

Brozovic has turned us down. Can't see where he would have fit in without getting rid of Fabregas or Oscar.

Never really took any notice of him when he played over here before. Still, I didn't know who Azpilicueta was before joining us, and he worked out well, so I'm trying to think positive.

cuadrado on 3 year "loan" to juve

€5 million a year loan fee, and will purchase the player at the end of the 3 years for €25 million (minus the loan fees). It could rise to €29 million if Juve win their league

I didn't even know we had a player named Perica.

I think it's been a good window, certainly a lot better than last summer. The signing of Kante has elevated it to another level. I would have kept Traore with Remy leaving, but otherwise we should be considerably stronger, and that's all you can ask.

This time last week our transfer window was looking like a disaster....it's amazing what an approaching deadline can do to people

We needed a first choice LB. I'm not sure we have that.

I'm now expecting a last-minute loan deal for Zouma.

Yes! But he is due back soon! And will need first team football! Which he might not get here with Clownshoes and Terry ahead of him!

It's good he's gone. Anyone could see he was not first team material.
I did though bizarrely read a Liverpool fan comparing him to KDB.
