I'm not sure of what he would change though ? It's the same old story, we look quite good going forward, but vulnerable every time Liverpool come at us. We have looked 100% better in this 2nd half, so I guess Conte Has decided not to change things.
But I agree, only 15 minutes left now, we could do with fresh legs if nothing else.

Disagree about us looking quite good going forward. Other than the goal we didn't create any clear-cut chances that I can recall. Taking off Matic and Oscar for Fabregas and Moses was the right idea but far too late in the day. I would have brought on Batshuayi instead of Pedro though.

Oscar, Matic, Cahill and Ivanovic just don't look good enough.

Next league match is too far away. I can't wait to see Oscar, Matic, Ivanovic, Willian, and Cahill play in the same team again........

Aside from the fact Liverpool were far the better team, got to say that was a very disappointing performance, almost like last season.
Not making any changes till 10 from the end is a bit worrying. Everything was so predictable, just kept passing across the back.
A concerning performance I would say. He needs to shake the team up a bit.

Nothing unexpected, At out very best we are a decent team at their very best they a team who maybe could contend for the title. They played closer to their best then we did and that should not be a shock, Kloop is much further along making them his team then Conte is.

It don't matter if we play Oscar or a Cesc change things at 45 minutes or 80 at the moment the players are just not good enough, We needed to bring in a top defender we bought a decent one in, We needed to bring in a striker who of you had a fiver left in your betting account you would stick it on, We bought in a striker who might score.

To get us to where we need to be is a long job

Not saying we should not bring them on but when our options are to bring on average players like Moses and players who are either not suited or settled into the league like Pedro the difference is not going to be major.

Of course every so often changes will pay off (more so against average or decent ones) but for games like this the players need to play at their very top level, at the moment I just don't see that happening

Is Fabregas an average player then? If we're talking about average players then look no further than the likes of Oscar, who seems to be starting every game under Conte.

Batshuayi has already shown in his fleeting minutes on the pitch so far that he's capable of putting the ball in the net. No reason at all to think that he shouldn't be brought on.

On his performances? Yes Cesc is average player

Bat''a is a capable player and could score but at the moment we need more.

While we might see better perfmoances from the team with those changes I don't think we will see better results,

To me, the first players who should be dropped after tonight's performance would be Ivanovic, Cahill and possibly Matic (though he did set up our only goal). Problem is, would anyone we brought in make us any stronger ?
Willian was one of our best players my my opinion, so I can't see Moses making a difference. You could play Fabregas, but it would weaken us further defensively. Might we worth it if he can come up with ine of his magic passes though.
The one good thing to come out of tonight's game was the performance by Luiz in my opinion. I thought he looked very assured, didn't take any risks and distributed the ball well.

Short of signing the likes of Messi or Ronaldo I'm not quite sure who this player is thats going to guarantee to score in nearly every game. By that token it certainly isn't Lukaku who has only scored in 1 game so far this season and hadn't scored since March before that, if that's the drum you're still beating.

Yes, agree about Luiz. One of probably only a couple that came out of the game with any credit. Leave him in the team and replace Cahill with Terry when fit again.

Ivanovic has to be dropped for the next game. Move Azpi to RB, and let's see what this new LB looks like.

I was all for playing Kante and Matic together at that start of the season but that was based on the hope that we might see an up-turn in Matic's performances. It also wouldn't have been at the expense of Fabregas either, I would have had him in a more attacking position. A few games in and I'm seeing no real signs of Matic getting back to the player he was in the first year or so after we re-signed him. Very frustrating....

We needed to sign a player who has scored goals in this league. If we could not Bat's is a decent signing but until Conte gets his team and everyone playing his football decent is not going to make a massive amount of difference when we playing better teams like Liverpool

Scored a hat-trick against a dismal Sunderland side, but didn't find the net in any of his other games so far. The point is that he's not a guarantee of goals which you seem to be suggesting that a striker coming off the bench should be. He's a player that comes into that 'could score' category. Besides I'm sure he'd be delighted at getting 5 minutes of game time here or there, it would just be like when he was at the club last time around.

Yes, I don't think there's any easy answer. Maybe if Liverpool were genuine title contenders there might have been some excuse for our first half performance. But I don't think they are, they'll be struggling for a European place along with Spurs and Arsenal in my opinion.

So where does that leave us ? We've kept one clean sheet in six games, conceding 2 goals in three of them, including Bristol Rovers in the League Cup. Our points total is flattering when you analyse our actual performances. We play well in patches, but the Burnley game is the only one where we really dominated.

It's going to be a tough struggle to qualify for Europe and that was our minimum requirement for this season. The problem for Conte is that I can't see any amount of juggling with the team is likely to produce anything radically different. I'm still just about clinging on to the fact that we won the title with basically the same squad two seasons ago, but even I am beginning to lose faith. I just can't see some of those players getting back to that level for any length of time.

If we tried playing with more than 2 attacking players we might not need to worry so much about our defence.

On why I think Chelsea under-perforrned (from what I saw). I'd have played Native and Kante - I don't think it was strictly the personnel but more the tactics and intent. Chelsea's manager and some players talked of Liverpool's strengths pre-game whereas focus should have been on our weakness. As a result, Chelsea's defenders played a no-risk sit deep strategy and your central midfield was out-numbered. Some attacking players didn't track back which didn't help.

Playing more assertively, that team would cause big problems. Perhaps Ivanovic couldn't be questioned as he's obviously slowing down.

We passed and moved very well (and quickly) which helped a lot and were very positive and confident - yet it took a wonder strike to win it and position/attempts were about even.

For me Chelsea's build up play was far too slow. Too much passing along the back and frankly getting nowhere.
Since Liverpool were dominating midfield then the best play to get around that is bypass it. I would of brought on another striker and go a bit long ball. It might not of worked but then you can at least push up a bit.
Obviously after a defeat we all get a bit knee jerk. It took most of last season and this transfer window for Klopp to feel this is his team. Conte has only had half a dozen games. Unfortunately time is not what Chelsea managers normally have but he needs it to get his type of players in. I worry he's a bit slow to react in terms of subs.
Liverpool played very good football though and you should be optimistic for the season ahead.

I think maybe Conte was at least partly to blame for the first half performance. It's possible that they were playing to instructions. There was certainly a massive improvement after half time, so he could have thought it only reasonable to give them a chance to redeem themselves.
We do look incredibly vulnerable at the back though. I know I keep on about defence, but that's because we've been able to pride ourselves on being solid at the back for such a long time, going back before the Abramovich era. Now we've got to a stage where you feel that it will probably need us to score 3 goals to guarantee a win. That's just not the Chelsea we've known in the past 20 years.

With an Italian coach you would think defence would be something he can sort out.

It's certainly worth giving that a try. But Cahill was very poor last night as well. The commentator kept on about JT and Luiz not being able to play together..I can't remember that being some kind of accepted common knowledge ? I'm sure I can remember games when they played OK together ?
