Pundits have a bee in their bonnet about Luiz so will say he cannot play with JT/Cahill/Zouma or anyone else. They have stuck a label on him and he could be in the leagues team of the season and not make a mistake for the rest of his time at Chelsea and they will still haul him over the coals for something.

Yes, those were my thoughts as well. They seemed almost disappointed that Luiz hardly put a foot wrong all night. They were so desperate to show that their earlier comments were justified and that he'd prove to be a liability.
They have their labels (this is not something they do to Luiz but many players/managers/clubs) and they will continue with that narrative. |

I see our Liverpool supporting friend is complaining about Chelsea selling Sturidge which is a bit bizarre in itself but what he forgets is his hero Rafa sold him. Keep those clown shoes on son

Leicester coming up on Tuesday, would be good to see a few given a chance. If he thinks 3 at the back is a future option then maybe give that a go.

I not sure he actually thinks 3 at the back is a future option just more of a possibility if really necessary. We might see 2 up front on Tuesday as that is more of a likely option we will use in games (although don't think we will start many that way).
It depends on how he treats cups. Jose always treated them very seriously Conte might take them in a less serious way |

![]() Has the talent but lacks the ability to even get close to where he should be, I have often questioned the mentality of our players but compared to him they are world class |

I would not have Sturidge now for all the money in the world, A perfect example of having utterly the wrong mindset needed today.

Think we need to stay in the cups as long as possible to give game time to players.
I hope he takes it seriously. I would expec Leicester to be very different though. Either staying or going out could be helpful at the moment, Staying in gives them games and hopefully time to play their way into form and going out gives him more time to spend with the players on the training pitch and getting his ideas across to them. |

With no European football there's no reason not to take the domestic cups seriously. We won't win the title so they represent our only realistic chances of silverware.
I hope that we don't see the same old starting line-up though. I'd go with something like this: Begovic Azpi - Cahill - Luiz - Alonso Kante - Mikel Moses - Fabregas - Hazard Batshuayi |

Courtois Azpil-Cahill-Luiz-Alonso Willian-Kante-Fabregas-Hazard Batshuayi-Costa I'd be worried about Kante and Fabregas in CM but Matic was poor against Liverpool (despite setting up our goal) and I don't really want to see Mikel as a starter. We don't want to experiment in the PL, so I'll go with the flow and see if a more attacking line-up works in the cup. |

Think I'd be a bit more inclined to experiment with formations if it was a home tie. Or against a weaker side.
Saying that, I would like to see Costa and Batshuayi play together from the start sometime though, so wouldn't be against it if Conte decides to try that on Tuesday. |

I can't understand why some people are starting to criticise T Bone. He's world class.
Conte does not seem to be the type of manager to make bold, necessary changes to the starting 11, and he needs to. Hopefully he will. Starting 11: T Bone Azpi Cahill / Zouma when he's fit Luiz Alonso Kante Matic Fabregas Hazard Batshuayi Costa A 1 - 4 - 3 - 1 - 2 formation. That'll surprise them!

That said, I would give Begovic a run-out on Tuesday although I'm expecting Courtois to play again seeing as he played in the previous round. |

Is Courtois as good as Cech in his prime? It's hard to tell as the game as changed since those days and we had an amazing players in front of him but what is in little (or no) doubt is he is a very good goalkeeper,
We was right to make Courtois number 1 and that meant we had no choice in shipping out Cech (I don't think we should 1)be childish about selling players to rivals and 2) We should treat players who have performed such a high standard with respect) to who ever he wanted. If we are grading the mistakes we have made recently with players both coming in and going out etc Making Courtois number 1 is pretty low down on the list |

Arsenal had a bargain, i wish we had still both. Cech was captain material, we lost a dressing room leader when he left. |

He was captain material and a dressing room leader as a member of the first team but we don't know what the effect it would have had on him sitting on the bench week in week out. While he might not yet be in his prime he was not going to come in as number two, We either made him number one, gave him another season on loan (not sure what would be the point of that) or sold him. The logical choice was make him number one |

Some very good behind the scenes footage at the club for anyone who's interested: https://www.chelseafc.com/news/lates...ea-unseen.html
The content is free, and upgraded accounts are available for just £5.99 / mo' or £59.99 which is excellent value. |

A very interesting quote from Pat Nevin on the changes needed. I always think his analysis and comments are very good and balanced on the whole:
'There will be thoughts on why Antonio Conte didn’t make the substitutions earlier, especially as we did look transformed when Cesc came on for the final 10 minutes including injury time.' Source: http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest...ing-light.html There was a lad on this thread who said that Cesc is a luxury player, and I couldn't disagree more. He's a vital part of the team, if the team is going to create regular chances. If anything we need another player in his mould, a creative player who is not afraid to move the ball forward for when Fabregas is injured, tired or off form. |

Except his pal Dixon in the other thread. The rest of us aren't doing it though.

Of course, having a piss-poor defence in front of him doesn't help. Still think there are times where he should do much better. |

Hmm. Have to say, I haven't been that impressed with him since he came back. Seems like every time he has a significant impact on a game it's a negative one.
