There was a lad on this thread who said that Cesc is a luxury player, and I couldn't disagree more. He's a vital part of the team, if the team is going to create regular chances. If anything we need another player in his mould, a creative player who is not afraid to move the ball forward for when Fabregas is injured, tired or off form.”

Well, Conte appears to have problems finding the best fit for Fabregas in the team. Nobody doubts his ability to find that wonderful pass every now and then that will split a defence wide open. It's what he adds to the team over 90 minutes, for 38 PL games plus those in other competitions that worries managers.
The thing with other playmakers you can mention is that they generally add more in terms of their all round game. Kroos and Modric for Real Madrid, Silva and De Bruyne for Man City, even Ozil and Cazorla at Arsenal.
Don't forget, Fabregas, in his time at Barcelona, was often accused of giving away possession all too often. When he joined them, Barcelona had a midfield three of Busquets, Xavi, and Iniesta, a trio at the top of their game. He was supposed to be the natural successor to Xavi but it never worked out. He's a great player, nobody with his number of caps for Spain could be anything else. But he's just not an easy "fit" into any team on a continued, week to week basis.
