Defence needs some work......
Absolutely awful defending - they have switched off.

The Remy goal was so important, otherwise Swansea would have had 5 minutes to throw the kitchen sink at us.

A little bit guilty of over playing at times and some careless defending otherwise going very well. Costa & Fabregas have changed the team.

Great stuff. I feel guilty now about having any doubts about Costa. He must be the most natural goalscorer we've had since JImmy Floyd, all that's on his mind when he runs on is finding the back of that net.
I wouldn't feel too bad, it's only natural to be a bit cautious with new striker signings given our record with them. At least none of us thought he was a donkey like Dixon did. Speaking of whom, he's been very quiet this season….

Still not anywhere near being "there" yet and that should worry everyone else in the league.

Need to find the right balance between attack and defence and start and end at a much higher level then we currently are.

I would be disappointed if by the time Xmas comes along we have not put games like today to bed by half-time.

Full credit to our opponents today, they are going to give any team in the league a really hard game.

Not really worried about next weekend the result will not make the slightest difference to who wins the league

Best get this game over with when we are 5 points clear of them. I think both managers will play for a draw.

Liverpool currently losing at half time, though i'm sure they will still win. Villa could make it a perfect set of results for us.

For me the Liverpool result matters as much as the Spurs one i.e about as important as who won Celebrity Big Big Brother so not at all as I don't see either team being top 4 at end of the season. Mondays Utd game is the more important game as they have IMO had a window only bettered by us.

Think both teams will go for the win when we play City. We are have a very different mindset and attitude and City know this year they have a team in the league capable of challenging them for the title.

^ Man U won't be challengers, not with their backline. It's also a big ask expecting that many new players to bed in quickly. Liverpool obviously miss Suarez and will find it harder this season with the extra games, Arsenal still lack a top striker, not to mention resolve. Those 3 teams will just be jostling for top 4 spots. The only team I see as a genuine title rival is City.

Strange decision from Rodgers today not starting his best available attacking player, when it's this early in the season.

I don't think Utd will "challenge" for the title but I think they will be the little horse like we was last season. They have a manager who is on par with Jose and once he gets a settled team and them clicking they will really kick off.

I think Rogers picked the team with Champions League in mind but instead of sending out a team capable of winning as quick as possible and then making changes like we did getting Costa and Cesc off.

Managers constantly get it wrong. Play your best team, get the goals and sub your best players rather than sending a poor team out and having to bring them on when chasing the game.

I see the moral compass of Football Rio has got a book coming out am sure in between setting out is manifesto to head up the FA and selling some of his hats he will be talking his normal rubbish about JT and Ashley Cole.

I quite like the stat that Alan Shearer brought up. Costa became the first player to score 7 goals in the first four games of the season in the PL. Shearer then added that It took 43 games for Torres to score 7 goals in the PL for Chelsea !

What a difference he's making. Torres and Ba only scored 5 goals apiece in the league last season, he's already outscored them. Shouldn't be long before he passes Eto'o on 9 goals, with the way he's going.

I didn't see the game today but my father was there and he was very, very complimentary (in awe I think) of Hazard - said despite the hatrick Hazard was his MOTM, I have never heard him gush about such a footballer in that way!

Good to hear a view from the opposition that we didn't play badly, getting anything from the match was going to be a massive task. Sounds like we were very impressive in the first half an hour but after that you guys stepped up a gear and we just could't keep up. Having not seen the game though I was just hoping that we hadn't played badly, after all there is no shame in losing 4-2 at Stamford Bridge,. General view seems to be we were outclassed but not poor.

Have to say Costa is looking like such a good buy, I followed Atletico last year and loved watching him so really pleased he is doing such a great job for you guys. Think he is the missing piece that will make the difference for you this year.

Hazard was guilty of being too good yesterday. He reminds me of young Ronaldo, before he turned his skills into an end product. He is going to be the worlds best player one day.

His sound bites are all over the press about Chelsea players. Let's not let the hypocrite Ferdinand take the shine off what has been a wonderful day for Chelsea fc.

Costa and cesc are wonderful players, hazard is looking so dangerous now. Oscar is slowly getting there ( but still needs to be rested).

Schurrle was disappointing, lost possession far too much. Playing on the wrong side of the attack.

Why not experiment with schurrle, hazard and Willian behind Costa for a game?

Will remy start in mid week, or play Costa for the first 45?

Indeed and no doubt now all the handshake stuff will rear its ugly head again.
I doubt JT or Ashley give a damn what Rio thinks. I guess it keeps Rio in the limelight a bit longer.

Ferdinand..what a total arsehole. Still, The Sun on Sunday is the right place to publish his puerile ramblings. I wonder how he's getting on with his new "friend" Joey Barton, those two c**ts were made for each other.

Lets not let the jealous, hypocritical nature of that player spoil what is a great weekend for chelsea.

Oh, he's not spoiling things. I had to Google to find out what people were talking about.
But I expect we'll have a thread about it soon.

Hazard was rather forgotten with all the praise for Costa and Fabregas. Great to see him back to his best, almost unplayable at times.
Azpil doesn't seem to be quite on top of his game so far this season ? I guess that's understandable, he was due a little drop in form after his incredibly consistent displays last season.
That's one thing that doesn't worry me though, building a solid defence has never been a problem for Jose. He'll get that right, it's in his DNA.

Costa is a delight to watch ! Banging them in and looks like hes on fire!

Really pleased Remy is off to a good start also, we look much much better going forward. Defensively still need to settle, but Jose will sort it i am sure.

Chelsea looks without question to be the best team in EPL right now, I worry about them in the Dec-Feb stretch which they have struggled throughout the last few seasons.

Great game, Rio yesterday!
PS anyone think we would still have conceded 5 in the last 2 with PC playing?

Its a tough one.

They are two very different type of players.

A new keeper takes time to bed in and more so when we are playing a new system as well and plus with our new found abilty to actually score goals for "fun" it means we sometimes switch off because we think we will outscore anyone I think we will know more when we get nearer to xmas.

What I do know is because Jose is such a boring coach and only knows how to play "park the bus football" and will be to blame for the downfall of the game is that sooner or later he will get the defense sorted.

We are still going though a very slow process of getting the balance right

I think I'm one of the very few people (aside from Chelsea fans) who likes John Terry As a person he appears to be an arse, but he is one of those players who always gives 100% and looks like he is prepared to die on the pitch for the team. At least that's how he played in his prime and he was one of the very few players who played great for club AND country. He even played well under Capello when everyone else had given up. I will always have a soft spot for him. Rio on the other had I always found to be extremely overrated.
