Great deal for all parties if true.

You have a point about Schurrle being replaced with Cuadrado, but KDB left a year before that and we put that money towards re-signing Matic, so it was a good use of it to be fair.

£60m for Oscar would be fantastic business.

Yes, it looks like the Oscar deal is a virtual certainty. I will be sorry to see him go but it's a great piece of business.
My worry is that we'll go out and spend the money on a couple of relatively unknown young players with "potential". We are not going to sign players like Griezmann or Verratti in January, so I'd rather we waited until the summer than just throw the money around.
I see we are linked with Bakayoko, the young French DM from Monaco. Might be ok at the right price, but not at the £40m being quoted in some parts of the media ! That's the problem, there will be agents rubbing their hands together at the thought of a nice little earner from Chelsea in the New Year.

Costa has won the "Not Playing on Boxing day" trophy then!
11 games without a card and then he pulls off a laughable challenge to earn a yellow today!

Tight game. Good header from Costa to break Palace down.

If we were going to miss Costa for a game than better it's against Bournemouth then against Stoke or Spurs. Ref has been a bit lenient with not booking a couple of the Palace players since Costa was yellow carded though.

Yes, but Kante got lucky early on as well. Puncheon worries me, always plays well against us. Need another goal then we can relax.

11 wins on the bounce, and another clean sheet. Happy days. Not at our best but we showed that grit and determination that prospective title winners need. We created more chances once Fab came on and should have wrapped it up really. Alonso was unlucky with that free-kick.

I was momentarily concerned about us giving away that free-kick until i saw who was lining up to take it. As soon as I saw it was the specialist in hitting Row Z, I knew it would be ok.

The 3 points are nice but we haven't commanded a game throughout since Everton. Understand you can't always have things your own way but think we should be managing to score more goals than we are currently. Good thing Conte brought on Fabregas when he did because we were not in control of the game at all. Just booting the ball away under relentless Palace pressure.

Also, I think Alonso is going to be targeted a lot as it's obvious he's the weak link. Although I'd rather have Baba/Ake/Kenedy playing there, I wonder if Conte might be tempted to just upgrade in January.

Kenedy is back at the club now, isn't he? I wonder if he'll be loaned out again, or whether Conte will keep him around for the rest of the season?

3 points, always the main thing, but not playing too well at present.
Think Fabregas should be starting. In great form. We lack a bit of imagination without him. Nice to now be able to just sit back and enjoy the football all weekend.

Yes he is. I think I read somewhere that we can't play him until his loan officially ends in January. If he's been training well then he should stay.

I disagree. I thought we were always in control of the game. We did sit back a little too much in the second half, but did they ever cause us any real problems ?
It wasn't a great game to watch, but they're the sort you have to "win ugly" if you want to take the title. I get as much satisfaction out of a result like that as I do out of playing pretty football and winning 5-0.
I also thought Alonso had a decent game. I can't see anyone currently on our books doing better. Yes, we could upgrade but it would cost us. Maybe Ricardo Rodriguez from Wolfsburg if he's available?

I don't mind starting with Fabregas, providing we are not relying on him in any defensive capacity. Against Bournemouth we will be without Costa and Kante, so there'll be a couple of changes. Maybe go to a sort of 3-5-2 with Chalobah coming in for Kante, and Fabregas playing further foward behind Hazard and Batshuayi ?

A few months ago I said I'd never be able to enjoy watching Costa because of his discipline problems. Stupid booking today, but I'd still like to take it back. The turnaround in his performance and discipline has been incredible.

Huge game coming up for Batshuayi. Hardly played since the first few matches and now he'll have to come in and make an instant impact.....
